    This was one of my favourite games as a child. I fondly remember using the Pteradon to do exactly as you suggest ABNB, dropping one of my sister's explorers with a gold piece into the swamp one move away from the swamp monster! I don't remember the temple so I guess given our ages that may have had a "mishap" or else it was a bit of a pain to put together and have it stay together so we gave up on it. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to relive a bit of my childhood!

    The best Dinosaurs game is still the German-only Die Schlact der Dinosaurier. This is by Milton Bradley Germany with Games Workshop handling the sculpts and the inimitable Steven Baker (Heroquest, Space Crusade) doing the design. You NEED a copy.

    This game looks like a childs dream. The Lava tokens are thw most brilliant part for me. Never thought of a mechanic like that.

    • @AlwaysBoardNeverBoring
      @AlwaysBoardNeverBoring  8 дней назад

      The lava is a really fun idea, and because the lava is placed by the player who drew the card, it can get quite chaotic as the lava branches off into different directions based on what each player is trying to achieve with it. Really great stuff, and shows how good games aimed at children can be.

    My mother found me a new copy for $2 Australian, and it is in great condition. It's only missing one of the beige explorers.
    I loaned it to the game library of a convention I was running before covid and it was one of the most popular games being played by people that year. That and Dungeon. I was considering making a big diorama style board for the game as a con centrepiece, but then covid hit and the con died.

    Interesting how you lay down the lava. When we played it as children each piece of lava had to connect to the previous piece making unbroken streams.

    • @AlwaysBoardNeverBoring
      @AlwaysBoardNeverBoring  8 дней назад

      Each piece of lava has to be placed next to at least one piece that is already in play. In this way there will be no breaks in the lava, but you aren't restricted to placing the lava in streams either.
      There is a diagram in the rules showing that the three you place at the same time once you reach the valley floor don't have to connect to each other, they just have to connect to at least one other piece of lava anywhere on the board.

    • @IsmaeeldeSilva
      @IsmaeeldeSilva 8 дней назад

      @AlwaysBoardNeverBoring interesting although less aesthetically pleasing. The other thing i remember was losing T Rexes and having to substitute in some from my dinosaur collection. Good times! As my Mum rarely gets rid of such things, hopefully I can dig it out to play with my children. They wil doubtless highlight many other rules we overlooked as children!

    • @jasonnewell7036
      @jasonnewell7036 8 дней назад

      @@AlwaysBoardNeverBoring I usually played the blue knight. I'm a red player normally, but my sister always wanted to play the red piece in this game, and she was very much a, "give me that one or I won't play!" sort of person.
