you are a very nice dentist ,you have a assistant for 20 years that mean you have a good team .some dentist don't treat the assistant well, thank for video
I've been assisting for nearly 15 years. This video is super informative and the doc seems like he has a great personality and works well with his staff! Go doc! Great video!
FINALLY...A video on the perfect impressions!!! This Dr. was awesome. He talked at a very slow pace so I could write notes. He had a great sense of bedside manner and looked relaxed and comfortable. I really appreciated examples of terminology to discuss differences on the fast and reg set alginate. My office insists on using a fast set, and when we have new employees, on top of them taking on the challenge itself they are faced with just getting it in there. We redo alot of impressions. great v
I'm a dental assisting student, and we were instructed to watch this video before class this coming week. I can see why, Dr is a good teacher and seems to be a great Dentist.
Very well done. Thanks. 2 minor observations: I would have not worn a wristwatch and I would have used a firm, linear movement along the long teeth axis to remove the trays, with no wiggling at the back to avoid deformations.
A very detailed clear precisely explanation and demonstrations of taking alginate impression ! Thank you so much for uploading this. Very much appreciated :)
I am a recently graduated Dental Assistant. I want to say thank you very much for sharing with us your 8 techniques to a beautiful alginate impressions video. I was always nervous about taking impressions in college. With this video I feel very confident and sure that I will start taking the best alginate impressions once I begin to work in a Dental office. Thank you Dr Cassidy.
From a UK technicians point of view, very good video and wish more surgeons could take the time to get a good impression. It's so difficult to construct a decent crown, denture, any appliance with a poor impression. Technicians can only work with what they've been given by the surgeon. Thank you for this video.
Its thanks to a great great dental assistant on this very day, I was able to go through Dental impressions perfectly no gagging, NO respiratory distress, NO DESAT, or High Co2. I cannot tell you how nice it was NOT gagging. This was my 4th round with the Impression tray today, and all three times due to my airways being very small I had distress, TODAY, It was perfect. I mean, when It was over an I realized IT WAS OVER, NO GAGGING, ONLY GOOD STUFF, I ALMOST FAINTED. NOT KIDDING EITHER.
Posterior 1/3rd of the tongue is taste by cranial nerve 9. gag reflex is cranial nerves 9 and 10 against the oropharynx on the back against the oropharyngeal wall.
Good video Doc, you have excellent rhetoric's skills. I think that is easy to give your opinion about some details during the procedure, but not every body does videos and you did it !!! Every dentist has her/his own way to do it. The important thing is to get a nice impression. Thanks !!! Colombo-Canadian Dentist from Bogotá, Colombia South America.

Thank you Dr. for the video, at our office we take impressions a lot and I'm mainly taking the alginate ones for orthodontic appliances. My impressions are pretty good but with this video I learned that applying alginate on the occlusal surface help with the bubbles (some times I have some) Thanks again for taking the time in making this video to help us been better.
I wish I would've seen this before. I'm a begginer and my teacher didn't specify what kind of trays we were going to need, so i bought the ones with the little holes. My class is tomorrow and this helped me a lot.
Some tips were good, issues I have are with the storage of the alginate. Alginate will absorb that wet towel water that was placed on it in a process called imbibition. You need to put it in a bag with a damp towel next to it, so that it's 100% humidity. Alginate is only accurate for
May I piont out... your gloves that touch the faucet handle and the last paper towel that also touches it re//or cross contaminate the molds? Or... is that an issue?
Hey Doc, Gerry Cuomo from Florida. Thanks for making this video. I will pass it onto my predental students at FAU. Let us know if you are recording any more videos in the future. Good going. GC
Love this hints but I wonder, isn't there a big problem with the rim lock tray? Such as the Impression got separated from the tray during the take out proccess by just holding the tray handle. Or did he use some alginate adhesive on the tray? Any clue?
Nice alginate impression tutorial ! Many thanks ! I still use the chromatic alginate from Zhermack, with fairly ok results (no alginator). I only have one objection and that is about the mirror on the pacient's shoulder. The others were commented by colleagues previously.
I dont know how many of you noticed but the doc dint show the impression by zooming in and if any1 observed that lower left molar wasnt recorded becos the extension of the tray wasnt proper.having said that i have never seen a better video on impression taking be4 this with detailed explanation.kudos!
Beautiful Impression!! Thank you so much for this I'll keep practicing, but I was concerned about the faucet not having a foot or electronic control to turn the water on and off.. Using a papertowl to turn it on and off as well. Overall, cannot complain I learned so much!! once again thank you
It can affect the lab stone that you use pouring up the impression and the excess moisture will make the stone model weaker because the lab stone has a precise water/powder ratio requirement also like the alginate .
i have an exam tom, where i should make a primary impression, they give us 10 min to pick the tray size we're going to use and then we have two tries to make the perfect impression, hope this vid helps me tom
thanks so much for your video! i can't wait to try this on my partner at school!! as far as the cross contamination goes for the person below worrying about it....the only people that should be touching those things should be wearing gloves anyway.
only one thing i do not agree to.. that is wrapping the alginate in a wet towel that will cause the alginate to absorb water and distort. alginate has a good memory. since there is an expert assistant i would recommend the cast to be poured immediately...very helpful video for a new dentist though
hola buenos días. muchas gracias por dar sus conocimientos lo que necesito saber que coloca alrededor d ela cubeta esi es para proteger al paciente pero no lo conozco gracias.
thank you very much I think that your patient was in reclined position which is very important to avoid ingestion or aspiration of deattached small pieces of alginate right?

I'm in DA school and I learned more about impressions from your video then I did from school. THANK YOU!!!
All these tips are helpful, especially the relaxed aspect which is useful in every factor in a good clinician.

The eight keys! Love the 22 minute long version of alginate impressions...the hell you say! Funny dialect to me.

You are a simple person , I think I learned something good from you , Thanks .

Great video Dr. Cassidy! I hope you can post many more videos. As a dental student I really appreciate the way you explain and show it to us.
Determination, communication, and verification I love that:)

Very informative. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and experience with alginate impressions, Dr. Cassidy. Cheers!!!
I love this doctor ! And thank you for this video it was very informative
step often not paid attention to,explained very nicely.
thank you for the delivering comfort to this procedure. i am a person who does not like taking alginate impression. very bad gag reflex.
Thank you Dr Jimmy Cassidy.....
also the patient's head should be facing down while taking the upper impression to reduce gag reflex.
its awesome video..........nice job DR.JIMMY CASSIDY
thanks dr.Jimmy.. this video helped me a lot..
That was very helpful thanks.
the mouth mirror was a nice tip i might start using it when it comes to take impressions to retract the cheek
This was extremely helpful video. Well done😎
Great video, I’ve learned so much.
May I piont out... your gloves that touch the faucet handle and the last paper towel that also touches it re//or cross contaminate the molds? Or... is that an issue?

Great observation, but he mentions that he is not using a perforated tray, in that case you do not have to lean the patients head forward! :D
Very nice!
his hands are huge!
Ruby 😂😂 I can't unsee this now
you know what else is huge... his feet
Miatna Moto 👏😂
So helpful thank you!!!

Please make more videos. I would like to see you do more advanced impressions- like for crown and bridge Final impressions...
thank you!

Thanks doc!
Thank youuuuu . You are awosome
Mirror technique, very useful
Ich finde es auch super wichtig, vor und während der Abformung mit Alginat eine Lupenbrille zu tragen :-)
@becakmayat ive used those trays, and the alginate "sticks" to it really good, i haven't any problem with that
i have an exam tom, where i should make a primary impression, they give us 10 min to pick the tray size we're going to use and then we have two tries to make the perfect impression, hope this vid helps me tom
Thanks from Egypt
perforated trays help in the retention of the alginate material. how would a rim lock try do that? I don't understand. Very informative video.
Retention due to wax on the edges of tray.
Always apply alginate adhesive to the dry tray after try-in.
Very helpful.. Thanks!!
Thanks for this video.
Thanks so much🌸🌸🌸
well spraying the impression with chx for 2secs than washing it off again won't do much anyway...
Future dental assistant here. I would love to work for this office. Lol hes a better teacher than mine.
thanx DR.
good video!

At first i didn't like taking impressions, but all it took was a lot of practice to finally get it done right! :)

I wish our school would buy metal trays instead of the crappy disposable ones. >.
Thank you very much
you're very helpful
I appreciate your effort
