My number one tip (since my school days) is to try and memorize the lyrics first thing in the morning. Evening time is probably the worst time to try and learn a song. I also put the lyrics on my phone and sing/speak to myself while out walking. I find I walk an extra three miles trying this method. After that it's just repeat and repeat ..It's also a great excerise for the mind as one gets older. After that I record it & put it up on YT (as private). I then open another another window with a profession recording of the song. I go through line by line and compare the professional recording with my amateur version.. It's great for getting the breathing,phrasing & pronunciation just right. Hope that might help somebody.
another tip attached to this: try taking a nap right after you study the song. sleep is the main process in which our short-term memory gets implanted into long-term memory. it doesnt take long for me, just a 30 min nap helps a lot

Also when I go it on my own I bring the lyrics incase the lyrics go off which happened once. Call me prepared but they don't really like you doing that as you have to have a stand next to you x

I can absolutely memorize lyrics by reading/singing them enough times. The front man in a band I was in was fired and i took over. A gig was usually 4 sets, and there was no time to memorize lyrics for that many songs. I took the lyrics off the recordings, writing them down, (it was the seventies and no internet to copy and paste lyrics from) and sang them from the page during gigs and eventually had them memorized.

Here’s a relatable moment When you’re going into highschool but corona is hindering a lot of stuff and you get a random email from a show choir coach that says your middle school chorus teacher put in some good words about you even though you only did chorus for half a year and wants you to join ADVANCED SHOW CHOIR and you have to memorize a song so you can get your audition done through zoom because the girl you like and is also your best friend is in this too and you want to be able to show off to her. Super relatable am I right?
Update: We had our first meeting today. It went great! Our director is super nice and was excited to have all of us there. I’m super excited and will keep you guys posted with more stuff later.

I love these! I also like repeating each stanza. I'll memorize one stanza, repeat it, and memorize the next one until I memorize the song fully.
