- Queen Camilla arrives at Worcester Cathedral for the annual Royal Maundy Service where she is deputising for the King. A large and noisy protest by members of the anti-monarchy group Republic can be heard, who shout "down with the crown" as the Bishop of Worcester, John Inge, greets her. Report by Matt Blair.

I think you might be beginning to realize why the late Queen said that Camilla would be a full queen consort and hold the title of queen.
It really saddens me that on Maundy Thursday we can hear in the background a crowd of agitators demonstrating their disdain for the Monarchy. They are of course in our tolerant country able to do this, but I can’t help but think how incredibly inappropriate this is at such a time. Not only is it a Holy day for Christians, but in the light of the King’s I’ll health I feel these people have no sense of decency.
They could do with listening to the Easter Maundy lesson as read by the King and learn some humility.
I agree. Those people truly abuse the privilege afforded by a free society and do their best to antagonize and obstruct at every turn.
Fortunately they are in the minority..and aren’t they lucky that they don’t have to work!!

I love how Her Majesty and the Archbishop are aware of the disturbance, but are focused on the Maundy Thursday Service.
It is more important to focus on God's gifts received, and sharing those gifts, than to be distracted by a few dissenters. Guaranteed those protesters have no idea of the significance of Maundy Thursday, and how they could incorporate it's sentiment into their lives.
The one good thin g about this demonstration is that these dreary obsessives are making themselves less relevant than before. What began as as a minority political view now just looks like spite.

I was there this morning and it was lovely to see the Queen. The republic group was very small only about 20 but had loud speakers. The other 1000 people who were there were very respectful and wanted to support the Queen.
Really don't think they should be allowed so near certainly not with loud speakers.

You're exercising your free speech while calling it "over generous". Clearly you don't understand what "Free" actually means. IT means that some people will not exercise good judgement unfortunately. It's either free or it isn't. Once controlled, it's no longer free. Seems that because we are used to having this right, many people don't understand why truly free speech is so imperative that they can imply that it's "over generous" perhaps because they don't realise what not having that "over generous" freedom would mean when they want to be heard and have concerns but rules prohibit them from speaking about something. It's fine when it's something that we find silly or we disagree with until it's something which you want to say and have concerns about but cannot because of restrictive rules and laws.
