I encountered a injured owl 2 years ago on the job. It had a hurt wing and didn't fly off when I approached. I gave it some lunch meat and wrapped my arm in a rain jacket. It willingly let me help it and I took it to a nearby vet. I wonder to this day whatever happened to it. Saving that owl is one of the greatest highlights of my life.

Great job, Brett! Owls are the "speak softly and carry a big stick" birds of prey. If you live on a farm, they are a tremendous help in rodent control, not to mention, if they roost or nest in your barn, other birds wont be so apt to get into your seed corn.
This being said that does not discount a reason to fear them at times I've seen a lady get knocked out in a parking lot buy a hawk because she park too close to her eggs.
@@ParagonChumba here in my hometown in the netherlands like almost a decade ago orso, we used to have an owl that would swoop on dogs and graze people over the top of their heads, he was terrorizing people walking their dogs at night, and sometimes people cycling along until one night, a bad judgement call on the owl's side, cause it to crash into the glass pane of a bus stop after a swoop and knocked itself clean out, aftter which it could be captured and it was sent off to the local bird park for a checkup at the vet and for them to take care of him in captivity funnily enough, we have the biggest bird amusement park in western europe (avifauna), it's not even that huge or anything but it's a pretty niche thing to have lol, i was founded by a family of hotel owners that came from this town of which their last name happens to be "de valk" (the falcon) too, starting up the park with their amassed capital, i guess having birds int he family went a loooong way back having that name, or it's just coincidence they opened up a bird amusement park :') to add to all the confusion, their hotel branches and their other companies have had a Toucan as a logo for decades, not a falcon for some reason lol they even have their own butcher shop here too, with serious quality meat, ofcourse with their their connections on the hotel branch, they can buy in high grade stuff in bulk, and use the butcher's to sell off certain meats on discount when the hotels aren't projecting to sell as much as they go in, so they have an outlet to minimize their losses there, and we get good prices on high grade meat, gotta love availability.
i have budgies, they're fucking great lol such cute and smart and busy little buggers, and pretty colors on top of all of that too lol but i guess that memo was already out, seeing as parakeets are the most popular domestic pet bird in existence :')
I’ve always wanted a pet bird and wanted to name him cashew. But y’a know, just for your support, ima get one and name it Brett. Proud of you for facing the cats of the sky❤️
I'm so jealous. Got a few hawks, crows, and falcons that visit my yard. Never did get the hang of befriending wild birds, but I did gave a whole park full of squirrels that I used to feed by hand, including one that would climb up my leg for an acorn. The big goal is a pair of ravens to familiarize with, but they're somewhat rare here.
I have 2 cockatoos. Congratulations for facing an concurring your fear of birds. They are incredible in the sense that they can have way more personality than you would ever expect. My birds are like 3 to 5 year old kids.....all the time. The only difference is that the larger one has enough power in his beak to snip a finger off. That was very intimidating in the beginning, but then his personality came through, and also his trust in me. It wasn't long before I didn't fear him anymore.
Very cool video. I’ve always loved owls and birds of prey. I’ve always thought falconry would be cool to know how to do. God bless you and your family and friends and your crew and staff. Duane.

The opposite of Gen Z (and of course their parents’) mentality to create and avoid fears and attempt to be utterly insulated from them. The result of which is to be a victim of them your whole life. Brett faces them and by doing so, not only can conquer them, but build additional self-confidence and control in her life. She’s like a beacon of truth and resilience to her generation. 😊 🇺🇸
I don't think I could ever be scared of birds, geese included. I did start rock climbing when I discovered I developed a major fear of heights between climbing all the big trees as a kid and getting out of the Air Force. So naturally I started climbing 12 years ago and I have come a long way. There will be no soloing, but I do trust my gear and don't mind a big fall. We did have a farm dog that would take on any stray fighting dog or pack of coyotes and always walk away unwounded. He could always be found whimpering under the porch when the wild turkeys were around. Miss you Hoss.
Well done Brett. This was fun and interesting. I went to an Australian birds of prey show many years ago at the Healesville Sanctuary, not far from Melbourne. It was fascinating, but some of those birds could do some serious damage. We have lots of birds in our yard, kookaburras, rainbow lorikeets, sulphur-crested cockatoos, etc. and I'm fine with them. They're the tourist attraction birds. But we also have Australian magpies and I'm wary of them. They're a form of butcher bird, looking a bit like the crow in your video. The males can get extremely aggressive during breeding season, but you can make friends with them. One of my friends rescued an injured magpie and it became his constant companion. The bird would sit on his shoulder and crap all over his shirt. You could stroke it and it wouldn't try to gouge your eyes out. But I'm still wary of them.
You actually did a great job facing your fear. Could barely tell that you were scared.

Always love a Knowles cameo 😂👏
Brett, I'm very proud of how brave you were, and I hope you get even more comfortable with these beautiful creatures :)
Big props for facing your fear head on Brett. Made my day :)
Doing the right thing has value because it defines who we are.
Michael's cameo was gold lol
Trust me when I say I DID NOT expect that express vpn plug it was so smooth 😂 the second Brett said "speaking of safety" I thought, oh my God she wouldn't right? Brett is officially the Goat of Ad Plugs 😤
As a wildlife ecologist, this has made me fall in love with Brett 😂 Great job facing your fear, I would never have guessed you were scared if you hadn't said you were.
Brett you did such a great job. What a wonderful experience ❤
Brett’s got strength and power! ❤ I wouldn’t even last a second near a bird
Great job, Brett! Owls are the "speak softly and carry a big stick" birds of prey. If you live on a farm, they are a tremendous help in rodent control, not to mention, if they roost or nest in your barn, other birds wont be so apt to get into your seed corn.
Birds are great when you understand and respect them for what they are!
This being said that does not discount a reason to fear them at times I've seen a lady get knocked out in a parking lot buy a hawk because she park too close to her eggs.
They taste great as well.
@@ParagonChumba here in my hometown in the netherlands like almost a decade ago orso, we used to have an owl that would swoop on dogs and graze people over the top of their heads, he was terrorizing people walking their dogs at night, and sometimes people cycling along
until one night, a bad judgement call on the owl's side, cause it to crash into the glass pane of a bus stop after a swoop and knocked itself clean out,
aftter which it could be captured and it was sent off to the local bird park for a checkup at the vet and for them to take care of him in captivity
funnily enough, we have the biggest bird amusement park in western europe (avifauna), it's not even that huge or anything but it's a pretty niche thing to have lol, i was founded by a family of hotel owners that came from this town of which their last name happens to be "de valk" (the falcon) too, starting up the park with their amassed capital,
i guess having birds int he family went a loooong way back having that name, or it's just coincidence they opened up a bird amusement park :')
to add to all the confusion, their hotel branches and their other companies have had a Toucan as a logo for decades, not a falcon for some reason lol
they even have their own butcher shop here too, with serious quality meat, ofcourse with their their connections on the hotel branch, they can buy in high grade stuff in bulk, and use the butcher's to sell off certain meats on discount when the hotels aren't projecting to sell as much as they go in, so they have an outlet to minimize their losses there, and we get good prices on high grade meat, gotta love availability.
i have budgies, they're fucking great lol such cute and smart and busy little buggers, and pretty colors on top of all of that too lol
but i guess that memo was already out, seeing as parakeets are the most popular domestic pet bird in existence :')
Respect them as government spy drones.
This was the most wholesome thing I’ve seen in weeks! 😂
Respect for conquering your fear. 👍👍👍
Do something you fear every day.

Duane.
I could never conquer my fears like that.
One step at a time.
Desensitization is so important! It's a great tool in overcoming phobias. We fear less what we are familiar with.
Hi Brett.
Im going to be thirteen in a couple of months, going into the 8th grade. You, Ben Shapiro, and the rest of the daily wire have really helped open my eyes and helped made me understand the world better. So if you do read this, Thank You, for all you do for the daily wire, and this world. I really hope to meet you one day, because you have been such a great role model for me. Again, Thank you. Sending love from California ❤️
Young lady your comments give me hope for the future as people like you will keep our country strong.

Brett, I got the opportunity to watch your youtube contents for the past few days, I must admit that you are pretty good at what you do.your smartness and intelligence, your sense of humour, your spontaneous facial expressions, and your smooth sliding into ads are very impressive
I always love how down to earth and very knowledgeable these animal trainers are its great to see. Good job Brett on facing your fear head on and being a trooper!
Amazing job!! As a bird lover myself (with parrots!) I am quite jealous, though! What amazing creatures!
Brett you did so well. You were seriously brave 👏👏 Well done! 🤗
Brett; Great job! I LOVE birds. I'm so lucky to have a male and female eagle living about 6 properties away from me. Absolutory amazing to watch.
The fact that you’re 21 and still afraid of birds is gold to me😂

Being afraid of birds is pretty weird not gonna lie. It’s the first time I’m hearing of this fear 😂 but I’m glad you’re working on facing your fears 💪
Pretty common actually.
I find them disgusting, would rather hold a snake than a bird
Bro. Some people are scared of fruits, grass etc
Really proud of you facing your fears/phobias. I don't think I could do that with heights. Except birds don't kill too many people like falling does.
