I don't really comment, but today I wanted to really show my appreciation of all the times you made my day better with your videos. Keep doing what you're doing guys
I love it when a game with a custom protagonist is part of the lore of a setting, so when you are reading a summary of the lore it's all of these proper names doing important stuff, it's blatantly obvious which part of the lore is from a game when it refers to someone by a vague title like "hero of blah". like the player character from Elder Scrolls 4 is called "The Hero of Kvatch".
I imagine Obox-ob sees Demogorgon as the new guy who moved into his old childhood home, and for some reason cant stand thinking about another guy sitting on a rocking chair on the front porch.
Man this episode came at just the right time, I’m getting back on an eldritch horror kick and Obox Ob scratches that itch more than I’d have first expected.
Oh I bet the reason his body screams is because of how he was essentially birthed out of the mind of Tharizdun when countless minds and souls were sacrificed in the Obyriths original universe in order to create the shard of ultimate evil to connect their universe to the DnD universe. In the ritual the strongest minds fused together creating the nonphysical mental form of Obox-ob which then somehow reached out (maybe across the far realm) into the mind of Tharizdun. I like to imagine it as the giant scorpion demon birthing out of the head of the chained god. I also imagine that the potentially billions of suffering souls of a dying universe being forced into his head is what caused the mad god to go insane in the first place, I imagine Tharizdun as the god of dreams before his madness which explains how he mentally connected to the universe of the obyriths and how he now invades dreams. Together I believe Obox-ob and Tharizdun fully intended to destroy another universe, and would try again if given the chance. *TLDR the whole universe was safe and happy, then everything changed when Obox-ob's fragmented mind popped out Tharizdun's head, thus creating the shard of ultimate evil and causing the eventual destruction of the entire DnD multiverse.
Obox Ob has been bumping around for a while (first mentioned in the ADnD Monster Manual 2, pg 35 I think). Definitely weird but not much out there on the Demon Lord. I appreciate you guys doing the leg work on these.
Apologies if you guys have already answered this question before, but what direction is the podcast heading when DnD fully changes to the new edition? Is it going to become a general DnD podcast, stay with 5e, or transition to the new game?
We will continue as we always have. Covering new class and monster information while still including the older editions lore-wise. I think specifically with the upcoming changes it will be cool to compare and contrast 5e stat blocks to the new ones.
I wish I had the time to watch your youtube vids more often! I recently started DMing my first campaign and I absolutely could not have done it without you guys.
Just finished watching, that was rad. Everything about Obox-Ob is crazy, especially because for lots of folks, the demon landscape pretty much begins and ends with Demogorgon, Orcus, and Graz'zt. The Obyrith stuff and civil war is such a cool other side to demons. Like y'all said, a lot of evil stuff in DnD is twisted humanoids or twisted animal hybrids. Clearly bad news, but easy to comprehend. But obyrith stuff is just wrong and foul and twisted without rhyme or reason. I feel like there's such a great space for a 5e adventure where it begins with these really well-established demon/angel/devil type of stuff. Pretty standard archetypes. But then, it devolves into a mysterious third party that is just twisted and wrong and crazy and even the demons are like WTF, and it's about the obyriths' resurgence from the shadows.
Love you guys. Long time view since those first few videos. Hopefully RUclips give you guys your dues. One of the best dnd content channels out there. The channel helps me give me my dnd fix between my far too few sessions in the year. And I love learning about dnd lore. Keep up the good work
First mention was AD&D Monster Manual 2, there were several articles put out in Dragon magazine during the Paizo years with 3.5e...pretty sure the Demon specific Fiendish Codex was where he was given proper treatment of story. To be honest I don't ever recall there being any adventure featuring him. Also Demogorgon, "I threw a rock at him!" Orcus, Graz'zt, Obox-ob, and Fraz-Urb'luu return to conversing. "Wuh...it was a BIG rock."
Its a small section of demon and would probably be done in a single video but id love to see a video on the loumara. I don't believe they even come from mortal spirits. Their origins is how ive explained anytime ive incorporated the evil dead into my games.
I looked up the picture of this guy when you did, and boy is he wild looking. I would not want to run into that guy in a dark alley. Or a light alley. Or at any point, at any place.
Hey guys ! First off " shout out to Demogorgon !" Longtime subscriber but first time commenting since I usually watch RUclips on my TV . Love the demon lord episodes alot but tbh the planes episodes are my favorites. Anyways I'm huge fan and keep it up ! " Shout out to Demogorgon !"
Talking about Miyazaki young lady spoke to me just yesterday the 20th and did not know that he put out another of his amazing great ones animations out of some of his early stuff I like 90s from studio jubilee
YES YES YES, 2 Extraplanar D&D lore vids in a row. THIS is the shit that makes my own games better and more informed. Been waiting on ol' Obby for a minute, it's hard to have any obyrith-central plot without mention of this little shitter critter
adding a comment to enter in the giveaway, but also to thank you for all the content! your content has given me so many ideas for things i want to add in this homebrew world i've been slowly building! thank you!
We can excuse the fact that you slaughtered two yugoloths before you realized where you were, outsider, but you pronounced the name of our fair city 'Sijil,' not 'Sigil,' and there can be no excuse for that! - Her honor Rastina Tollin of the Guvners Sigil and Beyond
The oberith are from another crystal sphere and prob turned their head god the shard of ultimate evil. Kind if opp of a god of control and balance. Just saying
Spoilers for Critical Role (Critter's look away) . . . All the "tal'dorei reborn", & "Explorer's guide to Wildemount" GM's thank ya for this episode. 😁🙇🏼♂️
Ah, just when you think we were done with demons. These guys pull it off. From Tanar'ri to Obyriths. Big respect. Love the demons. Praise Demogorgon.
"It's an Abyssal incursion, happening live" You guys made my day! All hail Demogorgon!
Dnd level 1: "there is a dire rat in my basement!"
Level 20: "ok, so his armor is going to scream at you.. Like a lot."
Hope your talking about an iron knight 😂😂😂 aka dnd dollar store gundam
I don't really comment, but today I wanted to really show my appreciation of all the times you made my day better with your videos. Keep doing what you're doing guys
Wow Thank You!! We super appreciate the kind words, and we don't plan on stopping anytime soon! Shoutout to Demogorgon!
I love when you guys cover broad strokes of adventure modules, it's always something doing crazy shit until the adventurers showed up

Obox-Ob is literally me according to that analogy
I thank you for fulfilling anothe request of mine!

Zaphod Beeblebrox was the two headed guy in Hitch Hiker's Guide to the Galaxy. Slartibartfast was the Magrathean coastline designer.

I love this podcast I literally was thinking about using Obox-ob and they delivered his lore within hours best ttrpg podcast
Shoutout to Demogorgon
Yeeeeaaaahhhhh baby, I've been waiting for Obyrith stuff generally and Obox-Ob specifically
I have honestly never heard of this deity, and I am glad you guys covered it! it's ridiculous!

@@Thedungeoncast Awesome! Please keep the lore videos. I don't play much of 5e anymore but they're equally valuable for the OSR games I use now.
Best of luck getting to 50k, forever a fan
I'VE BEEN PRAYING FOR YOU TO DO THIS EPISODE FOR YEARS!! ❤❤❤
I wish I had the time to watch your youtube vids more often! I recently started DMing my first campaign and I absolutely could not have done it without you guys.
Best part of every Monday
Thanks guys, you know the routine :)

This guy is pretty cool, thanks for finally putting a three faced head to the name for me.
Love the Abyssal love! Keep it coming friends! Shout out to Demogorgon!

One of my favorite demon lords
Oh yeah.... Here we go you lore legends keep it Rollin. I'm loving the wierd and obscure Faerun Lore.
Not sure if answered, but i believe you are looking for the "Rod of Seven Parts" boxed adventure set.
Love you guys. Long time view since those first few videos. Hopefully RUclips give you guys your dues. One of the best dnd content channels out there. The channel helps me give me my dnd fix between my far too few sessions in the year. And I love learning about dnd lore. Keep up the good work
It was Zaphod that was president, slartibartfast was one of the architects who built the earth
Fjords! So lovely...
Aw yeah, Nausicaa is the best!
And Obox-Ob is pretty cool too
Long time lurker and love all your content. I get so inspired listening to you guys while driving. Keep it up and looking forward to your successes!
awe yes the Obox-OB the successor to the Xbox Series x.
I don't like demons or devils but I like the eldritch design of this one.
First mention was AD&D Monster Manual 2, there were several articles put out in Dragon magazine during the Paizo years with 3.5e...pretty sure the Demon specific Fiendish Codex was where he was given proper treatment of story. "We probably have to make some dick jokes..." Story of my life!
Great video!!
That's Zaphod Beeblebrox. Slarty Bartfast is the one who does coastlines. Won an award for Norway.😊

I LOVE YOUR CHANNEL!!!
You sound so defeated whenever you begrudgingly shout out Demogorgon. As it should be.
There's always room for more Demons
I don't see Malcanthet, Queen of the Succubi, amongst you list of demonlords. That one would be cool.
Ancient evil always stirs the imagination.
where can i find more information on lacer links would be appreciated
Was the module that one Level 100 module? Bloodstone Pass or something along those lines?
I know that the Bloodstone trilogy is about Orcus but I don't know if Obox-Ob is there or not.
The way Obox-Ob is described makes me picture something similar to Astel from Elden Ring but with more faces and tails.
Similar, but where Astel is kinda beautiful in its eldridge horror Obox-ob is nothing but soul scorching terror and revulsion.
@@jacobfreeman5444 I don't know about beautiful, but I guess I'd say you could call Astel creepy and Obox-Ob as more gross. maybe?
@@RedJester68 Its true though Astel is made of stars and sparkly pretty stuff. Ob is made of unspeakable things and likely doesn't smell very nice
Love the show guys. First RUclips comment, longtime pod listener though!
Have you guys covered Pazuzu? My absolute favorite Demon Lord
Just waiting for that giant blood war multi-episode lore fest lol 🔥
YES YES YES, 2 Extraplanar D&D lore vids in a row. THIS is the shit that makes my own games better and more informed. Been waiting on ol' Obby for a minute, it's hard to have any obyrith-central plot without mention of this little shitter critter
I'd love to know what adventure it was in, Maybe a tie in to one of the Elder Evil or Book of Vile Darknesses from 2nd or 3.5?
I see everyone is a demon now somehow... cool .. praise demogorgon!
Obox-Ob imo is far more terrifying than Demogorgon...
Absolutely Demo is scared of him alone.
Porco Rosso is Ghibli's best movie.
Fight. Me.

I do love me a "vertical maw". My wife has one of them. But what it loses in teeth it gains in demon drool.
Xbox getting real creative with their new console names
Where the slippies though?
Shout out to Orcus
Shoutout to Grazz't
Pazuzzu when!?
Totoro!!!
It might just be me but the volume was really low when I tried to watch.
Thanks for letting us know.
The oberith are from another crystal sphere and prob turned their head god the shard of ultimate evil. Kind if opp of a god of control and balance. Just saying
Demon Lords demon Lords demon obox-ob.
Imagine being a demon named Xbox Bob. Sounds like a lame gamer tag, no wonder he was usurped
