That truck is a coal rolling beast! Unfortunately for me bullnose fords are hard to find in decent shape here, they all rusted out years ago. Seemed like a good drive, trans didn't sound too happy but lasted. I have 3 IDIs, they all smoke a little blue which clears up quickly. One of them, a 1989 f450 has noisy injectors when cold but they go silent when it builds the slightest bit of heat. Pretty sure it needs a thermostat since it can't even get into the normal temp range.
obs ford diesels inc. same thing here my dream truck is a bullnose f250 4wd 6.9 idi but everyone here either wants a fortune for them or they’re all rusted out and not worth saving
Mines a hard start, but never smokes blue at all, just a bit white when it's cold. Had to shove some cardboard in front of the rad to get it to warm up at all with it being so cold out.
@@CharredSteak I no longer have the 6.9. Truck was getting far too rusty and had enough wrong with it in addition to the rotted body to cut it up. I do, however have 3 7.3 IDIs. One in a 1989 F-super duty, a factory 7.3 IDI turbo in a 1988 f350 4x4 dump truck, and another 7.3 in a 1991 F-super duty. All 3 are great trucks and will be sticking around as long as I can save them. Wisconsin winters are tough on anything steel.
@@OBS_Ford_Diesels_Inc Managed to find a relatively clean 93 a few days ago, minimal rust on the body thank god. If it weren't for the flashing OD light the truck would be mint. Pretty sure i lost the clutch in the TC

It sounds like you're timing advance cam might be out of adjustment that's why it clatters so loud when you put your foot in it, that also will cause more black smoke.
Hey boys I have a question for you I have a n p 435 gear box from a 302 , will that box hold up to a 6.9? If it matters my final ratio is 4.11 . Also I seen what I think was a solid axle swap, what did you use? And does it need a suspension to be level afterwords? In the course of trial n error any thing you would do different.
it has a built injection pump and over sized injectors. Unfortunately the turbo doesn't boost until 2,500 or so. So at low RPM's it just isn't getting enough air.
I run mine over here on the highway . It runs 57 mph. Due to 4.11 finals , Not all out but it likes it, I get compliments but also undetermined looks to. I don't care.
6.9 is the opening introduction to the international harvester Navistar international business program that ford haves in 1986 and the 1995 years and the 2000s 7.3 idi diesel engines and they got about the same rpm and the better torque coming from there power output
@@rickcooperjr62864 that 6.5 that we run was up to 1400 multiple times. No it's not good, but it's still going. And these Internationals are built stronger.

It is an ATS turbo, it came with the engine so which specific model i am not sure it's markings are terrible. It has a full rebuild kit, plus ARP head studs, 100cc fuel pump, and stage 1 injectors.

This engine came from the blue f250 they have. Supposedly had over 600,000 miles until they removed it and completely rebuilt it. The brown f250 in the video had a bad 6.9 with the ATS turbo. They put the turbo on the 6.9 they rebuilt from the blue f250. It has ARP head studs, bigger injectors and a 100 cc injection pump. It's built to make power, but strong enough to not blow up like the previous engine. They bought this brown f250 with the bad turbo charged 6.9. This is the truck that started the channel, so nice that it finally runs!
Flip down the visor and read: 1/2 throttle cold start normal temp, full throttle cold start in freezing temp. I was surprised about that.
Learned that the hard way (never starting a wearing starter out)
How dare you?!!
Ol Peg would be proud. Only thing, not enough Cosby in a can.
Them old IDIs need a turbo and propane injection to run great. They can be amazing rigs with very little work.
Little work, lots of money. Like 3500 for turbo kit
@@carter.coleman yeah, for a turbo that'll last 300k+ miles and make the engine noticeably stronger

Either the pump timing is wrong or you turned the fuel up really high, shouldn't be smoking that much especially with a turbo.
