That is 100 percent Ren on the piano. If you want to see more videos of him playing piano, check out For Joe or MacKay (both written for close friends who died)
YES!!! "For Joe" is an essential component of Ren's body of art for fans to experience. It's a very personal piece of his, and though different compared to some of his other pieces, you will most definitely not be disappointed. I look forward eagerly to it!

@daviebabe123 - Yep but it took a few takes to get it. Just like Hi Ren took 4 goes, to get a one take that Ren was reasonably happy with. :) MG1 took so many attempts because it was the first time they'd tried a proper one take video and it threw up a lot more challenges than they were expecting. Plus Ren's an obsessive perfectionist, lol. :) With Hi Ren, they had VERY limited time, so they only got 4 attempts. Ren chose the 3rd one, though he wasn't entirely happy with it. The huge success made Ren a "little" bit more relaxed about these things. Just a little, lol. :) In this instance (MG3) there was actually a single cut. They were going for a one take but ended up having a single cut, during the wheelchair sequence, as the homemade 'rain machine' kept malfunctioning. :)
He didn't sing Rain Rain Rain. He just let it RAIN literally in that barn, on top of him. Totally amazing. Definitely deserved the award he and Samuel got for this part of Money Game
Rens lyrics in MG2 are the basic story of the beginning of the Shell oil company, where the father of the two brothers who worked with the Rothschilds to corner the oil industry where their. Father sold trinkets such as shells formed into jewely boxes, the man literally sold sea shells turned into trinket boxes as souvenirs, then the sons started the Shell brand which grew and came to dominate the oil industry where they overtook Standard oil, taking over the top sales and marketing of the petroleum industry.
It's most defiantly Ren on the piano, you guys haven't seen his piano tribute to his friend, Mackey {spelled wrong maybe} its beautiful, Ren in the canyon with a keyboard. The chorography that everyone had to be perfect on is an amazing visual, the way that Ren uses space is unmatched. # 3 is one of the most moving uncomfortable beautiful tracks I have ever heard and seen as far as the video goes. Ren said in HI REN that he was a musical genius. He cemented that in MONEY GAME 3.
It's the little throwbacks to the earlier songs that I like. Looking in the mirror (point the mirror at ourselves), rain rain rain a storm it comes our way.. he's literally being rained on etc. Just little things that make them all cohesive. Also, Ren doesn't exempt himself while preaching to others, he's very aware of the fact he's playing too.
Yeah it’s him singing the melody from parts 1 & 2 at the beginning,as he’s looking in the mirror, then the orchestra playing it later. Goosebumps every time - makes it feel so nostalgic in a way. Then I think my favourite bit is when the camera pans around him and he sings “Jimmy followed the code inside the land of the free put your hand inside the cookie jar take more than you need” - that with those strings playing it gives me absolute chills every time.
@@Steve_W27 The funny thing is my favourite part isn't even auditory. It's when they first swing the camera around and you see him sitting in front of the strings. It's the anticipation because you know, you just know, whatever is coming is going to be epic.
Part 3 was crazy. From the mirror at the start (‘point the mirror at ourselves’) and removing the money bag from his head so he can see now that he was in the money game (like he drew on the eyes in part 1 to open peoples eyes). To the melody he was singing while looking in the mirror which was part of the chorus of the other 2. That really set up that it was a continuation. Then when the string quartet came in, one of them was playing that melody from the chorus of parts 1 & 2. Then during the last verse when Jimmy was 45, the rain started to fall (oh rain, rain, rain, rain… a storm it comes our way). Then of course the last line “then he presses on the trigger of a money game” to tie it all together. Amazing. That was him on the piano at the beginning and he also composed all the music for this. The guy is a genius.
It DID have the chorus from the first two parts! That's part of it's genius! Jimmy's entire life is basically an expansion of that chorus. The last minute is a summation of Jimmy's life. It's also the chorus from parts one and 2 but without it being said or sung! It starts with the "Rain rain rain rain rain" being represented by... rain, lol. The rest follows and the very last line of MG3 is actually the line that immediately precedes the chorus in the first two parts! "With his finger on the trigger of a money game". Genius! :) Btw, it was Ren playing the piano at the beginning. He also composed the music for piano and strings, co-directed the video, set up the audio and recording setup, did the audio production, as well as writing those incredible lyrics and giving that electrifying live performance! :) Unsurprisingly MG3 has won several prestigious international awards! Ren actually plays about a dozen instruments well. Half of them RIDICULOUSLY well! All self-taught, of course! He was able to compose the music for strings, 2 cellos/2 violins, as he plays the cello! If you want to see/hear Ren on piano, apart from in MG3 (on the album version he plays the entire piano part) try the heartbreaking "For Joe" or the absolutely beautiful "Mackay". They're both in memory of departed close friends. His best friend Joe Hughes, committed suicide by jumping off a bridge, into the Sea. His close friend, Callum Mackay, drowned at sea. They're both fantastic works of art, written/composed by Ren and performed beautifully, live, on piano. Both are definitely worth a listen! :)
I have been waiting for this ! 3 is flipping crazy powerful. He is playing the piano. Hands have his rings. I would suggest uninvited next, that will really surprise you.
So 1) the money bag is meant to show that we are all sort of slaves to the money game, the lyrics are about the hypocrisy of it, but the point the mirror at ourselves lyrics are there right in Money Game pt1. He draws eyes on the money bag, which is symbolic of making the person aware of the money game. But in the end he decides to sacrifice himself, because as he has been singing after all - we're all part of this old money game - which includes himself. 2) "why just shells, why limit yourself, she sells seashells, sell oil as well" - look into the history of the Shell Oil company, it did indeed start out selling seashells and then started selling oil. 3) Yes that is Ren on the piano (For Joe, Mackay - are videos where you will definitely see Ren's piano playing. Mackay - doesn't even have lyrics, it's all piano - and yet - somehow says a hell of a lot). There is actually a chorus in this - right at the start when he is looking in the mirror, he is humming it, and at the end the violins are playing it. Additionally "point the mirror at ourselves" - there's a literal mirror there. As for Rain, rain, rain, rain a storm it comes our way - that's there too - but with literal rain, instead of being sung. The themes from the first 2 songs, are basically made physical in Song 3. Glad you enjoyed it, was so excited when I saw it pop up and really enjoyed you guys. Oh by the way - the third video has won 2 awards at this point. Oh - and it's 2 one shots, there is a cut when the camera goes around the back of the wheelchair - for logistical reasons. They had to move the mic to Ren's tie because he takes the suit jacket off, the mic had to be waterproofed because of the "rain", and because they were only going to have a single shot with the rain - only one suit, only one day - not enough time for the suit or the floor to dry if the take was messed up.
Animal Flow is a great 1 take with Ren & 80+ friends. I recommend watching the acoustic first to get the lyrics down before your eyes start pingponging during the regular video. 😂
In MG2, the shells economy lesson also takes on the meaning weapons ammo/arms dealing (bullet “shells”)when it gets up the oil dealing and no morals. They reference that in MG3
The way I see it is ; All his life, all Jimmy wants is his Daddy's approval, so he spirals out of control with his obsession to make money ( to make is father happy - he cares not about any morality in the process of expanding his wealth and power ) - a brilliant wee bit of attention to detail ( which many seem to miss ) is when the globe is spinning and he receives the phone call that his father has died, the timing of the globe stopping ( symbolising the end of Jimmy's perceived reason to live .... his world comes to a sudden and abrupt stop ) is monumental to the story, for it is the beginning of his rehabilitation in understanding the futility of his obsession ( or rather his father's obsession ) with wealth and power. The ending, in Jimmy taking his own life, is ( I believe ) his ultimate repentance for the harm he has caused via his greed .... just my take on this masterpiece. Thanks fella's - I enjoyed your reactions. 🙏
I loved the stopping of the globe at that instant. Metaphorically it's brilliant, but I can't help but think it was just a happy accident that the timing worked out so perfectly.
"For Joe" and "MacKay" are Ren on piano paying tribute to friends he's lost. "MacKay" is instrumental only, so read the video description for more info. Both are live continuous shots with his friend/collaborator Samuel Perry-Falvey who did "Money Game" 1 and 3, "The tale of Jenny & Screech" trilogy, "Hi Ren", and more.
Great reactions! This Trilogy was another masterpiece! Rain, rain, rain, rain. A storm it comes our way. You need to do MacKay where it's just Ren and the piano. He also plays the keyboard in For Joe.
Ah but he did have the chorus...it's just hidden/subtle in the literal rain that fell. ❤ Did u know he composed the whole thing, including the strings? The only part that was not his composition was the part Ren played on the piano.
Even part of Ren's piano part was his own composition! Only the first bar was directly from Grieg's piano concerto; after that he modifies the second bar of the original so that it can be spliced into the rest of his own introduction to the song.
Wrong! The opening part was composed by Ren too. Even the bar that everyone says is Grieg, is actually a play on Grieg, rather than an exact copy. Even if we concede that 1 bar to Grieg, everything else was composed by Ren!
Great reaction guys. ❤ Ren composed the string quartet and played the piano. I visited the video set which was a Secret garden party and met his team. Sam, his videographer was really nice and answered a lot of questions and more! Keep up the great reactions guys. ❤
Fantastic reaction guys!! Y’all should watch BTS video with Wolf Johnson on your own time. It’s just as interesting & epic. Also, big shout out to Samuel Perry- Falvey, Ren’s cinematography who shot the video plus the rest of the crew. Ren is planning to do a live show this Summer there at that same warehouse vicinity “Secret Garden” music festival. Again, great reaction!!
This is my favourite way to watch Ren... through reactions such as yours. That's because I could never experience that magic the same way I did the first time but through others it's close. Lads, you did a great job so thanks for experiencing it with me.
yeah that Ren on the piano. he does a beautiful piano piece dedicated to his mate. just piano. hes honestly something else. hes an artist . loved this reaction, thank you boys xx
Ren does put the chorus in there... physically. Utilizing the mirror in the beginning (point the mirror at ourselves) and the rain (oh rain, rain, rain) then the gun at the end (pulling on the trigger...). Nice reaction guys. 💛🤘🤙✌️
Great reaction as always guys! Cool that you did all 3 parts together, I think part 2 was a lyric video due to covid lockdowns and social distancing bullshit so lyric video was the way to go, and like you said rens lyric videos are a step up from most other people's to still have maximum impact!
Fellow Renegade reactor Rika Shae made some daily walkthroughs explaining the course of the MG game. If you're interested, look for the playlist on his channel.
Nice job guys, so glad you did all three together instead of separate ... I think Money Game 1 was recorded first, the guitar player in MG 1 was Romain from Ren's band The Big Push... I think they did MG2 with the lyrics during Lockdown ,,, heard they were going to do it like 1 and 3 but the lockdown had different plans for them so they decided to with the lyrics, but I think it works very well ... in MG3 Ren and Sam's video budget was better they were so proud they had people doing the lights and strings .. Ren wrote everything, even the strings Ren plays 5-8 different instruments and even beatbox along with the rap and vocals he played drums for the Big Push when the band started out before they found Glenn the drummer that was Ren on piano at first that is his hands and rings for sure ...
I loved before in part one and two point the mirror at ourselves Ren looks in the mirror, genius. Part 3 one an award at Cannes film festival and Yamaha I remember right sponsored him and lent him the piano.
yeah he's amazing on the piano watch Mackay. he also composed the strings at the end too, it''s a version of the money game music if you concentrate on the melody xxx loving your reactions just found you guys tonight x
He’s also specifically using Britain’s Shel Oil company which is the 2nd largest company on the index 100, taking 8.4% of British’s total market capital.
I just found you guys tonight, loving the reactions... You guys get Ren, you hear what he's saying... I've followed Ren's journey from early doors and i can't think of one of his offerings i don't like.... You guys should check out "What Went Wrong" pt1 & 2," and "Suicide" trust me, his animated/lyric videos are amazing. Enjoy the Ren rabbit hole, its a ride worth taking.... peace and one love from one brother of brothers to another... 👊🏽
I didn't catch the connection until you did all 3 together in this reaction, but in the beginning of part 3 he is looking in the mirror, which I think that is a throw-back to the other 2 where he sings "Point the Mirror at ourselves, cause we are all part of the Money Game". One other part I especially liked was during his monolog; he says, "If we teach our children to always be sheep, put yourself before the herd if there's more money for me"; goes to how 'Flawed' our education system is, and how some parents raise their children. "Greed' is the one thing that Ren hates the most; in "Sevin Sins" he really hits on that sin hard.
I don't think Money Game needs to be done together or even in order. But there's little touches in 3 that make sense if you've seen the other ones first. Mad respect for sitting through all three at once. Awesome breakdown. 💜
Nice one fellas. Imo, Pt 1 is outlining the problem, pt 2 describes how it works and pt 3 is, (as you mentioned), an example of the money game in play. Fun Fact: @26.07 there is a 'Sackman' toy behind the Rubik Cube on the desk. Ren used to sell the toys in his merch store!!
I think everyone (who hasn’t already) should watch the vid (it’s only maybe 4/5 mins long) A Day in the Life of Ren. (here on RUclips) Ren is not well, he has Lyme Disease, the vid shows what he has to do every day nearly to get himself well enough to do this wonderful music and these vids for us all to enjoy. Please, please everyone watch it, you’ll appreciate him so much more!
MG1, you mentioned about his freedom of speech, however, you're talking about someone (Ren) who is not American and is talking about American freedom of speech and the affects of it on society. Btw, I enjoyed your reaction(s). (Also, thought you might like to know that Shell Oil started out in the early 1800s selling sea shells.)
I hope you try going down Melanie Martinez rabbit hole, she's unique with her videos & lyrics.... Maybe start with "Dollhouse" her first song from 2014 and go through her Triology (3 albums) I'd really enjoy seeing that, thanks for your videos! ❤
#1 Romain is the person playing the guitar. # 2 there is a video version, but this one is the better of the two. #3 Yes Ren was playing the piano at the start and his friend Connor took over. There was one mistake the young lady playing the violin got wet and they had to replace the stings on the violin. He brought over one of his reaction friends from Canada to do the BTS which you can find. Loved the reactions
Thanks!
Ian!!! You’re the man!!

His friend (I forget his name) takes over for the rest of the track.
@AlecSwiftHikes - Well done on stating the bleedin' obvious, lol. This was recorded live. At what other point could he have played the piano? :)

Why wouldn't he sing that, he can sing in a tone very similar to that, seems strange?
Because it wasn’t needed he used a metaphor instead
Heard him mention that he was happy with the ending, because he didn’t have have that chorus, it plays without playin as soon as the rain falls.
@@Kamuswolf "Rain, Rain, Rain" was being PLAYED by the orchestra, just slowed way down.
The rain at the end? “Oh rain, rain, rain, rain….a storm it comes our way.” Absolute brilliance.

That lyric really pulled the series together 🌟🦇🌟🦇🌟
Thanks for doing all three together. Love your reactions! ❤️#Ren. ☮️❤️😎
Love love this reaction yet another amazing video
The chorus of MG 1 and 2 is in 3, the beginning where he hums is the chorus and the string quartet also plays it, slowed down.
💙 Great reaction guys!
4th Wall: "Uhh, Ren, we need to talk...."
I love that you've found our boy and get it. Not many don't get it.
Oh rain, rain, rain. A storm it comes our way…
EPIC is the only way to discribe the art that Ren gives us❤
Thank you for reacting to my favourite artist ever subscribed ❤❤❤
That is indeed Ren on the piano, and get this... he's self-taught!
The chorus was used in metaphor instead 😅 it literally “rain rain rain”ed, and at the beginning he looked himself in the mirror ❤
Ren is an absolute genius! The theatrical elements along with his lyrics. So fantastically unique!
I loved before in part one and two point the mirror at ourselves Ren looks in the mirror, genius. Part 3 one an award at Cannes film festival and Yamaha I remember right sponsored him and lent him the piano.
Awsome bruvs love when you guys do Ren. One of favs this react . Shot 🔥🤘
Great reaction, thank you Gents, so much more to see 🙏🦉❤️🐊👍
"Finger on the trigger of a money game " appears once in each video. GENIUS
yeah he's amazing on the piano watch Mackay. he also composed the strings at the end too, it''s a version of the money game music if you concentrate on the melody xxx loving your reactions just found you guys tonight x
He does an instrumental video called Mackay just Ren and the piano in a beautiful setting.
Pt 1 concept; pt 2 macro; pt 3 micro…lesson: don’t be a greedy kunt lol the rain rain rain was literal at the end ❤❤❤
1 seems about a history lesson, 2 was about corporations, 3 about personal pressures to have money whether from his dad or society.
Subscribed after binging all of your Ren content, you've barely scratched the surface - he's going to keep surprising you!
You can see why Ren and Sam want to make a musical 'Black Mirror' tv show for Netflix. Let's all support them in that goal as it would be exceptional.
I don't think Money Game needs to be done together or even in order. But there's little touches in 3 that make sense if you've seen the other ones first. Mad respect for sitting through all three at once. Awesome breakdown. 💜
Go react to Ren's Mackay. It is purely a piano piece. Yet it tells, just like his lyrical pieces, a vivid story.
Dig deeper guys 🏴🏴
Great reaction boys. Im looking forward to checking out all you Ren reactions. Thank you.
Subbed!
Welcome to the Ren train!
Edit: I'm going to binge our Ren reactions. Great Reakt, btw.! Greetings from Germany.
One take video with a lot of people is "Animal flow". Brutal
Don't forget the vocalist, the message is relevant. But his Vocals.
Awesome reaction .
Good reaction guys.
Come for the reactions, stay for the moustaches
🤘
Great reaction ❤🇬🇧
Nice reaction to a great trilogy
Great reaction!
❤❤ren
I'm a few weeks late watching but I'm here now ❤
The strings were playing the theme at the end.
He’s got a few songs where he’s playing the piano
Love you guy's 💗 please do 'for joe', amazing piano there
ren on the piano, gotta see where the cuts are in the video lol
I hope you try going down Melanie Martinez rabbit hole, she's unique with her videos & lyrics.... Maybe start with "Dollhouse" her first song from 2014 and go through her Triology (3 albums) I'd really enjoy seeing that, thanks for your videos! ❤
Irritating and incongruous (albeit it mildly) when some fool makes another suggestion in the comments of a Ren video.
Relax….that’s how we find new artists 😂
I ain't got no money, but Animal Flow would be nice for you to see the choreographed one take on a tiny budget comparatively.
Yeah check out Wolf Johnson BTC. See the rehearsals and Knox hill acting as the waiter.
Watch "for joe" for his piano skills
I believe in an interview he said 138 takes on money game 3
You should go and look at the documentary vibe that they did of him making this music video
