We have been to France 5 times. We love the language, the culture and the history. We have always wanted to live there. The current political climate in the US only accelerates our desire to move.
Bonjour, Marie! Which place would you recommend ? From your preference, and liking ? I liked south of France, got confused. Am thinking of going on rental first.
We are making the move from California to France in October. The hardest part is getting rid of our household possessions. My stepson is married to a French woman so he is sponsoring our stay which really helps. We have two dogs which is a challenge to bring them over and crate training them. Wish us luck!
Great video, thanks. Retired solo American Woman here, pondering this too.I've never been to France though. So i'm coming this spring to explore. Most of the reason is I don't like this country and what's happened politically. And I just have this sense that I would fit in much better in general in Europe and France just seems central to so many other countries and welcoming and beautiful. Thank you both. Might reach out to you and for a little coaching. I think the pandemic gave me a bit of agoraphobia. So I have become a hermit and a recluse. But at least I recognize it. Once I book the plane fare and Airbnb, it will be good.
What a wonderful session, Patricia and Adrian! Your insights on building the courage to move to France truly hit home. I work with expats as a French teacher, and many of them face similar fears and doubts. This kind of content helps turn those dreams into reality and gives hope that the challenges are surmountable. Merci for sharing such practical and heartfelt advice - it's a great reminder that courage grows with each step forward!
Hey ladies. I’ve been wanting to move to France since I was in elementary school. Back in the day when they taught world history. My favorite place to study was France. I have learned a little French on my own and with instructors. I can speak better than I can read or understand someone else speaking it. But I’m willing to learn. I had a plan to retire in France. I had just sold my house in Florida and was staying with a friend and I had bought airfare to go and buy a home in France and then go back to take care of everything else. But Covid hit. My flight was canceled and I lost the money as well. So I decided to move to the place of my birth, Puerto Rico. So I bought a house here that I renovated. It’s a beautiful home and I’m sort of happy here but it’s not France. I still want to be in France. My SS income isn’t bad. It’s close to the max. I don’t know if I will have enough to survive there without working. I don’t want to have to work for anyone. I would have to sell my house here after 2 years of living here. All my money went into buying and refurbishing the house. My savings gone and I depend on my monthly check. Is there hope for me yet to move to France and what would I have to do to get started. I hope you do respond to my message. Thank you very much. By the way, even though I absolutely love Paris, I am not a city guy. I love the country. Buying a little cottage in the outskirts of Bordeaux or Perpignan would be just lovely. I know I would need a car but that’s fine. If you like you can email me at hairbyhosie@me.com
My question is I want to bring my dogs. One of my dogs is a Lab pit bull mix. I've had him since he was six weeks old. He is one of the friendliest most compliant dogs you will ever meet. He's very sweet and loveable. He's my baby. My other dog is a hound/ whippet. What would I have to do to get them over there with me? I can't dream of going without them.
I’m curious about the cost of coaching. I’m married to a French guy, living in the US & have been married for a very many years. We are thinking about retiring there, but aren’t 💯% sure.
My Fear is Health Care. Actually finding a doctor. Getting seen sooner that months in the future. And being limited by where you can live because no doctors are available. You have mentioned this as well. Is this fear unfounded?
Nothing to fear about finding a doctor as long as you choose the right location. It's really no different than in the US where there are more doctors in cities than in small towns or villages.
Street crime and religious violence in France is widely reported across the world. Makes a lot of us wonder just how bad things are or if the media is doing what it normally does - exaggerating everything for clicks. Please provide some better information about the safety for normal people in Paris/Nice. And don't simply dismiss these concerns by saying "Everything's fine!" I've been considering retiring in Nice, but I'm seeing a lot of things that make me wonder if that's a good idea. Help!
Where are you reading these reports? Compared to the US crime rates are very low in France and there is very little fear of gun violence. France is the only place where I have felt completely comfortable as a single woman walking through a city at night.
France has a better quality of life. They take care of their citizens and they give you healthcare. Why wouldn’t anybody want to move to France? We want to move for all of those reasons and to get away from Donald Trump and his henchman in the USA. Because the USA will never recover from this second term of his. France has the best treaty with the USA also. There’s more reasons to move to France to move to France.

Patricia has inspired me since watching one of her first videos
Patricia, thank you. I saw your interview on International Living.
I would ❤ to leave the US, and France would be dreamy!

Patricia, how did you decide on Perpignan?

@@PattySadauskas Thank you Patty. Ok I'll let this fear go! 💖
