- Spring is in the air with fresh colors arriving from Taylor Guitars. New for Spring 2023 are limited editions in the 200 series and a special edition 114ce. A pair of 214ce ltd's offer fresh colors in a beautiful transparent blue or transparent grey, both featuring black back and sides. A new 224ce offers both a new color in a transparent red as well as a new top featuring Tropical Mahogany.
Finally, a special edition of the popular 114ce adds a walnut aligned sunburst top to the mix.

The grey looks brown on my end.
It seems Taylor has some weird names for color with the exception of the red. The blue looks more like robin egg to me than denim. The gray is definitely more walnut brown in appearance on my screen. Similar to the Squire Starcaster.

I think it’s a good idea for Taylor. The 100 and 200 series are great sounding guitars and would be my recommendation for beginners and pros alike. I have a 110, 314, 410, 224ce-K DLX and custom built 815c as well as several Martins and others and there’s no reason to dis’ HPL guitars in the Taylor 100/200 series OR Martin X-series. I love them. These 100/200 Taylor spring releases are more unique than the colors alone using different woods for tops back and sides, particularly maple, which is rarely used by Taylor. I’ve never been a fan of maple B/S guitars, but that 214ce Blue/Black sounds great. The Lutz spruce top sounds stunning. The mahogany top as well, a lot different than other full hog guitars. If these new releases were simply about adding color to the 100 series sapele and 200 series rosewood, I’d say Ho Hum, NBD. There’s no shame in appealing to new players. They still sound MILES better than the Ibanez acoustics with fancy tops, but truly awful sound.
I have a 214ce. I love the idea of these new DLX 214 models, but $1700 seems high for a layered guitar body.

In my book the 114-ce limited sound the best !

Lutz is a hybrid between Sitka Spruce and WHITE spruce. Adirondack is RED Spruce.

Can anyone tell me what the name of that bluegrass diddy Chris plays on his demos? Is there a lesson on it on RUclips?
Lutz spruce is hybrid of Engelmann and Sitka , but interesting that the hybrid apparently is harder and stiffer that Sitka alone. I think Engelmann is hard to get these days as you don’t see it offered as standard issue anywhere.
The Yamaha L series acoustics have torrified Engelman tops. Mine is awesome, so much so that I don't play Taylors anymore. I do really like Taylors though - I had 6 and all were really great.

They all Sound the Same to me. I love the "Denim Blue", but I already have a 214 ce dlx, So I may go with a 114.
The trans grey one seemed to have a particularly good bass resonance.

Yup, dedham blue....not transparent blue. LIke the red and the grey one.
Someone called it out earlier. You guys have been promoting Taylor and Lutz spruce long enough to know Lutz is not a Red spruce and Sitka hybrid...The half Adi, half Sitka tonal description doesn't hold water.

@@oldre21 i don't know man... you might be a bit disappointed. the actual color is lighter, and its beauty is not stable at all, it really depends on the lighting which them professionals nailed on RUclips.
@@definitelynotapervert a friend of mine got one so I have seen it up close but not had any real time with it. I’m a lover of blue though so I hope I won’t be disappointed with mine. I have noticed it doesn’t look as good in some pictures for sure tho.
Ruh ROH kind of says something when "colors" are what you have to offer the people....
