What a beautiful, moving, soulful, heartfelt song! Thank you to all the singers and musicians, musical director and writer for releasing the love of Our Amazing Lord! Thank you.
Bello, dolce, edificante! L'ho tradotto e lo canterò con mia moglie perché rispecchia i nostri sentimenti e proponimenti da oltre cinquant'anni. Chi serve Dio con tutto il cuore non se ne pentirà mai!!
+Sheila Elizabeth: Yes it was. It was written by John Gowans, (lyrics), and John Larsson, (music), or as those in The Salvation Army would refer to them 'Gowans and Larsson". These two were the 'Rodgers and Hammerstein' of The Army from the 70s to the early 90s. I think they collaborated on about 15 musicals together. This particular song came from one of their last musicals they written together called 'Man Mark II', which was first performed at Macomb, Illinois, during the 1986 International Youth Conference, (which i was at). Another great song that came from that musical was one called "They Need You, They Need Me, They Need Christ", which is also on RUclips. You should check it out.
I went on a ministry trip with (Captain) John Larsson and his young people when I was 18 and we used a number of songs from 'Takeover Bid' - 50 years ago! Wonderful gifts of both Johns.
I was at Macomb as well. I was the DYS in the Alberta and NWT Division in Canada at the time and we took a group of 45 youth from across that province to the International Youth Congress. What a wonderful event. Great memories
I was there at the International Youth Congress in Macomb. My wife and I were Divisional Youth Secretaries in the Alberta and Northwest Territories Division in Canada at the time and brought a busload of youth to the IYC. Man Mark II had a profound influence on all of us. We are still in ministry all these years later. God is so faithful and this song still remains our passion.
@@mikenorth483 I forgot to say that you may know that the concert for the 2 Johns, when Gowans retired as general and Larsson was taking over is available on RUclips too. Dedicated to the musicals of course.
@@heatherberry2852 Really enjoyed that, I was away from the Salvation Army for 55 years and missed the musicals period so had some catching up to do. However before I started my drift away from the SA and faith I was in the RAF School of Music at RAF Uxbridge and attended Hillingdon Corps where the officer was young Lt called John Larsson.
The sentiment of this song has been the passion of my life for the past four decades. I've lived a life of incredible fulfillment, watching the Lord Jesus transform lives all over the globe. I have spoken to tens of thousands who have been delivered from every possible kind of prison - physical, emotional, spiritual. and literal. While I don't know why this in in the comedy category, I do know about the amazing joy that Jesus brings! I hope you do too. :-)
As it's part of a musical maybe for you it doesn't stand alone but for myself and many others it speaks to our hearts, never knock what you don't understand
@@bobbeasley6810 you’ve spoken to tens of thousands ? Seriously? This cannot be true, which sadly undermines everything else you have written ….. tens of thousands who all say the same thing?
Jonathan---being that it had been 2 months since you posted this, I do not know if you went on towards finding a track for the song. That being said however, (and presuming you have not gone further then just making this post), I would advise that you contact your local Salvation Army Chapter. If you, yourself, are already part of The Salvation Army, you need to look no further then your Salvation Army Corps Officer. One you tell him/her of your intention, he she can contact the 'trade' department of your territorial headquarters, and make the request to purchase a track sheet of the song. If you are not a part of The Army, you can still contact the person(s) in charge of a local Corps Community Center, (again, make sure it is a CORPS COMMUNITY CENTER section of The Salvation Army in your area, and not another program such as a rehab center, or a thrift store), make the request for the track, and that person should be able to help you with the right process. I hope this helps, because this REALLY is a great song, with a very simple message. I for one hopes that it never dies out. Another great song of Larsson and Gowans collaboration that should be checked out and passed on, also comes from the same musical of Man Mark ll --and it is called "They Need You, They Need Me, They Need Christ." Check it out by putting this link in your google search: ruclips.net/video/6M9wBWGWna8/видео.html
A truly powerful, and true calling song. However, I am curious as to why the word 'comedy' was chosen as a category this song should be in? There is nothing comedic about this song.
A beautiful Christian song

It is wonderful and spiritually uplifting. Though I can't understand why it is described by the category of comedy.
Martin Johnson it's because it comes from a Christian musical theatre production - musical comedy in its wider sense
It was written By John Gowans Salvationist
Simply beautiful

Lovely
who produced this video? I'm trying to cite it in a school assignment, but am not finding information.
The writers were John Gowans (lyrics) and John Larsson (Music) . John Gowans is now in heaven.
@@heatherberry2852 Sadly John Larsson has recently been promoted to Glory too.
@@mikenorth483 Thank you. I heard. it was in March and I was able to watch the celebration of his life in April.
