hack to highlight and not get ink smudges: highlight before you write. It sounds odd but it really works, at first you may mess up how much you highlight to fit what you need to write but after a while you get a hang of it. this obviously works only if you know what you want to highlight ahead of time (like definitions or whatever) but it's saved me so many times haha

Poundland have a packet of around 10 of their own brand really inky super fine tipped pens that don't smudge or soak up highlighters and they do them in black blue red or multicoloured, they're such good value for people who write a lot and always run out of pens, I feel like you would really like them☺️

Here's a tip to keep your pencil case organised: Tie all the sets (of pens/pencils) in elastic bands to if you want all the colours you don't have to root through your pencil case ✏️
