Genuinely love how the show fleshed out the criminal world to the point that you see how a guy like Batman is a complete anomaly to them. Everyone is a bunch of grounded gangsters and killers, then a guy in a bat suit tears down their whole world.
So many villains made into anti hero’s now in media. I love that they basically took us on the ride of Victor in the show. At the start we see him commit a crime then just bring Victor in immediately. By the middle of the show you started to warm up to Oz like Victor did and didn’t mind him while understanding the way he is. But just like Victor in his final moments to then pull all the layers back on Oz and expose us how evil of a guy he is, was done so well. Hats off to everyone involved.

No one thought penguin was a good guy, we all knew he was a scumbag, there’s a difference between liking a character and liking the person that character is, people love the character because it’s a brilliant entertaining portrayal but hardly anyone ever liked who Oz is as a person, and now people really hate the person he is. Sophia will get out of Arkham quickly and legally through Selina. Selina knows that Sophia was not the Hangman and that she innocently spent 10 years in Arkham. This is then counted as compensation and she is dismissed. Btw. A point that you and many others have not noticed. The mother has made Penguin swear to kill her if she turns into vegetable. In the hospital, Penguin also talks again about the fact that she is now a vegetable. To fulfill HIS wish for her and to bring her to a Penthouse was more important to him than to fulfill HER WISH to die.
Doubtful. Selina has a record, no pull, no evidence, and Sophia was put in there this time for crimes she actually committed, such as the Crown Point explosion. If she gets out, that’s definitely not how.
@alexman378 In principle, there are only circumstantial evidence, but no compelling evidence, that Sofia committed the new acts. Furthermore, much, if not everything, is based on the fact that she is the Hangman, but that's not true. So if it turns out that she is not the Hangman, everything falls apart. What's more, she's not crazy, which is why she shouldn't be in Arkham at all. This verdict would then also be invalid. The rest is then simply no longer credible to sell and she is free to go. Besides, we are not in a courtroom drama but in a comic.
I love that very last scene even beyond the fanservice. It underscores what an actual Pyrrhic Victory Oz really had. He made it to the top of Gotham's underworld at the cost of his mother, his most loyal soldier, and anything left of his soul... and in the grand scheme of things all he's done is get the attention of the man who's going to bring him down.
I'm so glad Sofia is alive, she is my favorite character. She has another reason to endure Arkham besides getting revenge on Oz, having a sister, I really liked that now she knows she's not alone. I wish we saw what Selina wrote in the letter but of course they leave it as cliffhanger.
I swear Colin, Cristin and the whole cast and crew deserve to clean up at the Emmys next year! This series was totally next level and never dipped in quality 👏 Oz definitely drew us all in and fooled us all. At the end of the day, The Penguin is part of Batman's Rogue's Gallery for a reason 😢 I for sure thought that Victor was gonna become Victor Zsasz later on (even in comics Zsasz and Oswald have history) but goddamn..... and seeing Oz go almost full Classic Penguin was Chef's kiss 👌 Colin has confirmed to be filming scenes for Batman 2 and 3, so him and Sofia are not done yet in the Reeves Universe. Incredible show by everyone, and cannot wait for the Batman Part 2 👏👏👏
I think Penguin killed Vic not only because he didn’t want any attachments, but also because Vic was getting too good at his job. The way Oz went on about how Vic did such a great job with knocking off the other mobsters. If Vic can pull this off now when he’s still pretty green, then how worried does Oz have to be once he has years of experience? Vic started out as a driver just like Oz, now Oz is the new kingpin and he rose to the top by selling people out and killing them. Sure, Vic might be loyal and ride-or-die right now, but what happens when he gets a taste of real power?
Stuck the landing like Kerri Fi'ng Strug. Just the signal. That's all we needed. It's iconic enough on its own, and the writers of this show understand that. The Penguin fully revealed, as powerful as he's ever been, as powerful as he's always wanted to be, then... Just. The. Signal.
Best line of the episode "You're so busy filling your own plate that you can't see everyone around you is starving !!! "Best line of the episode that was a microphone drop!
As ruthless & heartbreaking as it was, I love the fact they had him kill Vic, keeping him alive would've been the sentimental & wrong choice for Oz's character. Until the very end this show delivered on the drama & kept the shocks coming. Bravo for creating the best show of 2024 HBO. 👏

Best show of the year! As much as I liked Vic, that was probably the best thing that could've happened at that moment. Penguin is a monster. Can't wait for Batman 2.
Just to remind you: in The Batman, Selena wanted to kill Carmine. The only reason why she didn't do it was because Batman stopped and prevented her from doing so. Therefore, no way that Selena wanted to avenge Carmine's death. Selena was happy when Carmine got shot by the Riddler.
Everyone brings up Collin and Cristin (rightly so) but I don’t see enough love going around for Deirdre and Rhenzy, who both absolutely CRUSHED their roles! They have some excellent scene-stealing moments, and both of their portrayals of their characters disabilities felt so authentic and grounded. Just marvelous performances from the entire cast!
Punisher season 1, Daredevil seasons one and three were the best comic book shows ever made. That's until the season or series finale of The Penguin aired. That show has the crown now. But more than that, it's also one of the best shows HBO has ever produced.
Frank and Matt both would have their hands full trying to contend with Oz, from what we’ve seen. In an MCU New York, he’d have rackets with exo-suit knockoffs and street-superserums, and he’s easily as ruthless as any of their street level villains! It’s for the best this Gotham is more grounded, a setting where the Penguin gets hands on super-shit would be a disaster for everyone. He’s dangerous enough as a mobster with a limp.
If you guys want some backstory to this universe’s Riddler, read Riddler: Year one written by the Riddler himself, Paul Dano. It’s well written and the artwork is awesome, I believe it’s canon to the Battinson universe too.
Finally caught up with this show - glad i waited which meant i could binge it all over 2 nights ❤ Steven, I love seeing your passion for these shows come across through the screen. And although Nikki says she's just a casual viewer, seeing her as invested as the rest of us is joyous to watch. Love you both 💜
Great acting by Colin, just as we were led to believe he was an anti hero, the hammer came down and we realized he always a monster. Can't wait for Bats to beat the crap out of him in the sequel. RIP Victor.
Oz is a great liar because he believes his own BS. He would have let his own mother suffer than to ever admit that he's the monster. Great show and some of the best performances of the year.
When I seen how he did his brothers, I still felt he had some good in him. Especially for Victor, who came back for him and saved his life when he could’ve flown away with his girlfriend. I wanted to throw my phone because Oz truly is evil and I fell for it. I loved Vic 😭 you better get his ass, Bruce 😭
I love how they drawwed you in to loving the character of Oz and how he had a hard upbringing to then slowly showing what he really is and what he stands for. Absolute masterpiece!
Honestly a lot of shows and movies now that cover villains make them almost anti hero’s. They are likeable and going after some form and of their own justice. I liked that in the early episodes that we got to kind of feel like Victor and grow to like the penguin. But I like that now at the end of the show we get to see him for what he really is. Honestly amazing storytelling.
OZ made a mistake by killing Victor! Without him, he would have died from the first episode! And poor mom, she told him that she didn't want to end up in vegetables! He may have given him what he promised him but at the same time no, the penguin is scary
I love the fact that Sofia was right when she said that Oz really doesn't care about his mother. The scene in the hospital, although sad, was such an eye opener since he had just found out that his mother is a vegetable and all he cares about is her not giving him the approval he's so desperately wanted his whole life. And because of how selfish he is, he ignores the promise he made to her about ending her life when she got to that state and keeps her alive, in this mental and physical prison. He truly is the devil.
He is so self-absorbed he can't even give his mother her last wish. She made him promise if anything ever happened to her that he would let her die or if needed kill her. Instead, he leaves her a vegetable trapped insider her body. Even see the tear roll down her cheek as she lays there.
Penguin ended Victor's life, just like Falcone did with his victims. I can't pretend I didn't expect Penguin to betray Victor, but bro, stealing his money from his wallet even though he was dead was too much... The show was amazing
The fact that his mom said ‘if I’m ever a vegetable, take me ‘out’, I don’t wanna live like that, promise me’, and he couldn’t even do that for her just shows how EVERYTHING he does is just for him. 100% selfishly motivated
I always had a feeling this is how it would end. Sofia wasn’t born a monster but Oz was, and it’s been shown time and time again. It’s why she was the scapegoat for Falcone. It’s why she couldn’t kill her niece. It’s why she couldn’t off Francis. It’s even why she decides to team up with Sam instead of killing him while at his lowest. But Oz? He wouldn’t have hesitated if he was in her position. And it’s why he “wins” in the end - because it takes a monster to run this type of game. I honestly feel like death would’ve been a merciful end for Sofia…she wanted to be free and it doesn’t get much freer than death. But Oz knew that, and it’s part of the reason he gets her thrown back into Arkham instead. A fate worse than death.
I have genuinely not been unnerved like watching the final scene with oz and his mom. He genuinely thinks his mom is proud of him but she’s in an actual hellish inescapable nightmare.
@@liamcephus9687He is insane but he is smart, he knows caring for someone is a weakness in this crime world, he had to get rid of Victor plus that politician told him he needed to be clean, Victor knows all the shit Oz did so that was another reason to get rid of him.
@@ororomunroe4055 So does Link, damn near all the gangs in Gotham. That’s not the reason Vic died. Oz killed Vic because he has a screwed up view of emotional attachments. It just costs him too much in his opinion.
I like how Oz was dressed as an Emperor Penguin at the end. Nice touch. Also all his lies tend to have a good mixture of true in them. As compared to Walter White who would just tell 100% lie and it was super obvious.
what made me sad as im still processing what's happened is when Oz was crying and bring in his darkest moment , Vic leant a hand for comfort and what did Oz do in return offer his hand around Vucs throat 😩 if your going to make Penguin a true villain this was the only way I felt but i do wonder in the film we see a news report about Vics death
The first moment Oz goes into that courtroom, the set design of the walls looks like an homage to the Court Of Owls. I wonder if it's an easter egg of some kind or subliminal
His mom called him a devil and that's what he was. They slowly pealed back just how evil he was until you see him literally murder the last bit of his humanity with Vic.
If you backstory on the riddler. Paul Dano, the actor, actually wrote a three or four issue comic series about the riddler’s origins and how he planned his attack. It’s called RIDDLER YEAR ONE . Its amazing
I love how this series is not afraid to show Oz as a villain. Too many things these days are too shy in making evil characters. The Penguin is vile and rightfully so. Colin nailed this role, and deserves all the awards.
What was going on with Sofia trying to get Penguin to finally confess to his mom he is responsible for his brothers reminded me of that part from season 2 of Sons of Anrachy with Opie, that judge, and the judge’s son. When Ope was gonna take out the son if the judge didn’t cooperate and the judge refused making Ope mad that the judge is actually gonna let him do that to his own son. And here Penguin still wouldn’t fess up despite his mom knowing already. He never cared for her. He wanted to stay with the lie
*The* *Penguin* I finally caught up and finished the series last night. I was going to make a comment for Ep. 6 about 2 weeks ago but just didn’t find the time. Then when Ep. 7 rolled around, I didn’t see it until the other night. I was so invested on our 2024 Election, I decided to put off watching The Penguin until only 2 days ago. I personally thought Ep. 6 was a little weak. Felt it was a rethread. I don’t hate it or think it’s awful. Just wasn’t one of the stronger episodes. But Ep. 7 and 8 were very strong. Ep. 7 gave us a very informative background on Oz’s younger life and how needy he’s always been. The scene that broke most viewers’ hearts: Oz chokes Victor to death. Damn. Damn. Damn. I had a feeling this would happen. Shows the black heart that Oz always had. He can care but he can never care enough as his mom told him. I did feel the last 2 episodes, Oz and Sofia were wearing plot armor as if the writers didn’t want to kill either one which makes sense. They’re too good to kill off this soon. But when Sofia got Oz’s mom to confess that she always knew Oz let his brothers drown, that was some gripping drama to watch. Then the betrayal of Link towards Zhao was one of those twists I did not see coming as I thought Victor was going to rat on Oz. I was relieved that Sofia wasn’t killed and only went back to Arkham where she would receive a letter from her half-sis, Selina Kyle (aka Catwoman). This can set up so many intriguing possibilities in the two sequels for The Batman. Bruce has got a lot on his plate if he has to deal with Oz and Sofia still alive out there. Oz truly is a wicked, wicked man who should get no sympathy from the viewers. Sofia is the better human being in the story. The ending was also quite beautiful. I hope this show wins Emmys for Colin and Cristin. It was the best performances of their careers. The most brilliant DC series I’ve ever seen with no bad episodes. It stayed consistent and it made sense. I’ll give it a 8.5/10 overall. Best series I’ve seen since Andor S1. RIP Victor ^ That scene is as heartbreaking as when Fredo Corleone was killed by Al Neri ordered by Michael in The Godfather Part II. Victor gave up everything for Oz and saved his life multiple times in the series only to get betrayed at the end. Can’t wait for The Batman II.
Even Oz telling Vic in the earlier episode "our names are going to live forever," was complete bullshit. The last thing we see Oz doing with Vic is chucking his I.D. in the river, just to drive home the point.

I for sure thought that Victor was gonna become Victor Zsasz later on (even in comics Zsasz and Oswald have history) but goddamn..... and seeing Oz go almost full Classic Penguin was Chef's kiss 👌
Colin has confirmed to be filming scenes for Batman 2 and 3, so him and Sofia are not done yet in the Reeves Universe.
That true Vic would sooner or later turned against oz
Agree. In Oz's mind there's no world in which the #2 doesn't want to become the #1.
I immediately thought of the bird story.
Stuck the landing like Kerri Fi'ng Strug.
Just the signal. That's all we needed. It's iconic enough on its own, and the writers of this show understand that. The Penguin fully revealed, as powerful as he's ever been, as powerful as he's always wanted to be, then...
Just. The. Signal.
perfect... every step of the way it was perfect
“Nothing’s standing in your way now.” Pans out to the sky as the Bat Signal is turned on. Absolutely brilliant
Really enjoyed you two reacting to this amazing series!!!!!!
Thank you for the super!! We really appreciate it. Show was so good.
@ Keep up the great work. Your channel is GREAT!!!!!!
Phew was waiting for you guys reaction cause jeez I'm still mind blowned on alot of things like between oz and eve , Selina Kyle , the confession of what happend in the tunnel and poor vic
Sigmund Frued would have something to say about Penguin's relationship with his mother 😂😂
"Everyone thinks they're the hero of their own story."
- Handsome Jack from Borderlands 2.
Is that a good movie?

It's a video game.
Nice 💯👍🔥

Best show of the year! As much as I liked Vic, that was probably the best thing that could've happened at that moment. Penguin is a monster. Can't wait for Batman 2.
He’s been a monster the whole time but the writers wanted to make sure no one was rooting for him going into Batman 2
Reminds me of president snow and Billy Russo
My boy vic put his faith on the wrong person… 🥺
If you guys want some backstory to this universe’s Riddler, read Riddler: Year one written by the Riddler himself, Paul Dano. It’s well written and the artwork is awesome, I believe it’s canon to the Battinson universe too.
we all can now collectively agree that penguin “des-ouves” death by vengeance 🦇
Been waiting for this for hours! Let’s gooo!
Finally caught up with this show - glad i waited which meant i could binge it all over 2 nights ❤
Steven, I love seeing your passion for these shows come across through the screen. And although Nikki says she's just a casual viewer, seeing her as invested as the rest of us is joyous to watch.
Love you both 💜
The way the penguin ended really had all the hallmarks of psycho. Norman Bates, Oswald Cobb definite mother issues.
"The road to power is paved by hypocrisy...and casualties."
- Frank Underwood from Netflix's House of Cards.
This is like Sopranos meet Breaking Bad. Victor is Jesse Pinkman and Oz is the combo of Tony Sopranos and Walter White. This is a true masterpiece.
All the acting in this series is excellent…🤩
Penguin would make an excellent GTA character 😂😂😂
He's like a smarter Ray Boccino from GTA4
You two must say have become my go to for watching shows or movies with. Good for you guys!
What a fantastic finale to a great show! And, unlike many other shows, they have the balls to show a villain as a freaking villain. Take notes Disney!
Honestly amazing storytelling.
a true monster through and through
One minute I'm crying for Oz the next I'm prayin for Batman to get his ass lol
OZ made a mistake by killing Victor! Without him, he would have died from the first episode! And poor mom, she told him that she didn't want to end up in vegetables! He may have given him what he promised him but at the same time no, the penguin is scary
Definitely made a big mistake 💯
@ Without Victor Aguilar the penguin would have nothing of what he has
oz will find another victor. people mean nothing to him
@@Ant-gu6vz No, you saw how he took his money from his wallet!
@@ramatutop He probably took the money to make it look like it was a robbery gone wrong.
I’ve been waiting for this video since last night! I look forward to your reviews ❤️ yall are great.
I can't believe penguin killed Victor he should've left California with his girlfriend when he had the chance.
Oz pulled off a perfect reverse Moe Green while on the move. A true S-Tier shot.
Well, Catwoman wanted to kill him if you remember it was Bruce that stopped it or Batman
Steven predicts the whole episode from the start 💀
Great reactions, guys. Loved the ride
Much worse was the ID victor died as a nobody and has no one looking for him.
Vic probably didn't even get identified
@@---bg9dq such a sad, as in previous episodes Penguin stressed that both would be remembered.
@theonott681 Bcoz he wants the police thinking that is just another robbery case in gotham.
Easily one of the best series of television ever created. Every single performance was award worthy!!
for sure...i hope these people get their props
LMAO that foreshadowing at 34:28 is INSANE!
I am so depressed Sofia ended up back in Arkham. That’s a greater tragedy to me than even Vic’s ending.
The confrontation with Oz and his mom reminded me so much of Ozymandias when Walt told Jesse he watched Jane die.
The fact that his mom said ‘if I’m ever a vegetable, take me ‘out’, I don’t wanna live like that, promise me’, and he couldn’t even do that for her just shows how EVERYTHING he does is just for him. 100% selfishly motivated
This was an insane finale 😳
His death was so brutal. Even if you saw it coming it was still shocking to watch.
I have genuinely not been unnerved like watching the final scene with oz and his mom. He genuinely thinks his mom is proud of him but she’s in an actual hellish inescapable nightmare.
Really great show from start to finish. I knew Oz wouldn't leave any loose ends, but it was rough to see. He was a good kid. Too good for that life.
This episode broke my heart!
VENGENCE IS COMING !!! Great reactions guys.
Vic was a real one. If I was a villain I'd want MORE Vics around not kill them lol
But you’re rational. lol Oz ain’t. He’s insane.
@@liamcephus9687He is insane but he is smart, he knows caring for someone is a weakness in this crime world, he had to get rid of Victor plus that politician told him he needed to be clean, Victor knows all the shit Oz did so that was another reason to get rid of him.
and your enemies would easily exploit that emotional attachment. You wouldn't make it long as a villain.
What a great way to end a great week!!! This series was EXCELLENT!!!
🇺🇸❤️🤍💙🇺🇸
The level Colin plays penguin feels like it's up there with Heath playing the Joker. That's how good I feel this is.
Just when you started considering him to be ok and someone to root for, the writers reminded you that he is indeed the villain. Brilliant
Watching you guys make your predictions about the episode in the intro was fun
The first moment Oz goes into that courtroom, the set design of the walls looks like an homage to the Court Of Owls. I wonder if it's an easter egg of some kind or subliminal
I’ve been waiting for this one…RIP VIC, F**K Oz!
Wow, I always viewed Penguin as the one villain that's not insane. He is just a businessman. He is true EVIL
This version of Penguin…yes.
Its amazing
It's between this and Daredevil season 3 for my favorite comic book tv show ever
Daredevil is hands down the best marvel show they've made 💯🔥👍 IMO
I love how this series is not afraid to show Oz as a villain. Too many things these days are too shy in making evil characters. The Penguin is vile and rightfully so. Colin nailed this role, and deserves all the awards.
R.I.P. Victor.
I was literally yelling at the my T.V. Dam, what a show!
oz is evil as fuck lol
In regards to a Riddler show, Paul Dano helped write a handful of comic books that gave an origin story. They're really good too, props to Paul.
10 / 10. Loved y'all's reactions to this tremendous show! RIP Victor 💔
It's amazing how Oz is incapable of telling the truth. Oz what happened? Sophia stabbed me.
*The* *Penguin*
I finally caught up and finished the series last night.
RIP Victor
^ That scene is as heartbreaking as when Fredo Corleone was killed by Al Neri ordered by Michael in The Godfather Part II. Victor gave up everything for Oz and saved his life multiple times in the series only to get betrayed at the end. Can’t wait for The Batman II.
You know what they say. The truth will set you free. And now, The Penguin is now forever a slave.
Even Oz telling Vic in the earlier episode "our names are going to live forever," was complete bullshit. The last thing we see Oz doing with Vic is chucking his I.D. in the river, just to drive home the point.
