It was watching magic. They never dig into the ice, they glided across it. Even with their superb speed, they never rushed the elements, they completed them fully, let you soak it all in. Simply outstanding and still in 2021, no one has come close to the magic, beauty and joy of this couple.
There will never be a story like this one. On the ice they were powerful, graceful, elegant. And off the ice they were so in love. It still breaks my heart. I watch them every single day. Thank utube. They should have gone on forever.
She was so young in age but performed in such a mature manner and was able to keep up with Sergei! It blows my mind that she was traveling the world at 11. I am sure Sergei recognized Katia’s focus when it came to her drive to get better and it challenged him to do the same. Once the coaching situation was dealt with there wasn’t anything or anyone that was going to stop their achievements. They were just incredible! Miss them!
They were Kissed on the Forehead by God!, and Sent Out To Enchant The World. They are Enchanting Purely Magical!!! On and Off the Ice. You can see the Beauty and Purity in their Connection with each other. I just love and adore them. God Bless

Gordeeva & Grinkov were such a GREAT AWESOME team when they were skating. Saw them several times in person. Such a very very sad ending. You also have a hard time beating Scott Hamilton, he introduced some many things to ice skating.

Every single time I watch this, I’m amazed. Amazed by their lovely talent and their pure beauty and grace. They literally just float across the ice, as Peggy Fleming says here. And amazed at how especially AWESOME Katia is here at such a young age!!! I mean, look at both of her girls. Even Liza Kulik, at this age that Katia was here, didn’t have the same level of perfection that Katia had at age 16. And that only goes to show how phenomenal, how one-in-a-million she really was/is. And like they said, Sergei is also just as phenomenal. He is talented enough such that he presents Katia so that she can shine and do what she always does best. And THAT is the heart of a true partnership - being strong and confident enough in your own abilities to allow your partner to shine in hers/his. What a pair these two were. Never again will there be another pair like them......never again......
At the time, I thought how moving and beautiful they were, how infectious their joy was, above and beyond their technical skills which were also amazing. I love how Peggy Fleming is free in her positive comments, which was daring of her at the time given the negative sentiments at the time, yet look how wonderfully their artists were supported and thrived. Today, I feel that the skaters are more wooden and don't exhibit or inspire such great feelings and passion. G&G are so full of life, and it is the stuff of fairy tales to see such a handsome prince able to lift the princess in the air as if she were a feather. Absolutely legendary, looking back and above and beyond those before or after... It is amazing the foresight of this coach pairing these two beautiful children together... I'm glad Katya found happiness again also... I think Sergei must have been an angel on earth. He looks as good and kind as he is beautiful, strong and dashing...
Skating has definitely lost its heart. The days of Katia & Sergei, Scott Hamilton, Yamaguchi, and all the other early 90s skaters were truly the best! Well, minus Kerrigan & Harding. Way too much drama with those two :P
I was watching the gold pair from the 2018 competition and I was left not feeling anything. Sure they are EXTREMELY talented, but it was like “yeah that was good” instead of the emotional roller coaster that you get from g&g. By the time they are done you are filled with something you didn’t have at the beginning. If that makes any sense lol. It’s truly difficult to put in words.I forgot to add that I don’t think the woman smiled once through the whole program. It’s just all so technical now that they’ve lost the part that hits you in your heart and soul.

GOLDEN age of skating, Gordeeva & Grinkov, the two Brians, Katerina Witt. You do not get better than that. They are all the biggest legends.
Talk about glorious...but I'm with you, I cry too. What really gets me is the music - Liszt's Liebestraum 3 - because of the words to the song fitting their tragic story so well. They run "O love as long as you can, O love as long as you may...the day comes, the day comes when you by a grave will stand and weep." They were great artists indeed... I can't believe I only recently discovered them. RIP Sergei.
I think Sergei was such a superb and graceful skater, athletic yet graceful, rarely seen in a male skater. Of course she as well very artistic, yet he was a stronger, better skater I feel. I haven't seen ever so much passion, grace, and tenderness on ice ever.

Wow look how young she was. That's amazing. I can't believe how amazing they were together and how healthy Sergei was. Now it's very hard to watch this without remembering that fateful day. I feel so bad for Katia and Daria having to go through his absence every single day. Poor Daria was only three years old at the time. I'm so glad that they've come this far. Nearly 22 years since his death, and they're still going strong. I'm very proud of them.

I agree but I noticed in their partnership, when it came to skating ( don’t mind their personal life ) but just pure skating, commentators rarely talked about him. It was always only about her. Watch the videos from Calgary, all the commentators were talking about how she is is so incredible and how they all love her but not so much him

Giorgio Cesari quando li appaiarono lei aveva solo 10 anni e lui 14,lei era uno scricciolo e lui un adolescente riottoso che non amava troppo si essere appaiato con lei..ed invece sul ghiaccio entrarono subito in sintonia...di lui si dice che è stato il miglior pattinatore maschio di coppie di artistico, alto più di 1.80 e con 80 kg di peso quando scivolava sul ghiaccio non produceva nessun rumore..gli esperti dicono che così pattinano solo i grandi campioni
