OMG the prices! I remember sitting at my grandmas and watching this show with my aunts and cousins and everyone yelling and having fun! Now I am 69, that was many years ago!

With the way this lady jumped around, surprising she didn't wet the floor.
First, that lamp is awesome! Second best prize there. Second, the car prices were LOW. Sweet wheels.
The car still has its protective pastic on the seats. Can't be more brand new than that.
My mom had the same hornet but it was a '71, we had it towed to my aunt's house because it needed a carb, and our old neighborhood was strict about expired tags, soon afterwards, we went to Florida on vacation, when we got back, my cousin Dawn sold it to get drug money

Like other kids, I watched Bob during summer vacation every day back in the '90s. I still watch him on Plex with the reruns but now I can binge watch them

They would stop tape in between each "game." Mostly to allow the backstage crew to reset for the next one without the audience seeing or knowing what was coming next. Bob also had a Stand-In for those times.

Not only that, all five of the tags, at this time, were within the same price range. $3300 in this case.
It was a guessing game, it was fun! What it was really was a sale show, everyone wanted these things!

It seems like not a whole lot has changed in terms of prices for the other items in almost 52 years except for car prices.

Quality of items were way better in the 70’s. You actually got a quality item instead of throw-away junk.
Well, one thing has changed. You can't buy any of the four items she won new for any price. Only Lucien Piccard watches still exist, though probably not in that style. Brother still exists, but they don't make that kind of typewriter any more. Guild, Beatrice Foods and AMC don't exist.
There are those who would argue that AMC cars were not quality items.
Yes, well, when nothing is made in the USA any more and everything comes from places that pay one half to one tenth the wages of what American workers deservedly get, because Americans have been trained by every facet of the culture to prioritize quantity and price over quality, companies respond and find a way to get them cheap stuff and still increase their own stockholder's profits. If you're lucky, you still get a quality product. If American consumers put quality first, they'd own a lot less stuff they don't need and what they had would last longer. There would also be far fewer workers overseas dependent on selling to American consumers, but also far fewer American consumers dependent on supplies of items coming in from abroad. Unfortunately, the choice is never put to American consumers in that way. We are simply told that we want more and more and more. And then people are dismayed by the low savings rates in America, even among the middle class.
AMC Hornet was a pretty decent small car in the 70s. The 304 V8 would scream the tires.

I don’t know, I can’t think when my bladder is full, especially not pregnant, but I have held it for important things so many times and if it was me, which it could have been, I would have kept guessing to get that car & the grill, typewriter and that beautiful watch.

An optioned-up prize car for once. A bit too optioned-up, though, AMC's V8 was nowhere near as good as their straight 6. Likewise, upwards of half of all Hornets (depending on the year) were wagons, AMC had the compact wagon segment to themselves for the first half of the '70s.

Times have changed. Back in 1973 cars only came equipped with AM radio. Later FM was added. Today's cars come equipped with GPS, Sirius XM Satellite radio, etc. At least with GPS we no longer have to rely on road atlases.

I remember the early days of Wheel of Fortune when they would win money and have to use the money to shop from the featured prizes. The products were overpriced ,not very practical and the taxes would have been higher than what the product was worth if you tried to sell it.If you didn’t want to shop and just ‘bank’ the money if you hit a bankrupt in later rounds you would lose the banked money too.They had a Dalmatian dog statue that was the lowest priced prize that was two or three hundred dollars.Back then that was a months rent in many places.
Carol didn't win the Hornet. She said $33,342 for the car, which wasn't one of the choices. It's been 51 years. The Price Is Right needs to go over to Carol's house right now to check if the Hornet is still running. If so, they need to take it back. ;)
