Ninety-nine percent of 'Trane's fans on this post weren't even born when BALLADS was released in mono (Impulse! A-32) and stereo (lmpulse! AS-32) on January 3rd, 1963. John William Coltrane, Sr. was one of the extensions of what was created by the original exponents of modern jazz, John Biirks "Dizzy" Gillespie and Charles "Yardbird," "Bird," or "Charlie" Parker, Jr.

The moments at 1:02 to 1:30 is phenomenal. Coltrane and his band were something else.

    King Coltrane himself!
This is a time machine, if ever there was one. Sonically sound and calming. It embodies grace and reasoning of its time, and moves even beyond it-into the past and future.

It feels like the sax it's going to fall apart cause Coltrane takes to the limits. What a musician and a human being

TOO YOUNG TO GO STEADY was originally recorded by NAT "KING" COLE with the music of NELSON RIDDLE. 'Trane loved Nat's version so much, he decided to record it himself, and the rest is history.

Plus, Riddle was just the best arranger of his time!

@@joelkeeley793 ...Yes, indeedy! It was the unforgettable Nat "King" Cole who made Nelson Riddle famous.

@@joelkeeley793 ...However, there was also Pete Rugolo, Les Baxter (Nelson Riddle was the latter's copyist), Gordon Jenkins, and Ralph Carmichael, who was Nelson Riddle's copyist. These arrangers recorded with Nat "King" Cole. Carmichael was the last one to work with the former.
