NTA, a party for OP at His house and he can kick out who he wants. People feeling entitled at an event because family is there and trying to make it about them and save money needs to stop.
May I just say, I really appreciate how these videos are presented. No sensationalized rewording of the story titles, no unrelated click-baity stock photos in the thumbnails, none of those big red arrows that other RUclipsrs seem to think is some kind of magical talisman to garner clicks. This is pretty much the only channel I visit for this kind of content, and your honest, straightforward approach both in and about the videos is a major contributor to that.
NTA.The simple fact that OP asked prior how is your life going to the cousin and she said it isn't his business, she gave up any rights to announce the gender. That was the perfect opportunity to ask OP if it was ok.Yes, OP needs to ask his mom did she know and approve it without asking him...if so then she shares part of the blame for how things ended. Because if she knew, then it was never about OP birthday it was about announcing the gender with the birthday as a pretense, and that is beyond wrong.
I do not understand why there is a gender reveal party. Does it replace the baby shower? Pray for a HEALTHY baby instead. This is more important than the gender! - coming from a healthcare professional.
@@gertiemaebourjess167 We should celebrate the good parts of life with the people we love whenever we can. Obviously not at someone else's party, but as a concept, gender reveal parties are a great reason to get together. Finding out the sex of the baby is exciting!
Remember Sunday dinners? That's when all the announcements got made in my family. And even when I was older and we didn't have regular Sunday dinners, both family and even among friends we had some regular, homey occassions where THAT was a time to make a "surprise" announcement. On a regular, homey, Sunday-dinner type day. Or Friday night pizza. (What a group of friends and I did for a while, sometimes getting fancy and homemade, other Fridays : order something, noone can cook today!) Yeah once in a while two happened at once but so rare that that made it more special! Imagine the excitement of a happy but regular and kinda mundane get-together getting special news! Way more fun than hijacking someone else's party. Or even, Please attend ANOTHER event and bring another gift because WE . HAD. SEX. 😂
All you really know is what genitals they might have anyway, and that's 100% accurate. I can't imagine having had "We think the kid has a penis" party for my son.
@@DeidresStuff Everybody's life experience is shaped by their sex. Someday, your son may be a Dad! That's worth celebrating! If you don't want to partake, no big, more cake for us. But gatekeeping parties is Karen's job.
NTA. Never make any kind of announcements at someone else's event without permission first. My cousin was going to let her kids ask my baby shower guests if they wanted to buy cookies. Kids werent even supposed to be at the shower but i made the exception for her and she rolled her eyes when my mom told her she couldnt do that. People need to be respectful of others.
So, OP can not ask how their life is doing, but it is okay for them to make a public announcement about their life at his party? A bit of a double standard. Unless, she knew her hubby would ask OP about doing the reveal, and she knew OP would say no, so she made her hubby keep quiet so she can sneak it in. That means she knew that he would be angry. Asking his mom about it would be a good idea, especially since she should have known how strained their relationships were.
NTA! You DON'T hijack someone else's event for your own purposes without their permission. Even if they had gotten permission from OP's mother (possible, though not stated) they didn't get it from OP once the party started.
Nta. I just thought it was extra off the wall that it wasn't just his party that she said she was going to what she wanted, it was his HOME. How are you going to have the audacity to tell someone what are going to do in their house 🤷♀️🤦♀️
Good thinking on the mother being involved; kinda also indicated (if she knew) she told everyone the two for one deal EXCEPT op! Basically trying to manipulate op into being okay with his “birthday party” being used for a gender reveal. Maybe OPs moms plans were really about the gender reveal, and not the birthday. I hitch would be heartbreaking for OP.
I don't know about this one. Why would OP be invited to their wedding if he kicked them out to stop her from stealing from him, and they'd never reconciled? And why would he attend? And why would his mom invite them? And why would their mutual support system not recognize how insane cousin and wife's behavior is? Something isn't right.
NTA. She tried to hijack his party just to be horrible and take his day because she was angry with him. This was a selfish decision and OP was warranted to tell her no and prevent her from doing it and then asking her to leave.
NTA: I guess birthday boy could stop her from revealing the gender of her baby. Now you can leave. Don't blame him at all stop hijacking events for your personal gain.
NTA, first she stole your money and then she tried to steal your party. Idk why you even let her come to the party to begin with. Ban her from your house permanently bro.
Absolutely NTA here, but OP's mom might be. Sounds like he and his cousin haven't been close for quite some time, so why was cousin and his wife there? And, I mean, audacity may have been on sale 2-for-1, but why would cousin and wife feel so comfortable with just walking in to do their gender reveal if it hadn't been discussed already? The number of people telling OP he's the asshole makes me wonder if OP was the only one who didn't know his party was being hijacked.
Surprise! Your birthday party is actually a gender reveal party for your cousin & his thieving wife (both whom you already kicked out of your home once).
Pregnancy is no excuse to be a jackass. Top comment is very on point

Remember when gender reveals weren't these huge unnecessary parties? If you can't afford a party, just don't have one

It would piss me off that they would be throwing confetti around my house, in addition to everything else.

First off, I don’t understand the purpose of having a whole party to pop a balloon or some crap. Second, it was OP’S BIRTHDAY. Respect that.

Nah she’s a hero 😂 this woman obviously needed to be told no in a very memorable way

NTA, even if it wasn't his birthday, it's his house. You can kick out anyone out of your own house that doesn't live there for any reason.

Pregnancy is an excuse for crying because you can’t find your craving food not for hijacking someone’s birthday party😂

Ascon 4, he didn’t have to let the balloon fly in the sky, he could have done something else with it. But other than that Op is NTA.
That would leave it open for them to pop it in front of everyone anyway. Best to let it float away since they clearly wouldn't go without popping it.
