The Nurmagomedov family is legendary for their wrestling skills, but Umar really impressed me with his kicking! He has the most diverse kicking game I've seen. Best of luck to him on his journey toward a future title belt!
I haven’t watched his fights before, but this is crazy seeing it the first time. Getting kicked by him must be demoralizing as hell, you don’t see it coming, you can’t react to it, and there’s always more. They’re literally faster than a lot of people punch
People underestimating merabs pressure and gas tank though. Hard to stop a guy whos pushing forward like terminator. Lots of body kicks to slow merab and maybe setup a headkick.
@ItsReplayBro o mally won round 4 and 5 cus he started kicken imo. Omar kicking is lvls above his and he trains with grappling champions with the same endurance or higher. I think and hope Omar dominates him. Imagine 3 ufc and 1 belator champions with 1 lose combined 8+ title defenses and counting. What a legacy would that be for Abdul manap and khabib
What never ceases to amaze me is the amount of punishment these guys can take. It's insane! Any normal person would fold or even die taking just one punch or kick but these guys can sometimes go five rounds soaking in so much it is truly unbelievable.
Not really. No fighter puts 100% into each shot because they now they'll have to last three rounds. Still hurts a lot. But a fighter is used to eating shots. When I fought in WAKO trials a long time ago, they gave you 1 round of two minutes to prove yourself. Kids would punch so hard they broke their own arms lol.
@@Kangaroofilet What? The guy you answered said kicking takes more stamina than punching, and you agreed with him, what is the point of posting and writing "not necessarily"?

@ΝουςΥγιής-δ4ψ Interesting take. It seems to me the Stockton slap is necessarily intentionally disrespectful, whereas this strike has tremendous utility on its own. I don't think Unar has a disrespectful bone in his body. Perhaps we can say this is the most unintentionally disrespectful strike in MMA.
That little village in Dagestan sure has made a lot of elite fighters. I forget if it was jack slack or mixedmollywhoppery talking about the absurd success of Abdulmanap's students. He made sure to acknowledge that Javier Mendez brought them up the rest of the way, but the base he provided was clearly the best in the world at the time. I wonder if it still is or if there are some special trainers out there right now building up steam on a new way to dominate mma. Hard to see these guys getting stomped, but you never know, some badass warrior cultures out there. Sure seems like Amazon jungle blood is strong. Alex Pereira and Melqui Galvao's students in grappling are proving that nicely. Probably some other mountain people out there with amazing stamina and strong leg base for wrestling. Fun to winder about the way the ecosystem molds the people and their culture over the centuries.
And what makes even a bigger problem that he's baiting his opponent with those kicks to force him to grabble , cause this is when the fun really starts , Merab is very good , but no wonder he's nervous AF , cause this is a whole different level.
he has the best stomping knee i've ever seen in the sport, the way he flicks it is just natural for him, shame he doesn't use it much he legit can be destroying careers in the octagon
"Well, the good news is your next opponent is spamming kicks too often, so we can take that as an advantage to take him down." - Every Umar's next opponent's coach
The speed is still pretty exceptional though given his kicking mechanics, especially compared to other fighters. What’s impressive is his hip dexterity and knee chambering on his kicks that allows him to land anywhere after bringing his knee up to the same position. You can see the kick coming but not know where it will land. And if you think you can just cover every target (which you can’t) all he has to do is put his foot back down and move to a side and now he has an angle.

0:32 That's not a random, Umar did that to, that's Saidyokub Kakhramonov, a super elite fighter that could very well be championship caliber in the UFC or be ranked top 5 right now
Red shorts had a good idea there to grab the kicks to the body and hook asap. But that'd be so hard with the confusing mix of super fast kicks coming your way. The straight kicks become circular but can also be straight to your face or belly. Dude is getting a golden road to the title, but he is on champ level right now so might as well. Not counting Merab out at all, hard fight for both guys.
This is such a difficult matchup. How do you beat this guy? If you say on the outside you get blasted with kicks in all areas if you go on the inside, you’re gonna go on for a ride with the wrestling
