I have no idea what the solution is but affording them basic shelter and life necessities would be a good start. They're human beings, our relatives, our neighbors, let's find a solution.
Build all the shelters you want. They don't want to be in the shelters because you can't shoot up in the shelter. Build new high security "hospitals" where they are forced to go and get clean for a year. Then if they can stay clean and employed for a year we can talk about housing assistance.
@@HowardRoark-jo7ik you don’t have a clue what drug addiction does to a person, socialism enforced on them won’t solve a damn thing. It’s more than just doing drugs, these people are trying to survive, most likely hustling to get money for the drugs AND other stuff like food, drinks, phone bills, etc. and maintaining basic life. Wow what’s crazy is that I was just there last week driving by and that gas station is abandoned now. Crazy to see the difference in only less than a year.
in the winter i know some people save up enough money to travel by bus or train somewhere like florida. most get a couple jackets and multiple layers of pants and survival of the fittest happens. its terrible, but things might change with the tent city because it popped up early summer or late fall. so people will try to stay in the tents when it gets cold but there will be a lot of deaths because people wont see or hear those overdosing in their tents if theyre alone. and there will probably be a few fires in the tents from people trying to stay warm with heaters or some homemade shit that will end up burning their tent down. few of the really mentally ill dudes in downtown sleep and lay on these vents that push up hot air from the train tunnels. you can ride the trains from one end of the line to the other from when they open to when they close if youre crafty enough. or just hang out in a station til somebody kicks you out. you gotta understand its like constant new people down there cause for every overdose someone else comes on down and takes up residence at the methadone inn. you WILL get robbed at the shelters and they kick both parties out (and usually ban both parties) in a fight, so if youre just trying to chill at the shelter and some mentally ill dude tries to attack you or you even catch somebody trying to rob you, youre back out on the street, usually with whoever is tryna kill/rob you. theres a delicate balance in maintaining a strong healthy junk habit, and theres not THAT many old people down there. loads of people come from the towns around Boston because its so easy to get drugs there. finding GOOD drugs is a harder feat. if i had to rate it like a restuarant, id give it a 5/10. might get stabbed or robbed, but the foods decent when the good chefs are at work. any time after 11 or 12pm youre out of luck though. they dont stay long.
