wow.. i've been drawing all my life and perspective alwyas i find is difficult, but i have never seen someone explain it in the way you have by literally moving the camera view to show how the reference marks appear differently at different angles. That's just brilliant and helps so much! Thank You for taking the time to make your videos! :) :) :)
I struggled with drawing a person in perspective. There are many techniques on how to draw in 3 pt perspective etc but nothing simple and effective like this thanks really grateful, I have been looking for years thanks again.
I've wade through ALOT of youtube videos and these are among the best I've ever seen :D. He actually explains to you principles instead of just drawing and expecting you to follow.
You have the best character drawing videos so far in this way: clear, direct, and to the point. You started by helping us understand principles. Thank you!
Absolutely right, this is a gem. Cause most of the modern things I've seen is either something very specific ("how to draw appendix") or as broad like "go open a sculptor/medical book with all of muscles"
It does if you're a growing and talented artist like me. Drawing isn't just about getting it done quickly and 'good' and then never looking at it again, you have to take time And pay attention to detail and getting those lines placed juuuust right. Cherish work you have maybe spent even weeks on (I know I have). Art is a beautiful thing, and you should never feel ashamed of even the crappiest things you make!
T-Feather yeah, most videos I watch were made a LOOOONG time ago... Oh man, you should have seen my newest drawing... I tried this with one of my charctars, and oh, geez... It turned out hideous, but I intend to improve this drawing somehow over time!
Elizabeth Rempel I checked out ur channel. I noticed that u like a lot of pokemon. U remind me a lot of my friend. He likes pokemon n draws just like u n me ( He's better than me though). Some of his drawings he doesnt like n he gives them to me. The point that I'm trying to say is, whatever ur drawing was, I'm pretty sure others might die to draw as good as u.
I've been watching a lot of tuts over the last few years. I really wanted to say I enjoy your style and your voice, it's very nice to listen to you teach, thank you and I'm glad I found your work.
@SlashSwordDemon my red drawing (when I'm drawing clothes/details) is actually pretty messy. I try to draw rough like that until I can find the line I'm looking for; then it's a little easier to draw clean and neatly over that with pen.
I'm so glad I found this video. Thank you for the great explanation! I have been trying to think about camera angles in my artwork and this helps so much!
awesome tutorial, thank you so much!! you can really see the difference of how the angles make the drawing dynamic, seeing it next to the flat angle. love the way how you explained it.
Super helpful video! I'm just getting back into drawing and I suck at doing different angles at the moment, but that just means I need to practice more!
this definitely helped me out a ton, i ended up drawing avatar aang with the frog view sketch from this video, i'd say it was pretty successful. thanks (:
very very useful not only you show HOW it is dOne but also WHY it is dOne that way.. really appreciate it.. its what i've been missing about perspective.
This tutorial is quite helpful, since I'm mostly used to only draw in bird view perspectives. I didn't even knew that adding "horizontals" and bending them would be an easier way to confirm exact perspective in drawing the character~ Thanks very much~
I love how you reference the eye guideline as a "sad face". This is very entertaining to watch. Why couldn't you be one of my art teachers back when I was in school? lol
Never seen a Video, this simple and this amazing about perspective drawings.. The concepts are soo clear and you made it so easy for us... Amazing Video.. Thank you
@NavyBlueManga thanks! :) I'll be putting in a HUGE order for g-pens, nibs, paper, ink, soon. Can't wait. Is akadot and jetpens the best places to get supplies?
different teaching styles suit different people, and its always good to have a mixture of teachers and people to use as styles, i always keep an open mind and try to find other styles and teachers to influence what i do.
@piro632 hmmm, I'm not sure what flipping the torso upside down would look like but for a girl in this angle, some of the things I would be thinking about (mental checklist) are: 1. making the waist more narrow-- trying to get that hourglass shape of the torso 2. making the shoulders not as wide or broad. Shoulders for girls tend to be less wide and will slope down a little more. Guys' torso looks boxy if that makes sense.
Thank you again it really helps because I never get it right when it comes to top and lower views, and the way you explain it is really simple, easy to understand so thank you!
Thank you SO MUCH! I love drawing but I struggle so much to learn certain skills. You taught me this all in one fell swoop, with some AMAZING tips and tricks! THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!
This is really helpful. You make it looks so easy..Finally I can draw in perspective, It's so beautiful I felt like screaming my lungs out and running through the hallways .. Thank you ..Thank you so much for helping !
Awesome vid, would LOVE to see one doing an up shot of a character but showing us how to drawing a ceiling and the surrounding walls instead of a sky. But this was amazing!
Thank You SOOOOOO much! I am actually trying different perspectives for drawing my characters. Plus, my sister needed help to draw this perspective! YOU HELPED US SOOOOO MUCH! Thanks again!! *hugs*
:) The upshot is also used to show that the character is powerful, stronger, or used to show emotion of a developing character, like strength, bravery, confidence... Thanks for posting this!!! :DDDDDDDDD
This is very useful, I'm just learning how to draw perspective, and was looking for a good, clear introduction to it. So thanks for making the video! :)
Once again a really great tutorial. Thank you so much. Keep up the good work. Go you do backgrounds? If you do I would love to see tutorials covering backgrounds.
Wow this video,in my opinion, really is the meaning of the "How to" words on those tutorials that I've seen. Great work sir. I enjoyed and learned from it. This is what I've been looking for. Thanks a lot sir and more power! ^_^
Seriously, I'm digging these vids. No other videos show me how to use perspective in a practical way like these have. Keep up the awesome work! ^_^ Also, maybe you could do a future video on creating believable poses? My characters always look lopsided and unbalanced...
@NavyBlueManga will do! thanks dude. I use Canson paper for my drawing tutorials and like them a lot. BTW, keep up the videos. been really diggin' them :)
this is awesome, i looked at the action video demo and i was able to incorporate the idea (not the subjects) for my video game concepts, thank you so much!!
omg i've been looking for something like this for AGES!! (well maybe not ages but STILL!!) and you explained so well this method! thanks!!!!! i can finally draw from another freakin' perspective... XD
This is a VERY GOOD tutorial, I'm so glad I found it! I don't draw manga, but I guess the principles can be used on all perspective for all characters? Thank you so much for this :D
Thank you so much man, I do books and I plan to do anime right after I'm done with my plan and I'm trying to draw their bodies right and clothes are a big issue. But I was just looking around since I found your page on Google while lookin up anime poses. THank you so much, since I probably wont be able to go to an art school, i'm trying to learn myself. You gave me a new look on how to draw so thank you so much man. :) MUCH APPRECIATED!!!!
Thank you so much. This really helped me! Finally I found something concrete about how to draw manga characters in perspective. You are a life saver! :D
I just used your teachings in this video to draw a picture for my friend in this view (which i call worm's eye view) and i have to say it came out pretty good. Thank you :)
I'm watching this and it's becoming really helpful, I'm working on a piece showing some running and you can see the camera view focusing on a falling object slightly in the distance above and behind the running female character, and he's looking up at it. :P
Thank you for the tutorial about the angle view. Although may I say that when you're looking up at someone in that position, the neck from the person also goes out of view in that position too sometimes.
Also wanna add I tend to overthink measurements so perspective drawing tends to drive me crazy although I love it for a visual. Thanks so much for simplifying it for me!
@Yaddrasile thanks! About the other perspective types; I'm familiar with fisheye but haven't thought too much about how to explain it. Actually, I think it is the final one after learning about curvilinear/cylindrical if I am understanding those terms correctly. In some of the upcoming videos I'll show you guys some new things regarding perspective-- lots to talk about! :) and I'll try to make them fun to watch.
I've never found a tutorial that gives an exact, precise technique on perspective drawing. The closest thing I can find is a video like this, which is basically "eyeball it".
:D I'm glad I found Koizu. I think I still like Mark Crilley more, but Koizu is really good at explaining and making me understand things more. I really shouldn't compare them XD. But I don't want to leave Mark Crilley yet, cause he's the first artist that inspired me :)
I had literally just tried to draw a frog view two days ago. It was alright but I wanted it to look better. Thanks, you helped me become a better drawer.
great tutorial...for the first time ever I was able to draw a low angle I can't believe it ... thank you..thank you :)
glad I could help :)
can you please continue your videos ):
@@koizu jhnggub
The curving horizontal lines trick just changed my life. Thanks.
wow.. i've been drawing all my life and perspective alwyas i find is difficult, but i have never seen someone explain it in the way you have by literally moving the camera view to show how the reference marks appear differently at different angles. That's just brilliant and helps so much! Thank You for taking the time to make your videos! :) :) :)
I wonder if you'll respond to this reply to an 6 year old comment.
Pls don't be angry ;-;
I'm semi active. I'll be posting more as I do more designing of my characters for my Cheetah Polo manga.
I struggled with drawing a person in perspective. There are many techniques on how to draw in 3 pt perspective etc but nothing simple and effective like this thanks really grateful, I have been looking for years thanks again.

Sometimes drawing feels like math.
Elizabeth Rempel that's really motivational. I'm surprised u found my comment. I posted this a while ago. Thnx for that motivation.
T-Feather yeah, most videos I watch were made a LOOOONG time ago... Oh man, you should have seen my newest drawing... I tried this with one of my charctars, and oh, geez... It turned out hideous, but I intend to improve this drawing somehow over time!

Some of his drawings he doesnt like n he gives them to me. The point that I'm trying to say is, whatever ur drawing was, I'm pretty sure others might die to draw as good as u.
Elizabeth Rempel do u plan to b a huge success as a drawer making a show or something?
can't TELL you how much i've been having trouble with this perspective, Thank you for putting out this video!
I love how you structure your videos. They're like classroom lectures which is actually great! Subbed
I love how passionate and excited he is when the video is about to start. Made me smile. Thank you!
I've been watching a lot of tuts over the last few years. I really wanted to say I enjoy your style and your voice, it's very nice to listen to you teach, thank you and I'm glad I found your work.
I love how you explain views and tip in your tutorials! They really help and you make fantastic art from them! Subscribed!!
@SlashSwordDemon my red drawing (when I'm drawing clothes/details) is actually pretty messy. I try to draw rough like that until I can find the line I'm looking for; then it's a little easier to draw clean and neatly over that with pen.
You just solved what was going to be my biggest issue today in less than 20 minutes. And for that, I thank you. Can't wait to get started on this!
I'm so glad I found this video. Thank you for the great explanation! I have been trying to think about camera angles in my artwork and this helps so much!
This is probably the best Perspective explanation I've seen on youtube (as a beginner)
Literally, throughout my searching, those gigaminds seriously tell beginners to learn a medical/sculptor book💀
I've never heard of frog eye view. I've always called and heard it as worms eye view.
Great tutorial though.
awesome tutorial, thank you so much!! you can really see the difference of how the angles make the drawing dynamic, seeing it next to the flat angle. love the way how you explained it.
Super helpful video! I'm just getting back into drawing and I suck at doing different angles at the moment, but that just means I need to practice more!
hey Falconwing! Glad the video could help!
this definitely helped me out a ton, i ended up drawing avatar aang with the frog view sketch from this video, i'd say it was pretty successful. thanks (:
Dayna Shakespeare awww avatar aang wish they didn't replace him with korra
This more mathematical, geometric approach really helped clear things up. This subscription is well-earned, my good man!
thanks Teleported_Bread, welcome aboard!
@daniel9711 that's true! hahaha. ya it's pretty much my go-to hairstyle. I will change it up in my next video :D thx for subbing!
very very useful not only you show HOW it is dOne but also WHY it is dOne that way.. really appreciate it.. its what i've been missing about perspective.
This tutorial is quite helpful, since I'm mostly used to only draw in bird view perspectives. I didn't even knew that adding "horizontals" and bending them would be an easier way to confirm exact perspective in drawing the character~
Thanks very much~
@speedninja7 good idea about the music! I will try to incorporate that into future videos.
This is a gem. Finally found, thank you very much for this comprehensive explanation.
I love how you reference the eye guideline as a "sad face". This is very entertaining to watch. Why couldn't you be one of my art teachers back when I was in school? lol
GREAT VIDEO! ecxept the chin part, since the head is tilted upwards its going to appear more flat.
Grab a pencil and a paper while watching this video ..... felt like someone was teaching me!
You are a teacher! Thanks!!!!!
THIS IS WHAT I HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR... ITS SO HARD TO DRAW IN HIGH AND LOW ANGLE. THANKS ALOT!
different teaching styles suit different people, and its always good to have a mixture of teachers and people to use as styles,
i always keep an open mind and try to find other styles and teachers to influence what i do.
sure! I will add that to my list. Do you mean two knees down or one knee?
So much value in this video it is unfair it doesn't have more likes.
@piro632 hmmm, I'm not sure what flipping the torso upside down would look like but for a girl in this angle, some of the things I would be thinking about (mental checklist) are:
1. making the waist more narrow-- trying to get that hourglass shape of the torso

Thank you again it really helps because I never get it right when it comes to top and lower views, and the way you explain it is really simple, easy to understand so thank you!
dude, you should make a book about this, and other...

finally someone who does a great tutorial about perspective
thank you very much
I have learned to draw a lot faster watching your videos than all the classes ive taken haha love the videos
What I find fascinating is that many manga anatomical structures are close to real life anatomy. This is very helpful thank you!
This tutorial helped me so much to understand the perspective lines when I draw, thank you!
Thank You SOOOOOO much! I am actually trying different perspectives for drawing my characters. Plus, my sister needed help to draw this perspective! YOU HELPED US SOOOOO MUCH! Thanks again!! *hugs*
That was very good. You actually explained principles to what you're doing rather than just drawing stuff and hoping people follow.
This really helps a flat drawing pop. Thanks for the in depth yet simple explinations.
Thank you so much, Koizu! I was pretty nervous about trying this perspective but you made it simpe. Thanks for being brilliant. Rock on.
The way you demonstrate it with the camera is really helpful.
wow I began to understand perspective recently and wanted to apply it for character for so long!! :) you helped me so much! thank you!
:) The upshot is also used to show that the character is powerful, stronger, or used to show emotion of a developing character, like strength, bravery, confidence... Thanks for posting this!!! :DDDDDDDDD
Omg I love you for this now I understand this shit more! I’ve been studying art for 6 months and your vids really help a beginner like me
being a drawer is all about prespective... and that's what this guy teaches you, you're awesome !!! :D
i have been looking for this everywhere, not many people do perspectives in such details. thank you so much =] x

That was a great video for learning about perspective! I'm gonna watch all your videos now and am already subscribed! Thank you and keep it up Koizu!
Seriously, I'm digging these vids. No other videos show me how to use perspective in a practical way like these have. Keep up the awesome work! ^_^
Also, maybe you could do a future video on creating believable poses? My characters always look lopsided and unbalanced...
Amazing job at explaining this.
@NavyBlueManga will do! thanks dude. I use Canson paper for my drawing tutorials and like them a lot.
BTW, keep up the videos. been really diggin' them :)
This directly inspired me to drawing an up-shot too, your tutorials are really helpful~ thanks for uploading them ^-^
this is awesome, i looked at the action video demo and i was able to incorporate the idea (not the subjects) for my video game concepts, thank you so much!!
omg i've been looking for something like this for AGES!!

OH MY GODS FINALLY! Finally someone who was able to explain perspective to me the way that I actually understand it xD THANK YOU! Like seriously. . .
Thank you so much. This really helped me! Finally I found something concrete about how to draw manga characters in perspective. You are a life saver! :D
Thank you for posting these, You explain these drawing techniques very well.
Dude, you are an EXCELLENT teacher!
Really good teaching of perspective...👍👍👍 Your principle are really helpful and make me understand better.
This was a very nice video showing the principals of an up shot. (thanks for the reference pic btw)
"they become cruves, like sad faces... aww" that just cracks me up i don't know why, great video, it helped me a lot :D
This is absolutely amazing help! You described the principles perfectly and your visual representations were super! +1 subscriber for you!
I think this is the best vid I have ever seen in my life
I just used your teachings in this video to draw a picture for my friend in this view (which i call worm's eye view) and i have to say it came out pretty good. Thank you :)
That's really great to hear :) Glad the video has helped.
Wow, you made this so easy to understand! Especially with the beginning tower part, that was really helpful! ^_^
I'm watching this and it's becoming really helpful, I'm working on a piece showing some running and you can see the camera view focusing on a falling object slightly in the distance above and behind the running female character, and he's looking up at it. :P
It felt a little slow in the beginning, but then you picked up the pace and it got more entertaining. Certainly helpful!
this video really helped me with that angle ive struggled with that angle for months now
Thank you for the tutorial about the angle view. Although may I say that when you're looking up at someone in that position, the neck from the person also goes out of view in that position too sometimes.
Also wanna add I tend to overthink measurements so perspective drawing tends to drive me crazy although I love it for a visual. Thanks so much for simplifying it for me!
this is a very good tutorial im happy i found you haha but seriously your way of teaching suits me :D thank you again. liked, shared, and subscribed!
thanks that was helpfull been havin trouble with those prespective point of views now I feel more confident with a video that informative
@MAbildtrup Sakura Micron 08. Soon I will be getting a G-pen :D
@Yaoiloverel thanks man. I have a lot of ideas for background tutorials. They will tie in nicely with the topic of perspective.
Awe man! This will help me a lot! THANK YOU SO MUCH SENPAI!
I've never found a tutorial that gives an exact, precise technique on perspective drawing. The closest thing I can find is a video like this, which is basically "eyeball it".

I had literally just tried to draw a frog view two days ago. It was alright but I wanted it to look better. Thanks, you helped me become a better drawer.
honestly, you're better than mark crilley in teaching us to draw ... and this vid really help me a lot ...thanks a lot anyway
