One person that really stepped up their content is Salt Papi. He has vlogs now he has a fight week camp vlogs sometimes he does tier lists etc. I'd still want him to create a bit more content but thats all people really need to do. Make content about the fight. Simon and Ethan from the Sidemen have wanted him to make more content iirc they even wanted to manage him.
agree, salt papi always puts out vlogs and i was never into watching vlogging channels, but i watch salt papi. his content allows people to relate to him, we see him having fun with his brothers, chilling with his gf, and his dad, he talks about boxing a lot too.

I see where you guys are coming from when talking about incentivizing the influencers, however, I think that’s the reason they’re getting paid to box anyway. The fan base that they bring with them is why they’re getting paid the big bucks. Mams penalizing influencers in their contracts for not promoting is a great way to go about it imo
However there is no entertainment to keep these fans entertained making influencer boxing boring
I hate that Mams has to put a penalty for fighters not promoting, but I agree that it has to be enforced because these influencers just don't want to promote anymore. They think that just cuz they have 100k followers that they can make 0 content and still get millions of dollars to fight.

Other people with only like 100k followers won't be able to attract an audience like that, they need to take advantage of a moment in boxing to create Content, promote their channels, and get them to bigger and better things

each fighter could have an individual pay-per-view link, and they could get a percentage of each buy that is bought using their link, it would give incentive to fighters to keep/build their audience and sell the fight. they could also just have in their contracts a minimum required amount of promotion on social media, etc. the reason that influencer/crossover boxing works is because we are fans of the people already, when they just stop doing what we were fans of, then they just become a below average amateur boxer that we know of.
Honestly, I'm surprised they haven't done something like this already. That's what other sponsorship advertising works with influencers

Swarmz is the perfect example of ksis point. And is probably one of the main reasons why ksi is coming out with this point. Swarmz has revitalised his whole career and is now a RUclips boxing hero all because he continued to do what he's good at, music. Either be a character on a fight week (pineda, tom Zanetti, salt papi) or be someone that does promote on their own channels (ksi, Kenny on beta squad etc)

These influencers need to realize that it's easy to monitor their numbers in terms of draw as well, like the views on YT or interactions on tweets now. People will naturally click on videos/tweets about people they're interested in and then the one's who get less views think they deserve more.
Like it was wild that Gib fought in London and people left the stadium before his fight despite it being in his home, just shows people didn't have any interest.

Jj is right, people HAVE to market themselves, build your platform your persona, etc. This applies to EVERYONE in this scene including Jj himself. I also think traditional boxing should do the same, some do it but majority really don't do enough to get there name in someway out there.

They’re influencers first. I agree with what you guys were saying fully; I do understand that training is no joke but if you want to survive long term outside of just crossover boxing you need to build a brand.

I agree with sensei here . The only reason I started watching salt papi box initially , before all the hype was because of his cringy running tiktoks . Made me wonder how a goofball like that would be in a boxing scenario , and then I was pleasantly surprised. Been keeping up ever since. Just a small bit of content , can create a chain reaction and its the LEAST influencer boxers can do since theyre mostly amateurs who expect audiences to pay to watch them.

It used to be content first boxing second but for a lot boxing has become everything.
I mean if these “influencer boxers” stop ‘influencing,’ they just become an amateur boxer. They have to remember that they’re not professionals, people watch them for who they are to their fan base not on their skills.

All influencers should be active outside of boxing. Boxing isn’t their lives and even if it is real boxers also have to stay active on social media, if you don’t want to get paid 5k for a fight start doing interviews, uploading videos etc

I think KSI was right here. Wade, your channel basically blew up because you were quite literally promoting peoples fights for them, as most crossover boxers didn’t want to promote.
Kenny hasn’t dropped a non-boxing piece of content on HIS channel in a year. Gib hasn’t done that in years. Jake didn’t post for a while, but he promoted the heck out of his fight so that’s fair.
This scene isn’t meant to appeal to traditionalists like myself who grew up on James Toney, Eubank SR, SRR, SRL, RJJ, Bowe, Tyson and so on… however with me being in my early 20’s, I strictly come here for the entertainment and then get surprised by the levels of improvement in the ring… however NOW, I’m not getting the entertainment, so what’s the appeal when I can just pay to watch Haney vs Loma in a few weeks. Nowadays I find myself only tuning into KSI and Jake fights. KingPyn tried to promote, but none of the fighters promoted and that cost the crowd.
ksi is right but promotions only make a fraction from ticket sales. ppv is what brings in the money. uk and usa is where the ppv is. and brazil is known as the number 1 country to stream sports illegally so they aren't doing anything for ppv there.
misfits ppv are low, even with ksi on the card bcoz his fans r kids who stream it. ksi ticket sales are great tho.
i do agree with ksi that influencers need to promote, i said this for a while....but ksi has not complained about any of this until the kingpyn tournament started, i just think hes looking to complain about anything to do with kingpyn and the fighters.

People have this misconception that this scene should only focus on appealing to non-boxing purists. If this was the case, this scene would die just like regular boxing has over the years. It's important to branch out to new audiences, which is painfully obvious when you look at the top marketers in the game today. Promoting a fight is just as important in this scene as it is in boxing and the UFC, it's just that very few people realize it.

As for KingPyn? They’re his rival promotion, who has taken a couple of his fighters and they constantly throw shade. They couldn’t sell out and they’re paying Gib more than he’s worth, just so he doesn’t go to misfits.
I like the idea of KingPyn, but if they’re your rivals? I can see why you’ll state that they’re unsustainable. I hope Wade and Sensei find their way to Misfits and I’m saying that with no bias.

i get the fact they're getting paid so why promote, but if they start to promote bring in more of an audience that will be noticed and im sure they will get paid even more then they do now
Misfits needs to up their production. Need to do a fight launch press conference with all the fighters. And stream public workouts and drop epilogues. Also get rid off failed boxers and mma guys like Chris Avila and Paul bamba. That’s literally journeyman boxing being sold to us as a “co-main event” when in reality these guys would be fighting on the undercard of a small hall show.
This is especially for Gib and Jarvis but at least Gib listened to KSI and has posted videos for ones.

some of these influencer don't even do any promotion during fight week. Walid doesn't do much content but he's always entertaining in the buildup which is why i look forward to his fights. JMX did nothing during fight week and hasn't made content in months.

JJ doing the sidemen can not be compared to other people making content. There are so many other people involved in the sidemen content creation aside from the other 6 guys who hold him accountable they have their manager, camera / production team, editors. Its a well oiled machine. Not everybody has that luxury. When you look at his own actual content its just reddit reaction videos, the majority of people can't just do those either. Its only because he is a big established name already that he can get away with just looking at his reddit.

These influencers are ruining what made influencer boxing special.
Give the boxers all a unique PPV link and they get a cut of everyone who buys through their link. Instant incentive to create content to sell the fight.
My simple take : If Social media is helping people unknown and non-existence to exist and thrive and build and expand his/her ideas. Why don't newer influencers who are interested in combat sports do the same. Sensei mentioned , Jake has attention be it -ve or +ve . Jake realised just like JJ & logan that in todays world Attention is the gold. Because scientifically proved that we are less interested to read the story below the headlines. So what JJ points out is a valid and useful opinion.

I think it's weird when some of the youtubers stop doing their regular content and do nothing but youtuber boxing videos.
In many ways I think this is why Creator Clash is the ultimate youtuber boxing event
The huge difference between KSI and all the other influencers is that he's got the Sidemen, which is a huge support system for content. Technically he can just "show up" for some of these videos, the reddit videos don't require creativity at all.

On KSI recent video, he mention that he needs help in promoting the fights, and the influencers must not rely on KSI to promote everything, same goes with other promotion, they need help as well with promoting the fight, they can only do so much.. with Kingpyn, since its a tournament style and paycheck is big and most likely a yearly event, so most likely no need to promote, but other promotion that gets 4-5 fights a year needs the promotion as well.

imagine the influencers start requesting for an editor for a contracted amount of time, that could happen loool if ksi is gonna ask them to spend less time in the gym so they can make content,

These influencers need to realise that they were born to make content so it should be light work for them even a 5min video is alright, but focusing on boxing purely and losing your OG fans due to inactivity of uploading will lead to fans forgetting abt you therefore you wont even become a draw in the scene which then will make influencer boxing die out.
I love that these influencers are getting better, but they will never be on the level of a legit pro boxer. If you want to sell, you need to entertain, because the quality of fights will never be as good as legit pro boxing events
Salt Papi uploads once every two days on RUclips most of the time, uploads TikTok videos, uploads RUclips shorts, comes on Twitter to say a few things, goes to see his family, he’s works out twice a day, spends time with his girlfriend etc
Each and every day on repeat, there’s no excuse being an influencer is their lifestyle.

Shouldn't misfits also have a marketing/content team? They can be the one in charge of interviews/day in the life/behind the scenes and the press conferences also count as marketing. I can see that influencers should market their own brand, but what if they just want to focus on the fighting, and they want their content to be pure like that?
Its not actually the point 🤦🏻♂️ misfits have a marketing and been doing it but it can only do much since this is influencer boxing, this is not pure boxing where the promotor can make couple promotion and get ppl intrested cause ppl actually hype for the fights itself, now lets be real who tf watch influencer boxing for the boxing itself like its just dumb they’re not a “real boxer” their skill are way below amateur boxer so we as a community also watched influencer boxing for the entertainment side of it but we didnt get that cause these influencer are tryna be tough boxer and didnt make the entertaintment
If you wanna make your content pure dont do influencer boxing, cause in influencer boxing your star power and your draws are also count to how valuable you are but if you really wanna do boxing just go profesional route so you dont have to deal with making content but dont come crawling back cause you dont make as much money as in influencer boxing
@@daqiiil well I disagree with you. I'm invested in fighters like KSI, salt papi, jake, gib because of their skill/improvements despite paling in comparison to actual pro fighters. I couldn't care less about how big the drama was or the build up was.
@@bloodtalon27 they just rely on fred talks fighting, they wont employ him, they dont pay for his flights, hotels or anything, they expect fred to do everything for free. he does it bcoz he wants to grow his channel but they have an official misfits channel that does face2face with bad internet and sound few days before the fight.

Besides even if we follow certain boxers cause we wanna see their journey. When they go out of their way to create content around the fight you can't deny it creates more hype. I like Gib's fight videos, but he doesn't do them often enough in my opinion.
As someone that LOVES boxing and combat sport and I also love RUclips and I have to say if JJ wouldn't be JJ and stopped uploading I wouldn't care about his fights. That's why i didn't watch the kingpyn tournament than highlights.

Tbh this is an issue with modern boxing in general. You have every tool at your disposal for free. MMA Fighters like Israel Adesanya have channels that million plus subscribers. There has never been an easier time to build your own brand.

And take a look at people in the UFC and such. Chael, Mcgregor, Covington, Adesanya, Paddy, Sugar Sean, Jake Paul. Embody a character whether it's a heel or the good guy.
I was one of the first to say this in the comment section months ago to NichLmao, on his interview video i replied to his comment about this very topic and a few people started arguing with me lol
giving an incentive and just asking will not work, this must be added to the fight contract on a subjection where the influencer agrees to make lets say 10 yt videos(not shorts), 40 tweets, 20 insta posts, leading up to fight night....all by contract.
U can make them do it by offering 2 payments, X amount for a fight with no content, and X more amount for a fight while u put out content.
This should apply to influencers who don't hold much stock in the boxing scene, yt boxers who hold stock just by name do have the right to say i don't need to put out much bcoz people just wanna see (pay to see) me fight. Example, Jake Paul, Gib & Slim are guys who hold stock without putting out yt content, Walid Sharks doesn't even have a yt channel but people love to see him fight. Few more hold stock in the scene without content....but there aren't many of these types of people, so i do agree with ksi for the most part.
ksi has an editor so its easy for him to say.
btw a lot of this has to do with fear, the fear of losing and wanting to be the best fighter has made some people have tunnel vision, dropping everything and just doing boxing.
RUclipsrs who don't find validation from an old audience will search for it elsewhere, and once u get that feeling in the ring, its hard to go back to anything else.
Then we have super experienced boxers like uncle Pizza guy who is pretending to be an influencer doing using gimmick everyone can see through.

I concur with everything you've said apart from Uncle Pizza having crazy experience. Most amateurs would have looked 5x better that night and not had a close fight. Aside from that, promotion from fighters is necessary so the scene doesn't stagnate and the contractual incentives you've proposed look really good.
Edit: How would KSI, or anyone else for that matter, have judged the desperate need for promotion without seeing the Kingpyn audience? If we saw the venue packed all night nobody would be having this conversation rn, evidenced by not many ppl speaking about it in the months leading to the tournament All respect tho.

Lets put it this way, we watch profesionnal boxing cause the level of competition that they have, the more competent you are the better boxer you are the more us will be intrested to watch
But this is influencer boxing we watched it also for how entertaining they are cause almost no one come into the scene expecting to watch some high level boxing, not even jake who was the top guy on influencer boxing could perform well against a novice amateur boxer
So the point is entertaint us if you want us to watch cause if you tryna act tough and become like boxer wanna be we wouldnt watch you, i rather watch some amateur boxer fight if i wanna see some low level competititve boxing

Personally, I love that the influencers are taking it seriously. I'm not five years old. I don't need the influencers to behave like children's party entertainers to be able to enjoy the events/ build up to fights.
KSI is right, these creators need to create to push their fights. This mentality of "the fans will come regardless" is silly thinking, look at any misfit event that doesnt have KSI on the card, the audience looks 3/4 empty, also Kingpyn when that one Brazilian fella left the place looked dead and empty, because Gib and Austin just dont put out content to hype the fight and just dont get the IRL support that they would if they was on the hype grind too. A couple of 20 second shorts of "I'm gonna smash him" etc just doesnt cut it. These people aren't LEGIT fighters so it's not the same for them, with UFC and regular boxers people are coming to see the fighters because of the image and brand they made for themselves over the years, influencer boxer people come for the influencers and entertainers and if they ain't entertaining people on the build up then less people will unfortunately give a shit about their fight. Even sit down reddit videos etc work. They dont have to make big budget videos or brand deal vids, make content based around what they're doing and not have them expect the company to do everything for them or that "the fans will come reganrdless" because as it's been made clear now, the fans wont come regardless of who it is
