What an incredible endeavor. This is important work. The lives of these men and women who are buried in these unmarked graves cannot be forgotten. For too long, too many people have made incredible efforts to erase these people from our history and we owe it to ourselves and our future to make sure that never happens. This is so interesting. I wonder if there is a way to help these projects?
They have to use ground radar because the thing about the mass graves at the Schools is they were secret. They can’t use the maps to show where they could be buried because no one marked their graves. Two horrible situations where lives have been cut way to short in the name of greed, inhumanity, and racism. Fortunately they have records in Louisiana, where there might be cemeteries, here in Canada they hid it all. It’ll be slow moving with the ground radar as they have to check every possible space around where the schools were but hopefully they will find the children from all the schools.

Too much Louisiana history, both planation houses, battlefields and slave cemeteries have been destroyed by outside big money who have not invested in preserving local heritage and culture. Perhaps a monumental can be dedicated to the memory of those whose unknown graves have been lost forever. I have seen similar ones to the graves under the waters of Toledo Bend Reserve and unmarked on the plains of North Dakota.
