SUPER FREDDY did not disappoint! This was a weird ass movie but I still enjoyed it 😂 looking forward to the next one real soon! Thanks for watching gang and much love- Cole
Underrated if you ask me. I love the concept of Freddy using the dreams of Alice’s baby to go after people, more Amanda lore, great dream sequence/set pieces, Freddy is entertaining, the kills were great, Alice is still awesome. Just a fun time that I like to watch on occasion. The next one tho can’t defend it lmao. Even the message and themes of motherhood of Alice wanting to keep the baby while Dan’s parents want to take him away from her. I also love that Alice’s father actually developed into a good dad.
"It's a boy!" Fun Fact: Theatrical movie debut of Jill Adler and Marnette Patterson. Comic Book Fan Fact: In the documentary Never Sleep Again: The Elm Street Legacy (2010), director Stephen Hopkins admitted he thought Mark's (Joe Seely) death scene was silly, but being a comic book nerd, he just had to put it in there. Cart Before The Horse Fact: If you were a fan looking at that poster in 1988 and 1989 you were probably curious what the heck "Dream Child" meant, and what was going on with the fetus in the crystal ball in Freddy's (Robert Englund) glove. Well, the people making the film thought the same thing, too. That poster came out before they actually had a clear idea what the movie was going to be about beyond its premise and title. Short Production Schedule Fact: New Line Cinema gave Stephen Hopkins just four weeks to shoot this film and a further four weeks for editing. This meant that he had to shoot on one stage while the crew dressed the other, so they could shoot almost continually; in the meanwhile, he also had to oversee special effects work. He said that he managed because he was 28 at the time and required little sleep. His efforts payed off, because when 20th Century Fox heard of this, they were so impressed that he was given the task of directing Predator 2 (1990). Spider Wangler Fact: According to director Stephen Hopkins, they "got lots of tarantulas" to hand-paint them green and red, and on the floor of the stage, placed a little wall up in the shape of an arm and had trainers come in and around the tarantulas. The plan was to simply drop the wall and film the resulting scattering of the spiders. However, after they got the shot they were left with a studio full of around 200 angry tarantulas. As far as the director knows, those spiders roamed freely through the studio and escaped into the free world, or maybe it was just somebody else's job to ensure the tarantulas were all accounted for.
So a fun tie-in with Mark's comic collection; while Robert Englund still did the voice, the guy physically playing "Super Freddy" was Michael Bailey Smith, who also played Ben Grimm in the 1994 "Fantastic Four" movie.
One of my favorites! The themes and visuals in this one are so unique, it's weird and feels like an art house movie or something. The direction is also tight.
I told you. Super Freddy! 😂 “Faster than a bastard maniac! More powerful than a loco-madman! It’s… Super Freddy!” Btw thanks for the mention.❤ Btw the next one has a certain cameo, well two, you might recognize. The clue is in the soundtrack.
Glad you reacted to this one! For my age group, this one hit hard, especially in the late 80s. The threat of teen pregnancy and how your life would be over if it happened to you was everywhere, and this played right into that fear. I like the religious undertones in this because they're not preachy and deal more with mythology than doctrine. And, yes, poor Amanda. Let that woman rest in peace! I love Alice; she gives Sidney vibes and is far more Nancy's legacy than Kristen was.
If we do get a legacy sequel to A Nightmare on Elm Street it should take place right after The Dream Child, I`ll be called A Nightmare on Elm Street: The Dream Demon. Lisa Wilcox should come back Alice Johnson, Ashley Zukerman from the Fear Street Trilogy should play adult Jacob, Michael Bishop from Superman & Lois should play Jacob`s teenage son Dan named after his late father, Oliver Jackson-Cohen from The Invisible Man remake should play Freddy Krueger and Robert Englund can have a voice cameo as the principle of the high school.
Can’t wait for Freddy’s Dead and the Remake. I’m a defender of both. Mostly the remake. It gets hate but I think it’s the first attempt to bring out the Elevated horror style
Even though the first, 3rd, and New Nightmare are the only quality ones, I have always loved all of them. They're just fun for me. They used to all scare me as a kid, and now they're just nostalgic. Also, the practical effects are always a treat.
This one is a good one. i enjoyed it. Part six, is a hit or miss. I actually liked it for how campy and stupid it is. as long as freddy comes out. I dont care. he can be doing a christmas special and i would Still watch it! let's go to the next one! love to watch your reactions.
As a few others have mentioned, Greta’s death scene was heavily edited. Freddy was feeding Greta her own innards. You can find the cut scenes on RUclips. Dan’s death scene on the motorcycle was also trimmed down. Those scenes can also be found on RUclips.
All of them were asleep when they were killed by Freddy, with the exception of Alice of course. But Dan fell asleep while driving, Greta fell asleep at the dinner party and Mark fell asleep at the werehouse.
In the original script, Greta’s death was worse. He was force feeding her her own stomach. Which you can kinda see briefly later when she falls and breaks like a porcelain doll.
This one was such a disappointment to me when I first saw it because I was so hyped from Part 4, but I’ve come to appreciate it more with repeat viewings. The idea of Freddy being able to come back by using Alice’s unborn child was pretty clever. I think the biggest issue for me is some of the dreams (and effects) were too ambitious for the time. Oh well…don’t get your expectations too high for Freddy’s Dead, but Wes Craven will be back for the one after that with New Nightmare and I know you will love it!
I still have a VHS copy of the uncensored version. Dan and Greta's deaths were FAR more graphic in that. Do you have the copy of FREDDY'S DEAD that came with the 3-D glasses?
Even tho this is one of my top two least favorite freddy films it's really not a terrible movie. I love the overall visual aesthetics and gothic vibes in this one. One cool thing about this series is that each film is distinctive and brings a whole new angle to Freddy's methods etc, unlike a lot of franchises that feel kind of samey.
Yes, I love that aspect of the franchise. Each movie, even as sequels, stand on their own because they're so unique and different from each other. When you watch all of them, it doesn't feel tired, it's just fun!
This one, they tried to add more of a serious tone with teen pregnancy abortion eating disorder, and it just didn't work, and this is when Freddy is a comedian, but Lisa Wilcox was great as Alice and some scary moments so 6/10
This one was REALLY bland overall, though I dont blame director Stephen Hopkins (Predator 2, The Ghost & The Darkness) as New Line RUSHED the hell out of this film. Hopkins was stretched RIDICULOUSLY thin having barely any time to get this film made and out in theaters. He was hired on Valentines Day 89 and it had to be out in August that same year. That's INSANE, especially when you take into account he had to deal with a writer's strike AND had to work on Predator 2 at the same time as Dream Child for a certain amount of time.
It was good, too bad Dan is dead i really liked him in previous movie and in here, but yeah they do that, make us love characters and then kill them one by one,Rod,Grady,The Warriors,Nancy etc.
@@abrimfulofasha I’ve seen all the Friday the 13th movies except for 5 😎 Jason is one of my favorite pop culture characters ever! Freddy vs Jason is my most anticipated movie cause it’s the only official Jason movie I haven’t seen (other the Never Hike Alone).
That is the thing with movie franchise that go on an on. With different writers and directors they can have no real lets just directions as far as they are going. So things can be in one movie but never brought up again. Like how in the previous movie she got dream powers an used them. But thats never brought up or shown again. Because the new writers an directors wanted to do something different with their movie completely. Don't get me wrong I like this movie franchise but come on. How hard would it have been to have her still have dream powers. The answer is not hard at all thats just lazy writing. I mean say what you will about the Saw movie franchise. But at least they carried over the things from the other movies. Even though they had different writers and directors. That's why I personally tend to like an love movie franchises. That have the same exact writers an directors or writers/directors if they did both. Because they know what they did in the previous movie an work from that an add to it. Like for example the Phantasm movies the same writer Don Coscarelli an sometimes director of the Phantasm movies. Along with the Its Alive movies wich I recently watched the same writer /director for all of the movies. Along with the Terrifier movies with Damien Leone the same writer /director. SUPER FREDDY did not disappoint! This was a weird ass movie but I still enjoyed it 😂 looking forward to the next one real soon! Thanks for watching gang and much love- Cole
I LOVE the Elm Street series….but I’m not gonna lie….Freddy’s Dead is reeeeeeeeeaaally weak 😂
Prepare yourself.

“ITTSSSSS A BOYYYYY” is my favorite Freddy quote, I use this one all the time
Great reaction Cole! This movie is kind of a rough watch but the crazy ass kills make it worth it😂 Freddys dead is going to have you rolling!😅
this was the first nightmare I ever saw as a kid. Has a special place in my heart. Wes Cravens New Nightmare is Superb
I love that Mark is the only one to figure out how use a dream power in this!
It IS the kid from the beginning of Jurassic Park! 😊

I’ve seen all the NOES movies in the cinema as they came out and although some are better than others I’ve enjoyed them all.
I've honestly come to appreciate this one more for what it is, I know it isnt everyone's favorite but I think it is very appreciated
Cant help but feel bad for Mark. Had his love interest killed and really tried to help Alice and was a good friend to her :(

Super Freddy is the best part of The Dream Child. This movie definitely gives off the fear of raising a child.
Even though the first, 3rd, and New Nightmare are the only quality ones, I have always loved all of them. They're just fun for me. They used to all scare me as a kid, and now they're just nostalgic.

0:58 👍👍👍
The unrated version which is only on VHS shows Greta is being fed her own innards.
New Nightmare (the seventh movie) is my favorite and the most unique. Sure you're gonna like it.
It was flat-out *_shown_* in the extended version of this scene in the unrated cut of the film. That's why Freddy says "You are what you eat!"
Looking forward to New Nightmare the most!

I don't know for sure, but I think Alice lost her friends' powers when the souls scaped away from Freddy's body at the end of part 4.
I still have a VHS copy of the uncensored version.
Dan and Greta's deaths were FAR more graphic in that.
