Watching this I was brought back to my father’s funeral in 1991. A WWII veteran, battle of the bulge, artillery. Brought tears to my eyes. Absolutely the greatest generation. RIP Bill. Your story will never be forgotten.
I had the pleasure to have the WWII book written by William "Wild Bill" Guarnere & Edward "Babe" Heffron called "Brothers in Battle". I had the book signed by these 2 W.W. II hero authors. It is a please to see the graveyard service of William "Wild Bill" Garner. Rest in Peace to you and all of the deceased members of the Band of Brothers.

Sir William "Wild Bill" guarnere, two words "thank you" ! Thank you for your service what all you have done your sacrifice for our country. God bless you and am sure you are just next to all your brothers from the 506. Thank you!
HERO. Truly. How providential that that plane flew over as the officer was handing the American flag to Mr. Garner's son. So grateful for what he suffered during WWII for people of good will world wide and especially for D-Day, Bastogne, and the liberation of the camp. What a nightmare he lived through and with so much generosity. Men like him, and of that generation, are a rare find in the world today. Fidelium animae per misericordiam Dei requiescant in pace. @@devendavis4134 Mr. Bill Guarnere from " Band of Brothers" passed away on Saturday March 8, 2014 at the age of 90. Mr. Guarnere died of a ruptured aneurysm at Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia, PA . This is from a newspaper clipping I have that sits in the boxed metal set of Band of Brothers movie discs along with the clipping of Major Dick Winters death in January of 2011. Similar name, but not the gentleman you are thinking of.
StSgt. William Guarnere is the correct spelling of this great veterans name. A very unique personality and served along with the best of then in the best regiment "Airborne" Thank you William.
First off William "Wild Bill" Guarnere died in 2014. No way they held on to his body for a burial in 2021 (The year of this video). Secondly, the pallbearers are Navy personnel. Again, no way that Wild Bill (An Army Sergeant) would settle with letting the damn Navy bury him! He'd probably pop open that casket and shoot anyone who would try to let the Navy have the honors of burying him!
I do alot of Funerals for the American Legion... my guess is maybe the family didn't want it... it's possible.. we get requests for this or that.. and we follow that.. but not sure either...
Will someone of the family, or who posted this video, please clarify the identity of this being the Bill Guarnere of the 101st Airborne paratrooper division WWII, or another fine man ? The spelling of the last name is different, and there is navy at this funeral than army, and many are commenting and will continue to comment -- and it would be best to have some clarification. Either way though, a salute and thank you for the service of this veteran and all of our service men and women who defend our freedom. God Bless all.
