Former CS undergraduate, now middle-aged dude's perspective: one day you'll really look back with a lot of happiness at that time you spent in between classes with your friends like in this video. Undergraduate CS can be very stressful in many ways, but the responsibilities of a career and family life may feel a lot weightier in 20 years. As an undergraduate you get to spend time with wonderful, smart people from all over the place, learning, growing and having fun together. It'll be one of the best times of your life, so try not to stress too much about missing a question on a test, that won't even matter in the long run, instead try to enjoy the experience as much as you can! 😀
@@manhalrahman5785 I found assignments and their deadlines to be much easier than task deadlines as a software engineer. But I found exams to be worse than software engineering tasks, personally. Maybe it was just test anxiety, which is common. But for me anyways, I found exams more stressful than any software engineering work (or other work) I've had to do, I don't miss them at all. 🙂
This day in the life video felt really refreshing compared to most other "day in the life" videos; seems like a great mix of both productive grinding and fun hangouts with friends. Keep it up!! :D
Hey nick, good video. I've been a software Dev for a while and I got to say, your vlog just confirmed that university hasn't changed since I was there. It's really nice to see the perspective of a student/junior Dev, helps keep me up to date on how you guys feel/learn/think when I see you for an internship or your first job, so don't give up on RUclips man, it's way more useful than you might think. Good job While I'm at it, feel free to reach out if you ever want a second opinion on some of your code,, it will be my pleasure.
You'll be fine :) you'll have an especially solid foundation if you'd like to get into AI or research. With 6 coop terms, you'll come out of uw as a really strong job candidate regardless if it's math or CS! Hope that helps
Bruh.... a realistic day in my uoft cs life is waking up at 11 am... missing half of the lectures and ignoring the electives and watching youtube and inst almost every single time......
Hi Nick, Thanks for uploading such an informative video. I accidentally came across to your video, after I knew that my daughter is accepted to the Waterloo Engineering. I started to search about Waterloo Engineering. My daughter is accepted offers from UBC's Science, Waterloo Engineering, and still waiting from UoT's Engineering. We are from Vancouver, I am wondering if you could help to give me some advice on how to choose where to go her uni study. Thank you and all the best to your study.
Hey Robert, UBC is an amazing school, so congrats to her! I can’t speak too much about UBC or Toronto, but as a Waterloo student, I can say that the co-op program is fantastic and gives students great opportunities to gain experience while still in school. It’s the main reason I chose Waterloo- I’m currently finishing my 5th coop and have learned so much over the past few years. You can’t go wrong with any of the 3 though :)
Thinking about doing a 6 month coding boot camp and thinking about a career change, What do you think? I’m currently a finance director making 200k. I have my bachelors in finance and accounting and I have a masters in business.
Guys. I need help. A good one. I am from Pakistan And i am looking forward to study at uni of waterloo. Bscs Is it recommended Will it be hard to get admission About scholarship.

I'm 23
A thing I've observed is - meeting exam and quiz deadlines are much easier than meeting task deadlines as a software engineer
