This really works. When I first started leash training, I used food as motivation. When I finally phased it out, my dog would stop walking unexpectedly and wouldn’t move. The slight downward pressure works every time and now she rarely stops on our walks.

I had a dog when I was younger and he had a certain length of time he would walk. You cold walk for about 45 minutes before he wouldn't go in any direction that wasn't towards home.

that seems pretty reasonable though, 45 minutes in one go may just be too much for them lol
      mine stops every 2 meters.

Tried this with my dog, he sat there for 10 minutes and wouldn't even look at me. Ended up having to pick him up and walk home. I feel absolutely owned by my dog during walks.

I started to do this with my parents older dog and I wasn’t sure if it was the best way but you’ve just shown me it is perfectly acceptable! Thanks so much for this

The pup is pretty stressed. Did you address the underline reason for the stress? Because the dog keeps going back into a sit, even trying to increase distance to possibly get to a different location, seems like the light pressure isn’t really teaching the dog anything other than “well I have no choice”. I would start where ever the dog is most comfortable, even if that’s in the home. Start from square one with leashed walks. Make a positive association with following while the leash is connected.

Does this work with a 75lb dog? Because today my rescue just stops and wants to socialize with people. Today he sat down and wouldn't move lol. I really had to pull hard to get him up.

10 - 30 minutes. That's how long it takes this to work on my dog whenever I need her to come inside. It's EVERY time and has been going on for weeks.

Sometimes they just need a break too. I cannot stand people that yank dogs especially while they're peeing or pooping.
