      What’s up w ur wisdom teeth? I’m 20 n mine r impacted but I’m keeping em. I get food in them everytime I eat so I always keep a lil piece of plastic in my pocket to clean em but long as I keep doing that and spend a lil extra time w em brushing I’m fine right? Ik if I skip a day my breath gets bad from collagen but that jus motivates me more to brush lmao

    Lip ties can also make breastfeeding a lot harder if they’re too prominent so getting it lasered off is something parents do and it’s what we did with my two month old son. He wasn’t latching at all and was sucking down a whole bunch of air. After the procedure he’s been so much better

    SO glad you brought up the fact that people should leave it alone unless pain or speech issues arise! I'm a Speech Pathologist and we always recommend the same thing because there's a big stigma that every lip tie will cause speech or feeding issues. Unless there's genuine cause for concern (pain, difficulty feeding, unclear speech), it can be left alone!

  • @Tealaful
    @Tealaful 11 месяцев назад +102

    I'm glad that lip ties are being brought up so light can be shed on this. A lot of people actually have these ties and a tongue tie is another often ignored issue that causes a slurred speech and other muscle issues in the neck and hunch back or neck tightness and upper back tightness. I've had a tongue tie my entire life and had no idea until recently. My speech is affected and I wish my mom got it cut when I was younger. I've watched videos of people getting their tongue tie or lip tie removed and they had a better life improvement in so many areas that you wouldn't think were related to the tongue. Also, my lip tie has caused gum receding, so yes, don't ignore these things because your children might be in trouble by the time they are adults and figure it out for themselves or can afford to remove it themselves.

    • @venus-os3ls
      @venus-os3ls 10 месяцев назад +1

    One of my mom's jobs is actually to help babies who have severe lip or tongue ties or babies who are recovering from having their ties released (basically, surgically cut, usually with a laser). For babies, if the tongue or lip tie is bad enough, it can make nursing really difficult to the point where the baby is starving because they're unable to achieve the suction required to feed themselves.
    But grown up babies can have lip ties too lol. I was one of those people and I got mine released just last year I think and it helped a lot with my tongue thrust and tension issues in my neck and shoulders.
    cool stuff imo :>

He says too many dentists are quick to jump the gun and get the procedure done, and he says there's no reason to unless he's not gaining weight, for example (it causes difficulty eating.)

    I just had my son's tongue tie released. He was having issues with feeding. He also has a lip tie that is actually a little bit worse than the tongue tie, but I think tooth gaps are really cute and opted not to have his lip done. I'm glad after seeing this that I didn't do his lip! 😊 (Hes 7 motnhs. I tried everything else to improve his gas and feeding issues without doing 'surgery'.) his tongue took 2 days to heal and he only cried for like maybe 2 minutes total during the local anesthesia and actual procedure.

    Every video I see from you explains why my mouth is the way it is. I get that's the point, but I would have never noticed before.

    That's a literal baby, he'll be fine. It doesn't look unhealthy or concerning.

    I wish I would’ve seen this before getting my son’s lip tie released 😭😭.
    The dentist also instructed me to do “stretches” to keep it from reforming but my son screamed whenever I tried the exercises. When we went back for the checkup, I just pretended we did them and the dentist and his feeding therapist both said it healed nicely lol.

    I work in a pediatric dental office and we take a conservative approach to a low maxillary or mandibular frenum or lingual frenum. Unless speech or feeding issues are present or there are some which are extremely severe which need lasering. Usually a toddler will bump it and it will tear on its own.

    My lip tie got ripped off by a 80 mph baseball and a tooth and a half got knocked out and I felt nothing bc of how numb I was, only shed one tear.😊

    Frenulum also tears naturally through minor injuries like falls. My daughter’s tore when she crawled to fast and face planted the rug.

    My daughter was born with an upper lip tie and had it cut at 2 years old, which was the time her maxillofacial surgeon suggested. It was also around that time she started showing signs of pain because of it. It made breastfeeding a nightmare for both of us and I was it was cut earlier.

    It doesn't get fibrous tissue or reattach again if the dr teaches mom/ dad how to do the lip massages. My 18 month old had to have his removed back in May due to a very bad tear after a fall. He never latched as a newborn and sometimes I wish I had done it sooner after 1 week he had a checkup with the dentist who said I had done a great job at stretching and massaging the lip as demonstrated and it was already almost fully healed. Had to continue the massages and lip stretches 4x a day for 3 more weeks afterwards but it was all worth it and healed in about 2 weeks fully closing. He was a stage 4 upper lip tie which is the worst stage & his tooth gap is already slowly closing up after several months.

    Lol my sister helped me out with my lip-tie. We were young, she said she didn't want to play horse anymore and my two year old, dictator, self decided that wasn't an option. I jumped on her back and she leaned forward to get me off her. I landed, mouth first on the floor. My lip-tie ripped, I got a bloody nose, and my sister got an ass whooping. We've lived happily ever after ever since lolol
