The nyab can be good be of the niam pog isn't then they won't get along. I recognized that you were also patient and willing to teach your nyab. That was what helped your relationship blossom.
I've heard stories of some.niam pog that didn't like the nyab from the beginning so they never gave their nyab the chance to acclimate into the family.
This story is very good for some niam pog to hear and learn from. The niam pog should be open minded, patient and accepting that this is the woman your son chose.

This story reminds me of my mom teaching my sister in law to speak hmong and cook. My mom just pass away for 1 year and 8 month now. This story make me miss my mother. Now and days kids don't speak hmong anymore but if they willing to learn it's is possible. Now my sister know how to cook and speak hmong a little.

Hmoob children in America can't speak Hmoob at all or don't speak Hmoob well is a problem in the Hmoob communities. To the Hmoob parents, if we love, respect our culture; n we don't want to loose it then we have got to do a better job at teaching our children to speak Hmoob at home. My nephew is 10 years old n doesn't speak a word of Hmoob at all. His parents aren't making any efforts to teach him, either. As his aunty, i tried to talk to him in Hmoob like say "hello, how are u? What r u eating, etc.". I asked him to repeat after me that way he gets the tones n pronunciation correct. Its harder to spaek a language well if u don't start when u r younger.
50 years from now, i think 75% of the Hmoob population in the USA will not even known how to speak Hmoob much less know Hmoob culture or etiquette at all. That will be sad!
