This year was more crowded simply because Sao Miguel is being promoted massively by the tourism board and influencers. The island has changed a LOT since 2015. Luckily the other islands are still spared from the masses. This year I went in June and the weather was quite the same as in September 2015, except this time I did not get stuck on an island due to a massive storm like in 2015. The Azores are islands in the middle of the Atlantic so the weather changes constantly and is very hard to predict. In one day you get all kinds of weather.
