Hello Jeff - we meet you guys in Annapolis this fall at the sailboat show. We talked about Katy and what she had to offer - we took you advice and signed up for the 45 crewed cat - really excited and wanted to thank you for taking the time to discuss your own experiences with a charter cat and your reasoning behind getting a crewed boat vs the bare boat. Thanks again!
I've watched several videos on this subject. Yours was the best by far. You covered everything in a fun way and explained things not to do and why one shouldn't do them. Great video.
You’re very welcome. We’ve had lots of folks tell us that they make their boat guests watch this before getting on the plane now. 😊 We give our guests a test when they get here 😜
Absolutely fabulous video! We both thought we were pretty well versed in sailing/boat guest etiquette but like you accurately pointed out, every boat owner is different so this was very informative especially as upcoming guests! I hope we pass 🤞🏼Can’t wait!
This is to certify that the curly crew has watched this video and agree to all terms. ☺️ Seriously though, great video! Can’t wait to see you both and looking forward to some fun sailing ⛵️
Useful! I had no idea, specially because I had no friends boat owners haha, but I will keep it in mind for the future because I love the boat´s life and the ocean.
This is great stuff I see a lot of cruiser channels with guests changing all the time. They call them "crew" but really few qualify. They are mostly there to look good in a bikini (Not specifically calling out plucky). What I don't see is safety lessons and this stuff being shared. Would solve a lot of problems The other day I saw a new "crew" member, who had never been on a boat before, get upset at being told not to leave the cockpit at night. In her defence, it was clear she did not imagine how bad it would be to fall off at night and nobody told her the dangers. Still, I would get that one of my boat as soon as possible, no matter what she looks like on the RUclips thumb teaser.
Great info guys, thank you for sharing. The guy falling off the boat was hilarious! And getting to hear wind therapy as the Outro was a nice little bonus.
That was fun, there's so much more! As a guest, one of the first things I like to ask my host is if there is anything they want to share with me about their boat; it's rare that everything is working optimally, or there might be something in particular that requires some finesse even if I feel competent in it's function. That way I don't inadvertently add to the moment at hand.
LOL, my boat is not as roomy as yours but we have many of the same "rules". Another is, don't smear sunscreen all over the place. It can make surfaces slippery! This was a fun one to watch, Thanks.
Least favorite part of boats is the fridge. Even our Airstream has a normal style fridge, it is just smaller. I have a drawer-style freezer at my house and HATE it.
"There all welcome back except one" is what you should have said so your guests will be on their best behavior next time because they're thinking it might have been them.
I seen this on a boat 30 years ago and now it on mine. SAILOR'S TEN COMMANDMENTS I am The Lord thy Captain. There shall be no higher power aboard this ship. 1. Thou shall not disobey my order. 2. Thou shall not tell me bullshit. 3. Thou shall not lose thy cool. 4. Thou shall not take any strong drink or any strong drugs unless with my permission. 5. Thou shall not sleep on watch. 6. Thou shall not waste water. 7. Thou shalt not hassle thy shipmate. 8. Thou shall not pissed to Windward. 9. Thou shall not bitch. 10. Any questions, refer to number one. So be it.
An excellent video that will remind guests of being respectful to their host. This is their home. Thanks !
Thank you!
Thank you for getting real. There are so many sailing channels out there. First time I’ve seen anyone talk about etiquette. Thank you!
You’re very welcome!

That’s awesome guys! Keep us posted on how it goes and let us know if we could help in any way.

Thanks Terry. We sure had a lot of fun making this one too!
This was fantastic. Thank you for your candor. You were spot on with each one.
It was fun making it too! But also serious of course.
Thanks for the video, we use it for to educate our kids and first time guests on a charter

Thanks for watching it and for the comment. Now you can come visit. 🤪
Great video, I'm now more informed about boat life. Thank you.
You are very welcome! We felt it would be a good idea to show boat guests some of the issues we try and avoid 😊
We have the "flat surface" problem sorted - we have a monohull 🤣One good tack and the surfaces are clear again!!!!!
That’s really funny and made us laugh! Thanks for that.
Great video! Probably your best yet. We need a "part 2" in a month or so.
Oh we’re already lined up with a bunch of other examples 😊. We’ll try and shoot it all shortly. Thanks for watching!

Cool! Be prepared for the test too. 😜. We'll pick you up from the airport. See you soon!

The only thing better than owning a boat is to have a friend own the boat. 😄

Thanks for the comment Christopher. We agree that setting expectations is critical. Thanks for watching!
Promise I won’t be an early morning stomper. Even though I really will be looking for the sunrise lol can’t wait to see you both
But we’re okay with you looking into the hatch but I think you might not like what you see 😂🤪. We’re Really looking forward to the trip!
@@SailingWindTherapy lmao 🤣
Great video and so true to everything mentioned.
There are lots of Mike Rules 😁
Thanks for the insight.
You’re very welcome. We know a lot of people who make their guests watch this before they set sail 😀
Excellent, well done.
Thanks!
Love this! Showing to all who come aboard. Cheers, Ted and Annette
Thanks! We think it could help lighten up the serious nature of the Rules.
Great info guys, thank you for sharing. The guy falling off the boat was hilarious! And getting to hear wind therapy as the Outro was a nice little bonus.
We think that was the best part too! That’s our friend Steve who is Buddy Sailing with us on SV Kailua

Thanks Sean. That means you’re a very good and concerned guest! It doesn’t always work out that way for others 😜
Good Job Guys.
Thanks!
you guys are great The only thing I did when I ran my 30 foot sportfisher is how to run the boat if I can't
We’ll that’s important too. Plus on your sport fisher you can go a lot faster just in case you need to throw someone off at the nearest port 😃
LOL, my boat is not as roomy as yours but we have many of the same "rules". Another is, don't smear sunscreen all over the place. It can make surfaces slippery! This was a fun one to watch, Thanks.
Thanks for watching! We may actually do a part 2 since we did forget a bunch of other rules. That is one of them.
Really good and fun🤟, thanks❤️
Thank you!
Very good video, never thought I would ruin someone else's vacation by falling off the boat! :-)
And the dying part that follows too 🤪
Great video guys! I got some good tips from it, I am so sharing this with aveyone that visits Ely :)
Cool! We hope all your boat work will be done soon.
Omygosh! I just Love your channel. Honestly it’s was a GREAT VIDEO! of information on how to be a wonderful guest.
PeaceAndLove
Lori
Thanks Lori! We had a lot of fun making it too.
excellent video :) very needed
Thanks very much!
Very funny 😄 but very informative. Sorry for my English. Stay safe. Hi 👋 from France
Merci beaucoup 😄
@@SailingWindTherapy your French is so good. 😉
Least favorite part of boats is the fridge. Even our Airstream has a normal style fridge, it is just smaller. I have a drawer-style freezer at my house and HATE it.
But at least it keeps the beer cold 😊
Fantastic and hilarious! Can we link this on our Instagram so all our people see it too?
Of course! But I don’t think Instagram lets you post links. If you figure it out, let us know 😊
Bring Pop-Tarts and Don’t eat the last Pop-Tart!
We should have added that part! Maybe in the next video?
Got it- eat potato chips! Aye, aye, captain
Errrr…. I think it was DONT eat all of the potato chips but I’ll find another hiding space before you come onboard
Funny and " l'étiquette " explained humorousticuly
Thanks for watching. Glad you liked it.
Excellent - it's all about values but some people just don't get it
It’s really hard to transition from land to sea so we cut people a little slack. But sometimes you’re right and some folks just can’t understand it.
Thank you, common sense rules but as a non sailor some of that probably wouldn’t occur to me without it being spelled out .
Definitely! That’s always the real challenge. That’s why we made the vid 😊. Thanks for watching!
I’m bummed; I thought I was the 6am stomper…
Oh you are the original! We should have done a 6am kayak dragger bit 😃
❤
Thanks Patricia for always giving us the love 😍
👍👍👍👍👍
