i cant imagine how hard it must have been to go to the pet store, buy a mouse, and then use it to make an amv
I recommend a brown mouse from the pet store. They’re very clicky, but it’s a nice click noise. They aren’t too tacky, in fact, they’re just right. Also, get a cordless one, it’ll change your life

@@Scrunkles I use a grey one. Its not as good and trainable. And can be very stiff. But its cheaper and in the end not that bad- I mean... Once you get used to it. 😅
i would use a black mouse from the pet store, there clicky when you need them to be. cordless ones are the best!

I........... I'm actually half way done with a Believer AMV already, and it looks........ blocky, but not terrible, ig..................... BUT it's very hard, and unless you plan to really commit, I definitely don't recommend it

As a person of Upper Michigan, i can confirm there are many strange department stores here. Its very nerve racking.
Even with doing this on a mouse it’s still AMAZING. I really love the spooky almost Tim Burton atmosphere

Huh reminds me of something a snake once said...
It was really strange to hear someone talk about how hard drawing with a mouse bc I find it a lot more difficult to draw with a tablet. I think it's more of a hand eye coordination thing, using a mouse I have had years and can have better control than with my tablet that keeps changing the brush on me! So like I said seeing someone have the opposite issues was really interesting if nothing else it can help you reflect and look at what quirks you have grown accustomed to
Hm, for me, I definitely prefer drawing on my phone. It's so much easier than using a computer mouse that (for me at least) isn't very steady. I actually use my finger to draw on my phone, so I always get to choose what thickness the brush is. When I draw using my mouse, I always have to redraw certain parts because they look really s h a k y
I just wanted to be unique while the premiere was going on by commenting in the actual comment area
OH MY GOD NORTHFLOWER FINALLY SOMEONE UNDERSTANDS MY PAIN OF HAVING TO DO EVERYTHING WITH A MOUSE
I spent 12 years drawing with a computer mouse before my partner bought me a drawing tablet last summer in 2020. I can finish a basic detailed still image within approximately 3 hours, where as when I am drawing with tablet I get stuck into details and take longer time to finish. Same goes for animations. Animatics and animations have taken me usually a day to finish when it came to animating with mouse but with a tablet it takes like a week idk I am broken. /wheeze/
I actually do all my animation/art with a computer mouse! :D

Yo, possibly in Michigan did so well with the aspect of horror. It relies a lot on unease, and the weirdly musical voices fit so well with it.

I’ve been praised a lot over the years for being able to draw with a mouse and it both boggles and fascinates me how hard everyone else finds it.
frfr!! i dont use it anymore because i got a tablet and it stinks of cat litter in my office, but i used to always use my computer and i was somewhat good! it was easy for me.
I dont have an issue within consistent line weight in my animations because I actually like the look it has with the line art looking different and stuff

Super late me AS ALWAYYYSSS but I wanted to give my two cents here
Watching artists with huge followings try out new ways of drawing, such as drawing with a mouse or trackpad, always really interests me. As someone who draws with a mouse, it's always super nice when people try out my way of drawing and it just makes me feel all cool :) It's nice to see you going out of your comfort zone (even if you did draw with a mouse for 2 years prior to this) with this and STILL making something oh so pretty and aesthetically pleasing. Well done!!! Hope you do more of these in the future

Tbh, I think the style changing helps create the atmosphere of Bluestar's mind going in different directions.
How can you make an animation that good with a MOUSE??? I can't even draw a single picture that's worthy enough to be seen. Respect.
If I might add. A good representation of animating with a mouse would be One2Much. They animate and draw with a mouse (sometimes a stylus) but I'd say they are a good example of what North was talking about.
I loved this AMV north, very easy to understand was was happening and overall loved the way you did the background and character design
seriously, this style and scene progression is amazing and fits so well with the song. Maybe I just love unhinged sketches and styles, but this is really good and you barely notice or even consider that it could have been made with a mouse. Look, I know you've been working with a mouse for a decent amount of time in the past, but how on Earth do you make it look so damn good whilst not killing your hand? Maybe it's just the surface I have the mouse on.

The style changes reflect Bluestar's mental state at the time in the video. I know that this was unintentional but it works and it in a way give a reason for the style change.

I have been doing art style challenges before, but it's really hard to find enough suitable styles for them :') I'll be doing another one in April so then my grand total will be 14 art styles
I just finished forest of secrets and it's kinda funny seeing a new animation about that scene in the book. looks really good, love the sketchy look.
I REALLY like this AMV. I especially like how she kinda freaks out when Fireheart enters her den and hurts him on accident

I use a computer that can be folded into a tablet and that really helps me when I’m messing around, but same, before I hit that convertible thing, I was using a mouse and just my fingers on my phone, and it feels easier with a tablet, but u can adjust to anything with enough time and practice. I really loved that amv, it was worth all the stream watching and struggle NorthFlOWO, hope u had fun with it

Here's a tip if you animate with a mouse again: Some brushes have a setting that you can change that makes a bit of a fade/decrease on the end of the brush. (Making the brush size decrease is better then fade (in my opinion) btw.)

I took a break from working on my own amv to watch this and realized you draw better with a mouse than I do with a tablet
I didn't even have my own computer when I was younger so I didn't get to use the mouse too much and after a few times of mouse drawings I hopped onto drawing tablets... but boy are my hands shaky, and my drawings all choppy...
I was a finger artist since 2014... what do I expect from my hands when all I can do is use my fingers.
