I'll be attending temple next year as the class of 2021 and I couldn't be more excited! Your videos are so helpful and I love watching them
aww. congrats and thank you so much
SAME!!!!
Is roommate a optional or do you get to choose whether you want to live alone or with a room mate? How are the professors like?
Thiri May Thu you either find a roommate (maybe through the class of 2021 fb page) or your roommate would be random. you don't get the option of not having a roommate unless you choose to live in a single room maybe at morgan or the edge. even if you book a room there is still a chance you won't have a roommate. hope this helped!
Andrea Leoni thank you for replying.. last question : how are the professors ?
I love your videos so much! I'm super exciting to go to Temple next year and even though I'm extremely nervous to leave all my friends I can't wait. I'm glad you like it there so much!
congrats!! and i'm sure you'll love it here just as much as i do :)
thank you so much for this 😊i'm hoping to attend TU in the fall . i'm just waiting on my decision
glad you enjoyed it! and good luck
Thanks for this video. I'm applying for Temple and this was very informative and gave me a good perspective on what to expect!
I just got accepted this week to TU for the Fall and watch your vlogs is helping me out alot. Thanks so much!!!!
yay congrats!!! if you're going to accepted students day, I'll probably be there volunteering :)
Omgs thats amazing. hopefully I can see you get some more info! Your honestly amazing
awww. that's so sweet of you
I'm going to Temple this fall! Graduating class of 2021, so excited to attend! Question though, is it cheap to buy food or get a premium/basic meal plan? It's so expensive!!
I'm 90% sure that all freshman have to get a meal plan and the smallest/cheapest meal plan you can get is basic10 as a freshman. There is a grocery store next to Morgan called Fresh Grocer, but it's not the cheapest if you are getting food every week. Also, depending on where you are living it may be easier to use a meal plan. Residence halls have community kitchens so you always have that option, but they are only open and available for use from a certain time period. The difference between basic and premium is that with premium you can swipe other people in to dining halls or use more than one meal swipe to get food (ex: at the student center if what you got is more than the price of a single swipe). With basic10, for example, you only are given 10 swipes per week and it resets every monday. If you have extra swipes in a particular week, they do not roll over to the following week. Food trucks and the food court near Anderson are decently priced, but because I have a meal plan I try to use up my swipes before spending actual money on food. Hopefully this helped answer your question!!!! Congrats on getting into Temple :)
I want to live in White Hall, as (I feel) it's the prettiest and not as majorly busy as being in the center of the campus.
And I understand, I'm 95% sure I'm going with the basic meal plan, since I live out of state and the tuition is very high (even going into the Liberal Arts school!)
I enjoy living in white (especially the 3rd floor lol). If you end up getting a 2 person dorm, which there are not many of, it's significantly bigger than the 4-person suite. I too am from out-of-state and go to the College of Liberal Arts
If you don't mind me asking then, how much financial aid did you get? I'm just worried I'm not going to get enough, and I have no EFC with my financial aid. :/
HanamiDango what state do u live in?
You were saying you had money going into Temple, was that from money that you've personally saved or grants? I love your videos, they're SOO helpful and they get me super excited!! :)
Thanks for making this video it definitely helped!
love this so much!!!!!
I'm hoping to become a TU graduate in the year 2021, but my family and I are worried about the safety in Philly (esp. North Philly). What it is like going there safety wise?
I personally feel super safe on campus. We have our own police station on campus as well as policemen who are always riding around on their bikes or are parked by a street corner. They are very nice and definitely care about everyone's safety. Even on the weekends when students are walking to parties, you will still see cops patrolling the areas they know students usually walk by and are there if anything goes wrong. We also have a walking escort program which basically is for those who may be a little uncomfortable walking back to their dorm at night (or something like that) and this can be used at any time of the day/wherever you may be on campus. After you call the walking escort number a policeman would meet up with you and walk you to your destination so you wouldn't have to walk alone. Also, here's an article I found comparing other Philadelphia universities on safety if you wanted to know more: www.phillyvoice.com/how-safe-temple/
Andrea Leoni Thank you so much..
I'm planning on going to temple next year i'm so excited, do you recommend bringing a bike or hover board to travel across campus with??
There are lots of people who bring bikes and skateboards (I also saw this guy around campus riding his unicycle to class). Most dorms have bike rooms to keep your bike indoors. I wouldn't know what you would do with your hover board when going to class. Also, the sidewalks may be a little uneven for that but there is a guy on my floor that rides his hover board around the building. Hope this helped :)
Hey, I'm looking to go to Temple next year and I was just wondering which dorms would be the best for freshmen and making new friends? Btw would you happen to know anything about biology majors and their work load? Just trying to get some info before applying, thanks!
I made so many friends the 1st week on my floor and that's mostly because I'm in an LLC. Applying to be in an LLC will definitely give you an advantage in making new friends mostly because you have to live with each other and especially during welcome week you have to do activities together. I hear that white hall 3rd floor is social every year, plus white hall is suite styled which is nice. I'm also biased because I live there and I don't really have experience living in any other residence hall. Morgan Hall is by far the nicest and newest residence hall and Peabody is the worst. My roommate is a bio major and I believe she has tutors for calc and chem if that information means anything to you. Let me know if you have other questions and good luck!!!
Andrea Leoni thanks!
Andrea Leoni you mentioned an LLC, which one is the best and least amount of workload and how do you get assigned a floor? Are room assignments random or do you get to choose?
Well when I was applying to be in an LLC I just chose the ones that I was most interested in. The LLC you get accepted into/chose to be apart of will determine where you will be living. For example, my LLC and Urban Owls are in White Hall whereas the music and film LLC are in J&H, etc and your room assignments are random. I am only knowledgeable on the LLC's in my building and I know the Urban Owls have to take a 1 credit class for being in the LLC, but my LLC does not. We are supposed to be doing community service but really it's all optional. Some kids in my LLC even say they are only in it because housing filled up and they needed somewhere to live.
Andrea Leoni thank you so much, u helped a lot!!
hey I'm considering TU and I was wondering how you feel about the campus, do you feel like you're missing out on the suburban college feel that most universities have?
hi! i never felt like i was missing out on the suburban college life mostly because although center city is a few subway stops away, i still feel like i'm part of a campus whereas a school like NYU might be different because it doesn't have a stereotypical college feel. on a nice warm day between classes i can lay on the grass in the middle of campus and when i do so, i sometimes forget that i'm attending a city school. for me, philadelphia is unique as a city because of all the green space that there is. also, i personally wanted to attend a school close to a city because if i ever get board i can just hop on the subway and explore. hope this helped :)
Did u visit the NYU campus before? I want to go there.
yes. I was there for a film program my junior year of high school at Tisch every saturday for 14 weeks. NYU was also one of my top choices because I wanted to go to a city school. Some people love the city aspect so much that it doesn't matter if it has a stereotypical college feel to it. So if you want to go there work hard and make that happen!!
Hey, I applied to temple and my application was put on "hold".Do you know what this means? Did it happen to you?Does temple give good scholarship packages?
I'm not really sure what being put on "hold" means. Do you think it means that you were waitlisted? If not, I would call the school to clarify. From my experience when you receive your scholarship package it lists the federal subsidized loan, federal unsubsidized loan, and then Temple's grant to you. With just the grant they gave me almost $10k for the entire year. I also know that from talking to other students, the grant is dependent on your financial aid so it will vary from student to student. Hope this helped!
Hi, I'm thinking about going to temple. I plan on going to my community college first, then transferring. Is it mandatory to dorm at temple your first year?
Life Proof Hello! It's not mandatory to dorm your first year. I know plenty of first year students who lived in apartments
Andrea Leoni cool!! Because I have 2 cousins, one is going to Drexel, and one is going to Philly U. We want to get an apartment, but I wasn't sure if dorming was mandatory because some colleges do that. Thanks.
Life Proof how will you afford your apartment?
Michelle Hernandez we are splitting the price between the 3 of us, we each will have a job, and money set aside.
I reallyyyyy want to get into TU ! Hope I get accepted.
Do you think the classes are fairly easy or difficult ?
One last thing lol How are the teachers ?
Hope I can meet you one day :)
I would say it depends on what class you're taking. You could definitely find some easy gen-eds to take, but depending on your major you might have required classes that are more difficult. As for teachers, that also depends because everyone is different. From my experience I really liked a majority of my teachers and i'm sure other TU professors are likable in similar ways. You could always search professors on Rate My Professor but I didn't use that when I scheduled my 1st semester courses and I ended up with really good professors. Hope that helped! And good luck
Thank you so much! Helped a lot :)
Hi!! Can you tell me anything about temple's film program? Thanks!
hi! I switched out of the film program 2 weeks before moving in so I can't give you much information, but I can ask one of my friends who is in the film program to comment on this post :)
Andrea Leoni sure that'd be great!!
What is an LLC? Hoping to go to Temple for college! Loved it so much when I visited!
It stands for Living Learning Community and depending what LLC you're in (if you choose to join one) you do optional activities with people in your hallway who are also in that LLC. For example, since I'm in the community service LLC my RA has lots of community service events planned out for us to do throughout the year. Also, if you are already committed you can apply to be in an LLC through TU Portal in the housing section. Hope this helped :)
Does being in an LLC affect your time in any way? What made you choose to be in one?
From my experience with the community service LLC it doesn't. The service events are all optional and some people truthfully joined an LLC because they needed housing. At the same time, I heard that a class is required for the Urban Owls LLC but I think it was just for the first semester not the whole year. Also, it is not guaranteed that you get into an LLC but you can apply for more than one and then choose which you would want to be apart of.
I decided to apply because I thought "why not?" and I really think it was a good decision because I made a good amount of friends my first day since we were all in the same LLC.
Ok! Thank you so much for replying, it helps a lot!
and we should collab sometime!! I go to Temple too :)
