- Could this be the worst fry up breakfast ? or is it me? Take a look to see if this could be your best or worst breakfast. with all good intentions I wanted it to be off the charts - however, this could be one of the worst.

Not really. If you’re looking at the same breakfast a few years ago, then yes. But these shop owners are paying significantly higher wages, costs of ingredients, utility bills, business rates, rent etc etc.
A basic mark up model would see restaurants tripling their costs, which means that they have to create that dish using ingredients totalling £5.
@@CookingwithChefDai behave, you’ve got “chef” in your username, if that’s true you know there’s about 2 quids worth of produce there.
Also if you’ve ever been to Kings Cross, which I regularly do. You would know there’s a hell of a lot more cafes with a better breakfast than that for a lot less money.
@@Ed___1234 cafes maybe selling for cheaper in that area, but they’re probably the same owners that work their nuts off for not much in return.

The older I get the less tolerance I have for paying for something I'm not happy with.

I'm totally with you on this review DJ, snotty eggs are a definite no no for me. As for service charge its daylight robbery as I bet half the places don't give it to the staff ☹️

They wanted to charge over 50% more for adding a tea and service charge!! What a rip off!. The extra sausage was a replacement for the tomato, so he paid £6.10 for bubble and squeak and tea.

'bubble' must be brown & crispy (then do it again !),
until there's a never ending sop for the egg !.
It should have been bacon, eggs, beans, sausages, tomatoes, fried bread, (not bloody toast) and mushrooms. You can keep the black pudding, I don't want pigs' blood and guts.
I used to use that cafe a few years ago, dont remeber it being that steep and alway got a decent fry up
DJ try the airport cafe at sellindge neat Ashford. Just near port lymph . Proper food and plenty of room . Outside seating and plenty of bikers visit it.
Good service is a pre requisite. The style of those eggs is perfect for me, I like them baveuse. The issue I have is the broken egg (no biggy) and placing wet beans on top of crispy items. That's quite sloppy. £15-£20 for breakfast is fine, but it comes with expectation. It has to be a killer breakfast and that looked average across all items. Sausages looked decent. Bread looked decent. Bacon may have been OK. Together it just didn't look appetising though. For that money there's alot of choice and much better places to go. Great video as always. Yep,V expensive, but eggs is eggs it's all personal preference.
Not just the eggs
Snotty eggs are an absolute NO NO. I love mushrooms, but they go cold too quickly, I don't bother with them anymore. Bubble is potato and cabbage...Onion? £23.10 for THAT!!!!. Are they having a laugh!!!
£15 ? For that portion £8 tops !!
Unbelievable. A chef who can't cook eggs, who can't plate up, who breaks an egg, who screws up the bubble.
I call them cooks - chefs know what they are doing

I don't mind sunny-side up eggs but they looked quite undercooked to me. No excuse to for the chef to plate up when all they needed to do was splash some more oil on the yolks for another 30 seconds or so.

Sunny side but splash the oil until the yolk begins to turn white then dish asap
£23 for slap dash on plate & snotty eggs, cook must of got out wrong side bed & customer got the end of it 😂
I like my sunnysides nice and runny, great for the toast. I would have given a positive review. How were the ordering instructions for the eggs ?
Venue looks nice.
If eggs aren't done as I've requested.....which is well cooked....then I'll ask for them to be cooked fresh again, which they should do quickly for you. especially for that price.
Two sausages should be included in the Full English ...I think.

Yuk. Those beans looked cheap/watery/nasty. Eggs 😢. Shame but theres gonna be a ‘ rogue meal’ now and again im sure. Its the way the cookie crumbles 😮

A couple of observations.
The eggs were not glazed, I like sunny side up as long as they put some hot oil over them.
Whoever plated the breakfast threw the food at the plate from about 10 feet away. A bit like the waitress who also threw it at the table.
Never heard you use the word 'Okay' as much. Pretty much somed it up.
Tried to be as polite as possible

I really like my eggs like that..... but the deal breaker for me was the beans slopped on top of everything making the hash brown and bubble all soggy. Great review DJ and I wish you didn't have to pay for that :( Hope you went for a good brekky after that!
I'm with you on eggs with slimy bits - very unappealing to the eye and the taste - doesn't a 'hat' over the eggs during cooking help with this problem - I know its much easier in the domestic kitchen - but surely a business should know this trick. Shame it wasn't up to scratch - next time maybe? That price - really? - scarcely with a tenner all in - good lord.
Horrible , bubble and hash browns don't belong on a full English and there were no tomatoes or black pudding ?

Poor presentation undercooked eggs bubble not great Poor value for money. Will give it a miss. Great vlog and thanks for sharing. If not cooked properly send it back.
Full English £15 but a Half English with half the items not half the price at a ridiculous £11 for 6 items not 12

I was underwhelmed by your breakfast - a broken yoke was a bad start and the rest, it looked like it had been flung at the plate.🤔23 quid for that was a bit rich, even if the eggs were alright.😮💨
Good Heavens, thats very expensive, even for London. It's a Cafe, not Claridges. I agree about snotty eggs, just lack of care. I admire the honesty.
Dazza the last time I was in this cafe it was 2007 and Iv never been back lol but I do think airline cafe across from the ibis is still the worst cafe in London 😂 the fox bar used to do a decent breakfast near there 👍

Presentation your right, broken egg and overloaded beans everywhere, hate it when they serve up like that and think it’s acceptable no matter the price mate.
You really picky over the constituency of the fried eggs- perhaps their normal chef had just gone on holiday?
Consistency? It was not cooked and the owner/manager plated it up. So yes, every right to be picky

I like a turned egg in a toasted sandwich but sunnyside in a full EB just cover the pan to cook the top of the egg, simple 🙂
Daylight robbery Darren….!😢 The bill hurts less if it’s decent, but that was a shocker…. Even though the sausages looked O.K. they were pretty small I thought…? Eggs uncooked, beans slathered over the bubble, no Tommy’s…. and £23 quid…. Ouch! It’s a big “No thanks” from me…
£23.10..I'd have been on my way. That's over 1000 Thai baht for a breakfast which wasn't that good ☹️
I usually pay about 200 Baht ( £4.50) for a full breakfast which is very good..you'll see that when you come over here.Maybe stick to sausage rolls from there in future..
First look at those eggs made me think yuk straight away. I understand why you did not complain about the eggs as they should have been cooked properly in the first place.
Disgraceful, surely the Chef could have seen the eggs were “snotty” , it was very clear to see. To have to pay that price for a mediocre breakfast is bad enough without the disastrous attempt to cook a simple egg so I use the term chef very loosely.
DJ, that really did not look good. The presentation was awful; why serve up eggs that were snotty but with busted yolks. Very unprofessional. I have just enjoyed a Monday evening supper of proper bubble, cold beef rib and pickles. Off the charts!

In my opinion mate, that whole plate apart from the bangers looked pony. Then you say it was £23, that's an insult to a person's intelligence despite them knocking a couple of quid off for mistakes.
I'm like you, I'm not sending it back to have the eggs flipped while the rest of my breakfast gets cold, also it always looks crap after they've done it. It should be right first time, especially when they're charging more than a score for a fried breakfast. I'm also with you that onions have no place in bubble, spuds, cabbage, sprouts and maybe even a bit of roast parsnip if it's left over from the sunday roast, but deffo no onions or even carrots should ever be involved.

In London next Monday. Where can I get a good 'bubble'? Don't care about the meat side as I'm a veggie. Watching you, I feel I need a bit of bubble.
I like eggs sunny side up and with the yolk runny but not that kind of runny. That's a big turn-off. I'm not into bubble and consider hash browns to be an American abomination so wouldn't order them. But the bangers looked bang-on, the beans OK and the toast fine. And you said the cuppa hit the spot. But 23 nicker? That equates to $46 in Kiwi money and I'd die before I forked over that kind of dough for a brekkie, even a first-rate one. It was a big plate load but I wouldn't have paid more than a tenner for it minus the bubble and American muck. So it wasn't off the charts but I wouldn't think it was one of the worst ever. Interesting video.

Thats a shame you didn't overly enjoy DJ. Its not very often you say that as you always look for the positives. Very expensive to be disappoonted and i can't believe they even have a service charge in the first place. Crazy mate.

Criticism is important, how people develop. The presentation was absolutely shocking no care was taken there.
Agreed this is normally a reliable cafe. A shame they let you down and I would be the same it would put me off to.

Fooled me thought you would have gone for the catering sausage what i hear you say. But the breakfast did look poor and the sausage looked rather small. £23 even London prices that is steep. Get out on the bike to the roadside cafe's when the weather get's better.
I'd not pay more than £7 for that mush. On a plate. Like for the price your paying I'd wanna see better lookin food and better presentation
Bogey eggs are not acceptable 🤮 that is the trouble when eggs are cooked on a griddle rather than in a pan where you can flick oil over them to make sure the yolk and white are more set. Plus that baked bean swamp almost over everything ! Tomatoes would have been better but they bill it out with beans, but I never have beans with a brekkie. I love bubble, but that didn’t sound great. What a disappointment and not cheap at all !

I think although I can see the point when reviewers take them as they come, at the end of the day, mistakes can happen , so if something isn't to your liking or there is an issue send it back and factor the reaction into the review. In my experience I often think how an establishment deals with problems or complaints can speak volumes. Otherwise you sort of have an unrepresentative review if you judge just on one review and one thing is wrong.
Me and my dad had a small breakfast i had coffee my dod had coke under £15 tealy nice aswell thats a crime £25 they should be wearing masks bandidts

You could see how disappointed you were with that breakfast. It's not hard to cook a decent breakfast (and I am not a chef). For those eggs to be served by someone who cooks for a living is poor at best
Better to point the camera at the food. Just a suggestion. Eggs should have a light film over them.

Shame the eggs and bubble let the breakfast down, those eggs did not look cooked at all and onion definitely does not belong in bubble. I agree re the presentation it looked almost slopped on.

There is no reason for the Sunnyside eggs to be runny, it only requires a tablespoon to ladle the oil on the egg for a few seconds.
You should not care how good the places you go to are mate, some people love watching the bad reviews as much as the good ones. In fact there is a whole genre out there for bad reviews and bad places to eat.

I don't paying extra for quality, but the local greasy spoon near me can do better for a third of the price.
