How can an academic associate an anthem written by a foreigner as representing nationalism than one written by Nigerians? How can Nigerians now describe themselves as tribe and native which are derogatory and demeaning words used by Europeans against the colonised people .
How can this associate Prof fail to point these issues out in her analysis of the anthem? What nationalist spirit is the associate Prof talking about when the government is describing the citizens as tribes and natives? The government should address the myriad of socio-economic problems currently confronting the country.
People who are singing the old/new anthem are not properly informed. It is a diversionary tactic.
