I agree that John Deere made changing the oil on this a real pain. The oil filter is too hard to get to thru the small hole in the skid plate. They should have made it easily accessible from the top so old men with bad knees could get to it easier. If I had known how hard this was going to be, I would have bought something else. Thanks for sharing your experience!
@@LedgemereHeritageFarm I just tried removing the seat and the tray underneath to see if I could get to the oil filter that way. No joy! I could see it, barely, but would not be able to get to it and remove the old one and install the new one. I am going to investigate some kind of remote mount. I am going to see what WIX might have. I am not interested in paying $50 a filter. I love driving this, but if I could recoup my investment, I would sell this puppy.
I've sold JD for over 17yrs and they only make things harder as it goes. Even the shop guys complain how difficult it is to do some things especially on gators, so tight everywhere. I snagged my 590M almost a year ago when inventory was almost non-existent so I claimed one that was on order. I found this most useful doing it myself. Break-in change 8hrs - HAHA, yeah, it doesn't get used a lot. Bought it mostly for plowing snow and put a BossXT plow on. It's pretty incredible on this machine.
I’ve often thought about a plow on mine. So far, so good with it. I really like the power steering and it’s been very handy on my farm, I don’t know how I ever lived without it. Thank You for watching
@@LedgemereHeritageFarm We replaced a 4-wheeler with ours, love the change. Wife uses it as a garden buggy. She puts down at least a couple pallets of mulch in the spring. The plow is nice, but for what it costs it better be. It exceeded my expectations. What JD has to offer is kind of embarrassing when you put your hands on something like a Boss. It was an absolute beast. I went through 2ft+ snow this winter in V position in high range no problem.. BTW, after watching your vid, ran to town for the filter socket before I even started. I could see there was no option. Best $6 you'll ever spend.
Once upon a time, an AB nought an XUV 550 S4. It lasted 3 years before it exploded. Nobody wanted it in trade except Deere. They gave me a great deal on this one. So far, so good, my brother has a Polaris Ranger and loves it…my local Kubota dealer kinda sucks
Your local K dealer is like ours, my JD dealer I’d worse, hdd we won’t sell me K oil filters. Dealing with them causes a lot of angst. The nice guy that treated me well at JD retired. So I’m left with guys that work there that really don’t want to work for a living, before they wait on you they tell each other how their new trucks are doing………they wait on their buddies quickly though……I buy all my hydraulic lines now from a guy that builds all types of lines, he’s more than happy to wait on customers and say, “I’ll have it for you in 20 mins!”. Not, “give us a call tomorrow and we have it for you”…….oh well, such is life today!!!

Your stuff looks like my stuff. Many years ago when I had lots of time on my hands I power washed everything, now I use an air hose, (sometimes). 😂😆👍

@@diamondharp I honestly wanted a Ranger, but the Polaris dealer wouldn’t take a John Deere 550 in trade

Before you bought green, did you check out Kubota?

I meant JD won’t sell my K oil filters…I used to buy filters by the case.
