    Star Citizen is an open development, crowd funded project from Cloud Imperium. Consisting of 2 games, Squadron 42 a single player, story driven campaign putting you in the middle of the Vanduul attacks as an up and coming UEE Navy pilot, and Star Citizen, a highly detailed
    first person MMO set within a persistent universe where there are no limits. This includes, space, and ground aspects, massive spaceships with full interiors and interactions, a full dynamic economy which reacts to the players actions allowing for anything you can imagine.
    It is all being built on the StarEngine (a modified version of Amazon's Lumberyard Engine).
    Please bare in mind that this is heavily WIP and in an alpha state in which much of the foundational tech to make it a reality is still being developed. Both games do not have set release dates yet but you can play the alpha build for the PU MMO which makes consistent progress
    with quarterly patch releases throughout the year.
    I am an independent content creator and a fan of the game, I am not paid by Cloud Imperium however I do accept ships from them to giveaway to my community but this will by no means influence my opinion or what I say and believe about the project.

    Them canceling free flight was a good idea, and I give them respect where it's due. I didn't think they would do it. I hope there are more choices like this to come along the way. The community needs to be heard on a lot of these legitimate problems.

    In my personal opinion, there's an issue at CIG with whoever is pushing deadlines (4.0 before Christmas) instead of waiting until things are collectively ready. I sighed when they said they were removing the much needed transport update. It was already clunky and unreliable at times, so the idea it would work still in it's current state, when the rest of the server tech is moving on, using the new messaging system etc, seems a bit crazy. I was under the impression everything needs to use the new messaging service to properly handle all the requests, and to prioritise those requests. Leaving systems out of that when it's part of the plan can't be helpful!

    • @rixxy9204
      @rixxy9204 6 дней назад

      They had to release it for sales purposes. I was OK with them releasing it because it was "preview" so I expected a horrible buggy mess. Besides, they routinely make buggy releases so it's no surprise anyways.

      I think its all about investors. Like ubisoft and etc. They are always about deadline. So maybe investors ? It's bot bad tho. They will perhaps finally put the product out in a good state because the investors want the game to be playable by the end of the year...
      Personal opinion, i'm not sure about that.

    I joined my friends in a good mood to play, was looking forward to being able to do some bunker stuff (I just recovered from the painful contracts bug in 4.0 where you lose them after a prison sentence).
    I did my introductory Merc thing, shit was going well. My friends mission bugs out, he couldn't complete it and out of frustration he kills one of the NPC's landing him a crime stat. Ok fine, I can do stuff with the other party member while we wait out his sentence... Nope, I take off and explode. My friend thinks it was the medivac in my hold, it could've been but it's not the first time I've had collision alert while taking off in an empty space and exploding. Okay, that felt bad but I can recover my stuff since I respawned in the medivac... Nope, my corpse fell through the planet with all my stuff on it. Awesome, I exit to menu to quick travel to a station where I claim my ship and buy armor. During this process I crash 3 times in a row, 30K error and one desktop crash. Then the elevators were all empty. Needless to say I'm taking a break, that was too much for me.
    It is shameful that they promote their game during such a tumultuous patch, even now after they cancelled the free fly event they market their fucking merchandise to us as if we're going to shell out our money when they can't even fix the game. They removed the one team play mechanic that motivated teamplay, mission sharing rewards. Then the Xenothreat salvage itself created a gameplay loop but no, they want us to play their game their way despite it being a sandbox. I'm worried about where the game is going, especially with their recent decisions. Are they insane to release a new ship in the current state of the game?

    • @rixxy9204
      @rixxy9204 6 дней назад +2

      "During this process I crash 3 times in a row, 30K error and one desktop crash"
      This is the key issue. All the issues are lower priority because I can't even get another player to *_consider_* SC these days. The worst part is that there's been so many years of glitches (and no progress) that SC is a big joke with every gamer that's heard about it.

    • @FlamingoTable
      @FlamingoTable 6 дней назад +1

      @rixxy9204 It's diabolical tbh. Ten years of development... You'd think something would be functioning by now but they're clearly only driven through monitary motivations. They're only now fixing the game because they can't ignore the problems, that's how bad it has gotten. New players won't come in when the game is like this. I guarantee they'll stop "fixing" the game once their new cash flow comes in (new players)
      "We'll only start fixing the game because our cashflow is in trouble, but hey enjoy this new salvaging ship with half the capacity than our current roster!"
      EDIT: I may be wrong with their motivations and they are actively fixing the game but it's so frustrating that they've so consistently released hot garbage. 4.0 should've been delayed.

My friend had to hop because the hangar door opened but there was another solid door past that one he couldnt get thru. I've been playing long enough to know that the game has MASSIVELY improved over the last few years. More progress in the last 3 years than the previous 9. Always a day late and a dollar short, but still got tons of things we've been waiting a long time for. And not just content related - server FPS and overall performance is drastically improved. Crashes and server errors reduced, and crash protection is 100% reliable now. Missions work better, refueling works better, ship loadout works better, inventory works better, enemy AI is better, shooting feels better... everything is better.
    Still plenty of issues, but it's finally starting to get somewhere. If you don't think so, you haven't been paying very close attention.

    It's come to a point where players cannot and should not wait another 5-10 years to get a playable game.
    Is it not safe to say that we waited enough and funded the game enough?
    At this point they should stop trying to release a game with everything and focus more on releasing a playable game first.
    Then implement new things.

    Personally, I think too many people have forgotten or just never knew all the stuff in game for us to play with currently is specifically designed for testing purposes, fun is secondary. Star citizen has always been on the back burner getting minimal resources vs SQ42, and everyone of us waiting since 2012 is obviously extremely fatigued. SQ42 being feature complete is the only reason we have any iteration of 4.0 right now. Those employee resources were never available to SC until recently, and in less than 2 years we have seen more progress than ever before in the PU even if it is currently broken. Everyone is freaking out because there is so many things that need fixing, and I wish it was in a better place too, but it's cooking, and the cooks have only recently arrived in the kitchen so to speak. This is the year where I would expect to see all these bugs become more of priority regardless how much squawking we do as a community because the core systems are mostly in place now, we just need that dynamic server meshing. After we get the dsm, literally the only thing left for them to work on is bugs, and mission/game content ect. Basically all the "fun" stuff.
    So people need to relax a bit imo, so much unnecessary drama from basement game developers, last thing this community needs is an echo chamber fueling the frustrations. I highly doubt given the milestones reached that they intend to leave the game in it's current state, and the player experience is only going to be getting better from here.
    Been waiting since 2012, and just comparing the amounts of annual progress in SC year to year it's clear the game is on the right track even if we are in the midst of a rough patch.
    Waiting sucks, but yall acting like spoiled toddlers on xmas eve. Which is def going to trigger some of you, so let it out knowing sometime after your tantrum is over the game will be in a better place, and it has nothing to do with the demands any of you are making lol.

    I'm certainly not holding my breath, The game's been in a bloody terrible state for a very long time now, since 3.18 and I for one am refusing to give them any more money, I've already got my monocle and top hat, and a few other bits and pieces, they've had more than enough money from me. It's about time they got the bloody game working instead of releasing missions which you can't complete because the game is so goddamn buggy. Star Citizen right now is the biggest pile of s*** I have ever played... Yes, I know it's in alpha, And they're still adding features but come on..., the bloody inventory system only works when it feels like it, the hanger doors won't open., lifts (elevator), terrible desync, unable to load weapons, freight elevators, party member icons not showing, mission icons not showing, unable to select quantum locations........ The list goes on and on and on. I'm just sick of it now.

    No Man’s Sky has a much smaller budget and yet they manage to make Beautiful Worlds in the Millions with Amazing Contents and Graphics, while Star Citizen has a larger budget and decade of production and they only Managed to make less than a Dozen Worlds to explore which has no Life Forms to interact with and the Players are virtually on their own. No Man’s Sky is Vastly Superior and more importantly Better than what Star Citizen is currently offering at the Moment.

    I do wonder why there are such disparate experiences when playing Star Citizen. I have relatively few bugs and they are rarely game breaking. Others can't even log into the game. Why the difference. Is it hardware or software related? Internet connection? User error and if so what am I doing right and they are doing wrong?

    • @warren3174
      @warren3174 6 дней назад

      Tell us your playstyle and what you do when playing and for how long? It's certainly not user side issues with hardware or internet connections. HAHAHA It's insane and insulting to even suggest that when it comes to SC. SC can fk up the best setups in the world and idiots waste tons of money on their side setups only to discover what I'm saying. You obviously aren't playing much or doing much in game to achieve the impossible.

      @ Nice assumptions about me there. In 3.19.x I was playing on a FX-6300, a R9 290 4GB, 32GB of DDR3-1600 CL9 with a SATA SSD and wired ethernet. I played for 12 hours straight on that setup one night. Very few bugs, but I think that computer may have been too slow for some of the bugs to show up. I decided I was really starting to need to upgrade because when traveling back from ILW show to Orison in the shuttle the spaceport wasn't loading in. This wasn't a bug though, my CPU was just too slow to load in all of the assets for the Orison space port. That PC was perfectly fine in 3.15 and 3.16, performance got a little weird in 3.17 with improvements in some places but loss of performance in others.
      In November of 2022 I upgraded to a R9 7900x installed in a ASUS TUF Gaming X670E Plus Wifi and a Sapphire Pulse RX6800, 32GB of DDR5-6000 CL36 and a gen4 NVME and I'm still on a wired ethernet connection. Our internet provider recently upgraded us from 100Mb per second to Gigabit for free. I still don't have most or any of the bugs that I hear most commenters whining about. I've played on a Potato and I've played on a decent rig. I play at least 2 hours every Sunday night (8pm-10pm) with a buddy of mine from grade school. Most weeks I fit in additional time to play, usually for several hours each time. I generally have such a good experience that I chalk most of bug complaints up as haters stirring the pot while never playing. I'm not saying the bugs don't exist. I'm saying that people that don't play see people complaining about a bug and then make it their life goal to amplify the complaints about every bug they see anyone complain about. But, I know you will just call me a white knight and try to gaslight me about my own experiences because judging from your comment that is the type of person you are.
