USEPA Lake Guardian passing Port Huron on Aug 20th, 2024

Lake Guardian - Built in 1981, she measures 180’ long by 40’ in beam, she has a cargo capacity of 959 tons. She is owned and operated by the US Environmental Protection Agency, Chicago, IL. She was built at Halter Marine Inc., Moss Point, MS. She was formerly known as the Marsea Fourteen from 1981-1990.She assists in monitoring and reporting on the status and trends of the Great Lakes ecosystem . She has three onboard laboratories: a general purpose or”wet” laboratory , chemistry,
