I have lived in Austria for over 20 years. My favorite benefits are the safety, public transport and the beauty in Austria. I have always felt safe walking in Vienna, no matter what neighborhood or time of day. That would be unheard of back in San Francisco. Public transport is so clean and reliable!
Unfortunately I haven't had good experience with the hospitals (my husband waited 7 hours in an ambulance after a massive stroke) and I find the school system very outdated, especially the 2-track system. All in all, I love living in Austria!

Learnt there are international schools for expat kids but you pay about 5000 euros a year on tuition. Yes free education but only for those that have Austrian passport and residence permit... must have lived and worked here for years...workers here pay more tax than most countries... the free education comes from tax payers money that is why for one to be qualified, you must have worked here for over years, paid your own share of tax and should be ready to learn German language🤣🤣, most foreigners don´t like that.
