    There is a product available at Lowe's called polymeric sand you sweep it down the cracks with a broom and then wet it with a hose. It will set your pavers. Also bags of crushed granite underneath to level them. Everything is looking so lush! I'm a huge fan of boxwood too. I have 16 of them. Eleven in large containers. They really can take the extremes of Oklahoma weather. Your video style is lovely.

    Saving and collecting allium seeds is very easy, just let the green pods turn brown before pulling them out of the ground then just shake them into a bag or baggie. Little black seeds will spill out like crazy, the bulbs under ground also expand each year so if you begin seeing less globes just dig them and divide the bulbs in the fall.

    So absolutely gorgeous. I love the roses on the bench. Now I’m thinking I have a perfect spot for something similar. I never think of putting roses in containers.
    Keeping the weeds out of the walkway is so hard. We did a dry river bed and initially made the mistake of using landscape cloth. Yuck! Now I use Preen and polymeric sand and it seems to help. My husband hits any that get through with the weed torch and it stays nice.

    All gorgeous. For the bricks, use sand and level it and stomp it down Dig the dirt first so the bricks are not so high. I did a whole pathway in my yard using this method. After 5 years they are still in place. You can also use a bit of mulch glue in the edges so the mulch does not fly around so much.

    I pulled the poppies but I wouldn’t dare be caught out there with shorts and a T as the mosquitoes already took a pint.
    Do you have mosquitoes?
    I have more original coneflowers every year because I don’t deadhead. I think I heard the coneflowers can cross pollinate. I’m curious if all flowers in the same family cross?

    • @SoilandMargaritas
      @SoilandMargaritas  3 месяца назад

      Honestly, I am not sure about coneflowers doing that as I don't have many, as far as the rest of the flowers that happens here and there I am sure.

    Allium seeds are pretty easy to collect. You’ll notice the seed heads start to get crispy and the seeds will start falling out if you pat them. (Although you get a lot more summer rain than me so I’m not sure how that will affect them) just keep an eye on them, I’m sure you’ll get them 😄

    • @SoilandMargaritas
      @SoilandMargaritas  3 месяца назад +1

      Do you start them super early indoors? I should have said in the video, I have a pretty good idea on when to collect and how to start the seeds, but I wonder if I should do that this late summer so that the plants can get a true winter... Will they bloom the first year?

    • @KatesGarden
      @KatesGarden 3 месяца назад

      @@SoilandMargaritas I can’t say I’m an expert on them. I’d be looking up when to start them as well. I don’t think they will flower in the first year. The ones that have self sown in my garden just look like grass 😅

    You are fortunate your area does not suffer from the boxwood caterpillars/moth. So many people I know have lost their entire hedge in our area of the country. 😢🇨🇦 I have also been building up my perennial collection. I find that using compost instead of mulch does decrease the earwigs populations which then eat my dahlias and any other tender leaves such as many hostas!
