If you’re really into victory rolls and pin curls there’s this tool on Amazon you can buy called a roll and go. It’s about $30 with shipping but it’s a good investment if you’re into the vintage look.
Tip, when doing victory rolls try to flatten them back against your head. Rachel Maksy has some good videos on how to do them. Other than that it is just lots of practice.

In terms of fashion and just the visual aesthetic, I find light academia to be pretty similar to dark academia with the plaids, blazers & coats, etc but with a lighter color palette. In terms of culture however its the opposite of dark academia as dark academia has a macabre interest in death, murder, existentialism, etc. while light academia is more positive. Personally, when it comes to culture I'm more a fan of light academia, although it doesn't seem as popular as DA (yet!)
