I was so naive into thinking that IPA only helps with British received pronounciation. I didn't realize that there are much more to it. Thank you so much. As a person that is trying to learn French, this is really something new and interesting! At the moment I find it very difficult to pronounce [ø] "Euh" sound. 😂 It sounded like a combination of [u:] and [ɜː]. Not really used to these sounds and it almost always takes so much effort to enunciate french IPA.
Bonjour! Oh yes, the [ø] can be very tricky indeed... I think one of the best methods to improve your pronunciation is shadowing. If done regularly, this method will help you work on the different sounds you're not used to pronouncing in your native language!
@@LearnToFrench Understand, Eden. How do you practice identifying the semi vowel sounds from French phrases? Say you are trying to speak French in a longer sentence. What sort of practice do you recommend apart from shadowing?
The IPA is a GOD'S SIN for dictionaries in French and Portuegese. It's practically useful to know. Due to the amount of silent letters littered in French, Portuegese isn't as guilty for that.
The 'R' (right way up) is actually a trill (different sound in IPA). The upside down R in the exercises should be how it's written in the map. There are some variations in how these letters are written but the exercises need to be consistent with the map.
Great lesson....exactly what I wanted as a beginner......also....please provide a direct link to a high-resolution picture of the IPA chart you showed.....it is now found in Google Image search and of low resolution.......love ♥
Elle prononce in (brin) au lieu de un dans brun. Le symbole phonétique international n'est pas R pour le r français, c'est cette lettre à l'envers, comme dans le bonjour de la première image.
Great lesson. Exactly what I was looking for. Thank you for making it!
excellent explanation! Thank you! I almost gave up on my French learning! You saved the day!

Why isnt the upside-down R in the alphabet, but then in the exercise word?
