You had me at “There’s no place like Rhone!”😄 Love this wine region of France as it’s the land of French Syrah! Your video certainly covered so much - excellent discussion of each AOC, terroir, and climate including the infamous mistral winds. Really great background info! Guigal and M. Chapoutier are also two of my favorite Rhone producers but I would love to hunt down your other recommendations. Outstanding advice! Thank you and congratulations - I think this is one of your best YT videos! Santé!
Thanks so much for watching and the thoughtful feedback! So glad you enjoyed it! Definitely a special region! Hope you enjoy the wines as much as I do! Sante!
@@AttorneySomm Always a pleasure watching your very informative, helpful, and engrossing wine videos! The advice and recommendations you impart with your wine community are absolutely priceless. Merci beaucoup, encore! Greatly appreciate the pin!
Really informative, squeezing lots of wine into a well-timed video. Found this whilst looking for some info on some Cornas I am looking to buy here in the UK 🇬🇧. But you have put me in even more of a quandary on what to stock up on 😅
Appreciating your new video transition effect which is a great improvement over watching your face split in half in previous editions when you moved to the next item. Thanks also for the cellar defenders for Northern Rhone! I still need to buy some Rhone bottles that can be defended:) When I do, your defenders will come into play.
Thanks very much! I still do all the editing myself and have been learning on the job. Appreciate the feedback! This video also could have been titled Top 12 N. Rhone wines from $35 to $90 or something similar. But this format worked well for CdP so I thought I would try it again for N. Rhone. Cheers!
Love La Maison Bleue! An unbelievable value that almost makes me not even want La Chapelle, well until you smell one opened...also love everything I've had by Levet but am dying to try Chavaroche. Vincent Paris Granit 60 Cornas and Saint Cosme Saint Joseph are also some of my favorite values
Thanks for the overview. The only Northern Rhône’s I’ve been collecting are some of the LaLas. I appreciate your recommendations to venture outside my comfort zone.
@@yriafehtivan I don’t buy all the bottles feature. Many I taste and evaluate during trade events or winery visits. I’ve done two videos with $25 wines in the past month if that helps. I do try to focus on a variety of price points so there is something for everyone.
You and I like the same wines! Alain Graillot Crozes-Hermitage is my first ever wine crush! OMG, I think about our align preferences a lot according to what you usually states in youtube. This is just a huge confirmation.
I’m I big fan of the Guigal’s you mentioned. I thought you also might include some Stephane Ogier’s and some Jean-Luc Colombo’s. I’m a fan of the Rhône, both north and south, so I’ll definitely rewatch this video a few times to familiarize myself with your recommendations.
Thanks very much! Yes, those are excellent suggestions as well. Very glad it was useful. I also did one for CdP as well that you may enjoy if you have not seen it already. Cheers!
Great video as always . N Rhone constitutes the largest portion of my cellar and I never seen that changing. Great recommendation on the SJ Chave… although the Offerus is considerably cheaper I wouldn’t put it anywhere close to the quality of the SJ. My understanding is the Offerus line isn’t even made from Chave vineyards and they are simply acting as a negotiant… maybe an idea for a future video is a deep dive on some book recommendations? I see lots behind you.
Thanks very much! Completely agree with you about the Offerus, but thought it worth a mention. I did a video about 3 favorite wine books about a year ago. Here is the link: ruclips.net/video/uGioLAg-3s8/видео.html
Thank you for all the videos. Just catching up. Believe it or not I take notes, and would suggest having the name (type face) of the wine on the screen for little longer. I find myself having to rewind a lot so I can write down the name.
I am currently drinking 2012 Jaboulet Crozes Hermitage in an attempt to avoid drinking my 2010 Cote Roties and Hermitage. I have some 2015 Cornas, which will stay in the merchant's cellars for a few years. I tend to avoid St Joseph because it is so variable. Love Guigal, btw.
Thanks very much for weighing in. Sounds like a good approach! Agree Saint Joseph can be variable, but the picks I include here are all from top locations in the hills to the north. Definitely not one to take a flyer on at a restaurant though. Cheers! 👍🍷
Just binge watched a magnum of your videos - great content ! So, with your knowledge of Syrah/z, wanted to see a your take on the differences and recommendations on the various areas of this varietal. France, Aus, Paso,, etc. - A new Subscriber :)
Thanks very much! My favorite region is Cote Rotie, but I do enjoy expressions from all over the world. I particularly enjoy the aromatics from cold climate Syrah!
Hi Attorney Somm, loving the videos. In the UK, the 2017 and 2018 Chave are available. If you had to buy one case only, would you buy 2017 or 2018? I'm a little scared by the 15% ABV on the 2018, even if it might be a little earlier drinking. Any thoughts gratefully received.
Thanks very much! Both are excellent, but if you prefer a lower ABV then I would go with the 17. Hope you enjoy it as much as I do! Very glad you enjoy the videos. Cheers! 👍🍷
Hello! Great question! If you are a Syrah lover (as I am), then I definitely think it is worth it. This wine already shows well with some air, and you can enjoy it any time over the next 15-20 years.
Well I’m pretty sure there aren’t many of your viewers that have la la’s sitting in their cellars that need to be defended. 😁 but nice list nonetheless.
Thanks! Actually an earlier comment from a viewer was that the LaLas were the only N. Rhones in his cellar. Try hard to publish videos with wines across a wide variety of price points so there is something for everyone. Cheers!

If you have a Total Wine & More in your state, try the Halos de Jupiter Cotes du Rhone. Amazing value!
