I can't believe that in the span of a couple months we've gone from 0 to 3 animatics featuring Yzma with her song from Kingdom of the Sun which all turned out amazing (The other 2 by SaveDisk and Ethan Angle)
we’re probably gonna end up making a fanmade Kingdom of the Sun from actor’s voice lines from other movies they’ve done attached to animatics at some point
If they ever make an emperor’s new groove remake (and this is modern Disney, their most likely gonna do it) they better put this song in it. The next actress who plays yzma may not be as good as Eartha Kitt, but maybe she can try to emulate her spirit.
The fact this full song exists made me realize just how much work the voice actors have to do before the animation really starts, and at which points studios can pivot on the plot. But wow do I love Eartha Kitt’s voice. Rediscovering who she voiced throughout my childhood is a joy, as is her work.
There’s definitely WAY more work before animation starts than people realize, but Emperor’s New Groove actually had a wildly chaotic production. There’s a documentary that Disney’s done a ton to keep a low profile on called The Sweatbox, all about how crazy the behind the scenes stuff was.
@@WobblesandBean I wouldn’t think of being mad at the Emperor’s new groove because what we got at the end is a masterpiece on its own, but the concept of Kingdom of the Sun was pretty cool and when watching the sweatbox documentary it did seem like a nice movie with the talent of Sting (which him and Roger Allen had suffered the most from the development of the movie).
Not just the voice actors--think of how much work went into the composing of this song, the lyric writing, orchestration, musicians, direction... Sting did a phenomenal job on this, probably one of the top 10 (I'd say top 5) in a very long list of great villain songs. It should've been iconic, *especially* with Eartha Kitt's delicious performance. All to be cut. Really a shame because Sting's intelligent and clever use of language/rhymes/puns coupled with the sinister yet jazzy music, really worked for this version of Yzma.
Mother Gothel: Finally! Someone who gets me! Maleficent: "Snuff out the light", you say? Maybe our interests align in such an endeavour. Xehanort: All I'm gonna say is, if a boy with a duck and a dog walk up to stop your plans, just quit on the spot.
I feel like they could easily use this song for a standalone Yzma film as she turns her sight from Kuzco's throne to destroying the sun for taking her beauty away.
Weirdly would still be great. Though not having eartha kitt voice her kinda makes it not worth. But if, say, we got her daughter in on it, i think it could be fun.
If Disney ever decides to make a Broadway Adaptation, with the change of a few lyrics to fit the actual plot, it’d be nice to have this in it along with some of the other cut songs 😭
What I love about the way you drew this is that she’s still beautiful. She clearly aged gracefully but society’s so hung up on the fact that female beauty=youth that she can’t see it.
She's giving me serious Meryl Streep, and if you're lucky enough to walk by her on the street, you're not thinking anything but "Damn, there goes a WOMAN."
I love how they perfectly fused a skin care joke, vanity, vengeance, robbing back lost years due to her job in a single perfect song. And how brilliant would be a necromancer mortician as villain of a meso-american culture filled movie. I mean, makes all sense, a royal servant revolting from the confined dark catacombs, erupting an army of mummies to take back the life robbed by royal oppression... What a movie would it be ... Not that the final product was bad, no it was goofy good, and one of my favorite comedic Disney movies, but, could've been even better and serious. I wish Disney does a remake considering this idea.
This song makes me see her character in such a different way. She was smart, powerful, and I'm sure skilled from what her father probably taught her. But the world only held value in her beauty because she was a woman and she understood that. She wanted that love and feeling of worth back and headed down a dark path in the pursuit of it. What's more messed up is in dropping this song and version of the show entirely they did nothing but insult her age and appearance through out Emperor's New Groove and it's sequels. The characters didn't come for her for her cruelty or dark motives, they just described her as visually "scary beyond all reason". Our own real world only perpetuated the literal message and reason why she became so cruel and vain in the first place, her only value and worth as a woman was in her looks which she so desperately tried to hold on to.
Honestly, there's a lot of ageism around Yzma and I don't think we talk about it enough. Like, she ran an entire kingdom by herself and raised an ungrateful little brat of an emperor, and I feel like that should be emphasized way more over how old she is.
Nah.She was ambitious and egocentric.Incas mummies looked very lively si She wanted to transform that konwledge into the fountain of eternal youth. She Will stay young powerful and beatiful.Like a goddes.Women try tomlook good because in many cases they Will get attention and admiration. She wanted to fullfill her onw ego.
I really love the idea of her original plans she wanted immortality for her and her father as well her youthfulness stolen from her seeking revenge against the Sun ☀️ since the Sun is the Royal Family personified. I wish we could have gotten this.
@@striderhiryu2 You're absolutely right that women will try very hard to look good because they know they will get attention and admiration, but you're also proving OP's point correct. Societal beauty/gender standards that constantly tell women (through subliminal messaging) that good-looks are the most important thing to their identity, and are the key to getting people (especially men) to admire & appreciate them. For centuries, a woman's worth was being tied to her beauty & how much men are attracted to her; and they were taught to care about other people's opinions about them for validation. For Yzma, she used beauty to fulfill her ego bc/ society was telling her that good-looks are the #1 factor that allow a woman to feel good about herself. A woman's intelligence and personality were not valued as much as beauty.
@littlemiss-moo3354 Yeah learning about the song, And her original origin, It's like ok we love her as she is & how she turned out, But now we know she could have been so much more. Powerful, Musical, one of Disney big Bads that they just keep using.
This is just straight up my favorite villain track from Disney and it’s heartbreaking to me that it got removed. Watching cool animatics like this fills in the hole in my heart, so thank you
As much as I love this song, I'm not surprised that it was removed - it's significantly changing Yzra's motivations from simply ruling the kingdom to something frankly more interesting and nefarious, but which would have required a large shift in the movie's tone. Either she would be trying to get eternal life, which is admittedly a bit meh, or trying to 'kill off the sun.'
@@KageKobushi Actually, they wouldnt exactly have had to changed the movie theme to make the song fit. This was back from when The Emporers New Groove was titled Kingdom of the Sun and was going to be a more serious theme, more akin to Lion King, Hercules, or Hunchback. So this was likely more central and made a lot more sense in the original script and story. Now... Hunchback and Hercules didnt perform well in box office, so Disney did a full 180. Rather than a serious movie, they decided to make it a buddy comedy. So the song got removed because it no longer fit the characters and motivations. So to speak, the problem isnt that theyd have to change the theme to make the song fit, the reason it was removed is because they HAD changed the theme
@@christhesoulcastermage Much appreciated, and that does explain why the theme of the song was so significantly different! I actually had no idea of TENG's original idea. That's very cool information to know, and I appreciate you expanding on it!
Same. I know they can't realistically finish the movie but why can't they put old full animatics of unreleased movies on disney+... I wouldn't be hard and it would be interesting as hell. Plus it would make that scraped work somewhat useful and even slightly profitable. Hell I'd even begrudgingly pay a small premium to help cover any royalties or whatever to get these unfinished gems if needed.
I am so FURIOUS THAT DISNEY DID NOT FULLY REALIZE THIS NUMBER FOR THE FILM! What a horribly missed opportunity for an amazing addition to The Emperors New Groove. It still would have worked just to give Yzma more screen time! She was under utilized as the villian and a true stand out in the movie! Eartha Kitt deserved more just on the merits of who she was, is and always will be!
I been listening to this song a lot for years now and I realize it sounds very much like a mom suffering a mid-life crisis who use to be a party girl before she had a kid coming up with the plan to get rid of her ‘sun’ so she can go back to her party life.
That's kinda what happens in the movie. Only, instead of just killing him to return to her lavish life, she's also killing him to get revenge on him for abusing her.
I still wish Disney revive this like they did with walt's original Frozen years later. This movie has so much potential, creativity and fans that would be hyped to see it alive again !

Her mithology seems to combine perfectly with both Rapunzel and the Princess and the frog. Like are all inhabitants of the same world with same rules and gods.
You know now I’m thinking of a way the song could come back: Set the film in Egypt. Ra is a predominant sun god in their mythology. Plus we can still keep the undead thing like having dancing mummies and stuff. And there’s only two actresses alive I know of that could do the best imitations of Eartha Kitt for the rest of the film: Candi Milo and Cree Summer
Firstly, this is amazing. You should be very proud of this. Secondly, I love how you incorporated elements of the OG frames shown in the Sweatbox documentary. Brilliant touch. I love the Emperor's New Groove, but part of me wonders about the Kingdom of the Sun. Would it have been a good movie? Who knows. But this is ART
@@mercerholt8299 Exactly, because its more comedic tone, I see Emperor's New Groove as a breather movie. If you want very little dark elements, not a lot of singing (as in not having the characters bursting into song every 5 to 15 minutes), and a more lighthearted and funny moments, this is the Disney film for you.
Absolutely amazing, you should be proud! I love the way you used the existing shots and pieced together the action between them in a coherent way, but kept it all in your own style. I adore how you used the Disney Rough drafts for some frames in the song! Makes a more complete picture of the old idea than just a fan recreation! It's amazing! 👏
We need this epic fantasy musical to be revived! It feels very "renaissance"-era (which makes sense, given when TENG came out), but it could also have an accessible modern flair. They just have to nail down the story and make sure every song is as amazing as this--if not better.
If Kronk was there Kronk: Yzma I don't understand your plan of destroying the sun. Yzma: Why?! I want use power of the sun to restore my youth Kronk: Yeah but planets need the sun light, no planets means no animals, no animals means no food, no food means You and everybody else will die. So whats point of restoring your youth if nobody will be around to see it. Yzma (Face palms herself): I hate photosynthesis.
The only good thing about how they turned down her evilness, is since she wasn't full on irredeemibky evil, and has moments of being a good boss, she legit could survive in the disney verse beyond her defeat.
If I had a nickel for every Disney villain who used a Sun-centered magical scheme to try to keep her youth and beauty, I’d almost have had two nickels. Which isn’t much, but it’s weird that it almost happened twice.
I remember Kingdom of the Sun, but never knew it's plot or anything. I certainly had never heard of this number before! You brought it to life in SUCH a powerful way. I'm amazed by how fluid it is and how easily you conveyed an entire animated musical number (to SUCH a bop.) Bravo, and thank you for sharing this bop and your skills!
I wish they’d tried to make this work for the movie still. It only needed a little dialogue either side of it to frame the Sun as an analogy for Kuzco. It’s honestly one of my favourite Disney villain songs and it was cut, makes me sad.
@@mondenkindqueen It might be a rare exception for me to want a remake but keep in mind that Kingdom of the Sun is different from Emporors New Groove plot wise.
This is so well done, you should be proud of yourself for your hard work on it! Also, I never considered how Yzma would've looked in her younger days, and I absolutely love your rendition of her at that age :D
Yzma is the daughter of a mortician. There's a whole cut song about her upbringing it's a really good song. Highly recommend looking it up it's called "Snuff Out the Light". Assisis' Films has an awesome animatic of the song.
I love how you mixed your art style, the storyboard style from Kingdom of the sun, and used an actual Aztec deity reference in this!!! Beautiful work and while I hope there will be a full animation to this, this is still beautiful! Disney Studios will be kicking themselves even harder for not dropping the film as was before it became Emperor’s New Groove. Bravo!!!
What an incredible animatic! As much as I adore The Emperor's New Groove to pieces, I would have adored Kingdom of the Sun and its accompanying songs. At least this song survives and we get awesome animatics like this! The detail on your take is astounding! Fantastic job!
It's tragic that we have not one but two great songs that would only benefit their movies, but got scrapped in the end. I'm talking about this one and If I never knew you. Both are great song that expand on their respective characters.
While it truly is an amazing song, i can see why they wouldn't put it on the movie 🗿 as this makes yzma out to be a more serious villain to be reckoned with, which wouldn't go well with the more comedic tone of the rest of the movie 😅
Amazing animatic ! :D I feel we get close to an actual animation which really capture this song, if we combine each best part of the 3 animatic we see on yt this last couple of day I think we could have an amazing result !
Honestly I personally think they could have utilized this song, like this specific version, no new actress singing, etc. Like it could be a part of an animated movie involving some adventurers looking for a lost civilization, they end up stumbling upon an underground civilization. Where every person are wearing cloaks, faces and skin covered, etc. Even the kids. Except for one person, the High priestess who would look to be in her late 20's. Needless to say some light would end up touching her through a crack, which would trigger her to age rapidly. *She leaves before they see her age btw* One of the adventurers was wandering around while everyone else was asleep *the others were being taken to have their youth drained unbeknownst to the wandering one* This adventurer would stumble upon her in her sanctum, where she would do a short monologue to herself, then she would sing this song after her age catches up a bit. Reference the possible outcome where she murdered the original priestess when she said "murder treachery and lying". Since she aged her singing voice being different would fit. Of course pay the family of Eartha Kitt, since she's been gone for so long. Her talking voice would be either Cree Summer, or someone else who sounds similar.
This is incredble!! i'm sad the song never made it into the movie since it's such a bop, but hey the final movie was still great, this song is still alive and well, and inspiring awsome art like this!!

If Kronk was there
Kronk: Yzma I don't understand your plan of destroying the sun.
Yzma: Why?! I want use power of the sun to restore my youth
Kronk: Yeah but planets need the sun light, no planets means no animals, no animals means no food, no food means You and everybody else will die. So whats point of restoring your youth if nobody will be around to see it.
Yzma (Face palms herself): I hate photosynthesis.
LOVE LOVE LOVE THIS!! Also I’m really glad more animators are giving this song the appreciation it deserves through each of their own interpretations.
If Kitt was still here she would've loved this
Ohhh riight! The animatic for Yzma. The animatic animated especially for Yzma. Yzma's animatic.
A hidden GEM of a song and I was bummed for a while I couldn't find any full animatics on this - HOW HAVE I NOT SEEN THIS FOR THE YEAR ITS BEEN UP!?!
Theres 3 in total, this one is best animated
The only good thing about how they turned down her evilness, is since she wasn't full on irredeemibky evil, and has moments of being a good boss, she legit could survive in the disney verse beyond her defeat.
If I had a nickel for every Disney villain who used a Sun-centered magical scheme to try to keep her youth and beauty, I’d almost have had two nickels. Which isn’t much, but it’s weird that it almost happened twice.
Dr. Doofenshmirtz from Phineas & Ferb Reference?
this one is also funny to me because it takes the line 'snuff out the light' seriously
Why they didn't include this song in the special features of Emperor's New Groove is beyond me. What a powerful voice!
This is amazing!!! You are super talented. Thank you for creating this animatics for this iconic villain song.
I wish they’d tried to make this work for the movie still. It only needed a little dialogue either side of it to frame the Sun as an analogy for Kuzco. It’s honestly one of my favourite Disney villain songs and it was cut, makes me sad.
agreed
This is such a dream come true. I have been wanting to see someone do a full animatic of this song for so long
cool...sucks that they never at least fully animated this
Maybe they could put it in a new Kingdom of the Sun which was the original title so I can see them tweaking the old plot.
If they ever make a live action version, that’s what they should do.
@@mondenkindqueen It might be a rare exception for me to want a remake but keep in mind that Kingdom of the Sun is different from Emporors New Groove plot wise.
@@leebulger7112 If there ever was a justification for a Disney live action remake, here it is.
@@mondenkindqueen after thinking about it a little I agree.
Not sure why we got 3 Versions of this in only a few months.
But iabsolutely love this, amazing job !❤
R.I.P Eartha Kitt 😢 Yzma just won't be truly Yzma without you around to voice her
Probably the best animatic ive seen for this song, good job dude!
This is literally the coolest animatic ive seen!!!!!!1!
I wish we got this actual evil version of Yzma
So sad Earths Kitt already left us, I feel like Kingdom of the Sun should be made instead of so many movies
This is so well done, you should be proud of yourself for your hard work on it! Also, I never considered how Yzma would've looked in her younger days, and I absolutely love your rendition of her at that age :D
Man, the harmonies in this song slap so hard.
This is sick!!!
I can't believe I've been living my life not knowing that this exists (until a few minutes ago). I love it!
I love this so much! Also to me you kind of made young Yzma look like meg from hercules, not a bad thing, meg is gorgeous
This whole thing is gorgeous and I love how you drew the animals too, especially that jaguar 🐆
Yzma is the daughter of a mortician. There's a whole cut song about her upbringing it's a really good song. Highly recommend looking it up it's called "Snuff Out the Light". Assisis' Films has an awesome animatic of the song.
The moon grows old just like us all
Also Yzma- Still looking stunning
I love how you mixed your art style, the storyboard style from Kingdom of the sun, and used an actual Aztec deity reference in this!!! Beautiful work and while I hope there will be a full animation to this, this is still beautiful! Disney Studios will be kicking themselves even harder for not dropping the film as was before it became Emperor’s New Groove. Bravo!!!
Aztec deity??
Kingdom of the sun is based on the Incan empire, we weren't Aztecs.
Goosebumps with this too! :o Younger Yzma would definitely be a thing to see too.
I love how you incorporate some of the original cut animation into this as well by paying respect to it
You know I really wish they had used this song for the sequel. Woulda been a cool plotline, but instead they just went further into the comedy angle.
Man, I want Kingdom of the Sun to be made, it's too awesome.
Or just have the Emperor's New Groove world be called that if it ever gets adapted into a future Kingdom Hearts game.
What an incredible animatic! As much as I adore The Emperor's New Groove to pieces, I would have adored Kingdom of the Sun and its accompanying songs. At least this song survives and we get awesome animatics like this! The detail on your take is astounding! Fantastic job!
This is the best Animation of Snuff out the Light ive seen up to now, thank you for making it.
How come this masterpiece only has 534 likes??? This is just amazing
I am SO late to the game but I loved how you used yzma as the dog-faced devil
i really, REALLY, adore that you used parts of the origninak animation for this, youre so talented
It's tragic that we have not one but two great songs that would only benefit their movies, but got scrapped in the end. I'm talking about this one and If I never knew you. Both are great song that expand on their respective characters.
you animated this so well. its even better than the first version
I Will never be over how great this song is. I would give so much to watch the original movie that turned into the emperors new groove
Escanor been real quiet since this dropped.
For a first time, pretty good. I like how it picks up at the end.
While it truly is an amazing song, i can see why they wouldn't put it on the movie 🗿 as this makes yzma out to be a more serious villain to be reckoned with, which wouldn't go well with the more comedic tone of the rest of the movie 😅
It was supposed to be a more serious movie. With do many delays they ended up turning it into a comedy.
Disney shouldn't make a reboot to Emperor's New Groove they should make Kingdom of the Sun with This song including
Use to think this song was so boring but now it’s one of my Disney faves
dude, amazing reconstruction of the Yzma song from the kingdom of the sun that became emperor's new Groove.
Upon seeing the darkness around the sun, I thought of the 04/24 eclipse.
This is hands down the best animation for the song I have seen.
HOLY SMOKES THIS IS ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE!! FANTASTIC WORK, THIS IS AMAZING! WOW! 💖💖💖👏👏👏
This is awesome! Great job.
I love how content is still being made for Emperor's new grove, including Yzma amazing song "Snuff out the Light".
It would be really coll to see this fully animated
Love this song.
Young Yzma actually looks pretty good looking.
This is incredible. Its the best animatic i've seen for this. You deserve all the accolades!
🎼Three awesome animatics happened...
But the Mouse throw this in a chimney
And now we pray through endless days
To take. Our revenge. On Disney!🎵🎶
Yeah.
A month after snuffing out the sun, earth surface temperature was aproximately -273 degrees C and Yzma was dead.
Amazing animatic ! :D
I feel we get close to an actual animation which really capture this song, if we combine each best part of the 3 animatic we see on yt this last couple of day I think we could have an amazing result !
I really appreciate that it reconnects with the cuts of the original animation. Great job! ❤️
*She leaves before they see her age btw*
One of the adventurers was wandering around while everyone else was asleep *the others were being taken to have their youth drained unbeknownst to the wandering one*
This adventurer would stumble upon her in her sanctum, where she would do a short monologue to herself, then she would sing this song after her age catches up a bit.
Me gusto hermoso trabajo sigue tú corazón realiza los sueños Dios te bendiga
