    Fella, you have a very natural, chatty style of presenting, with a nice mix of rides and tech stuff, and that's what keeps it interesting. I'm fussy about who I sub to, and I never comment unless someone actually manages to properly captivate me. As long as you continue being real, and being a personable individual as you have been, then whatever you put out will be fine. People try to put out the most shiny, polished, impossibly perfect production value-wise vlog, but the content sucks. *IF* you want to post a video, we'll consume it. Hi Peter, as mentioned previously I am training to do the entire length of Cornwall in a day ( approx 95 miles ) I did 63 miles today with 1700 feet elevation, the north Coast route which you recommended is approximately 3500 elevation, I found the 63 miles I did ok, no heart or lung problems more stiffness and pain in neck shoulders and bum !!! I’m actually going to drive the route in a couple of weeks just to see the challenge ahead before tackling it around Easter next year. Rather than do say an 70 plus mile ride, I think I might try and do a couple of 40 plus mile rides in the Lakes to help with 20:56 hill conditioning , I’m a bit apprehensive as I’m 60, and 15 stone , I’ve done hill challenges before ( Great Dun Fell my greatest achievement). What do you think, please don’t feel that you have to be diplomatic, as always thanks for your support over the years. Fig Roll Paul

    • @petertreadway
      @petertreadway  13 дней назад

      Hey Paul, the 63 miles you did today sounds like a good taster and no heart or lung problems is a definite good sign. Slight curveball suggestion though but with the neck and backside pain, have you considered a bike fit. It will cost you a could hundred quid but if 63 miles are causing you stiffness and pain, then 95 might leave you almost crippled, which is no fun, believe me! a bike fit will ensure that you weight is distributed evenly on the bike and should alleviate both the backside and neck issues. It'll also optimise your pedal stroke, so you'll get full efficiency form each revolution.
      Aside from that, a ride around the Lakes will defo help with hill climb condition. Try to find a route that will mimic the elevation gain the Cornwall route will give you, to give you a closer idea to how you'll feel for the big push. If you're up near the Lakes, then a few trips to get your hill club stamina up is definitely recommended. Otherwise, just find a decent length hill near you and do some hill repeats, up and down it as many times as you can stomach. It's boring as hell, but will really pay off when it comes to some of this Cornish undulations!
      As ever though, keep me update with how you get on. 💪

      In terms of bike security, every time I’ve done it, I’ve put my bike in a support van, so it’s always been relatively safe. However, leaving it in the designated cycle area on the boat should be fine, as no one is allowed on the parking deck after the boat sets sail. Id say it depends on your goal. If you just want to conquer 95 miles in one go, then you’ll likely want to save that for the big day but even though, I’d probably suggest getting close to that (maybe 90 miles) on a practice run before hand.
      That’ll give you a real feel of what you might need on the day and the toll it’ll take on you during and afterwards. I reckon if you keep pushing the ‘shorter’ rides though, you’ll get through the 95 miles with ease, Paul. 💪🏻
