  • Tube flies are incredibly popular for salmon and sea trout flies all-over Scandinavia, but are also gaining attention in the rest of the world. The possibility of replacing the hook if it is damaged without the entire fly having to be discarded is one of the great advantages of the tubefly, but also that the hook will seperate from the fly while fighting a fish and the fish cannot use the length of the fly to wriggle free as with an ex . traditional styled tied fly, has made this fly type very effective and popular. The Scandinavian style of tying tube flies with several different wings, lengths and stiffnesses in the different materials as well as the full body is best demonstrated here by the skilled fly tyer and fly fisherman Casper Hansen who in this video shows one of the most popular Swedish salmon flies in recent times , namely Den Vanlige or The Usual, a fly that has countless beautiful catches on the conscience.

Would be great to find a video how to connect the hook to the fly due to yor explanation?
So it would be clear enough.)

Nice! This fly is also good for summer and autumn conditions?

Thanks 🙂 It is one of the most popular patterns in sweden, it matches the color of the water in many rivers in sweden due to the slightly colored water in the rivers flowing through the big forests. But I know it works excellent in clear low summer-rivers 🙂

Hi Casper, What a nice video with a good explanation. I have a question about this fly. What is the size of this fly (from head to tail). I then get a better feeling with the construction of the wing parts.

Hi Ton :-) The lenght of the tube is app. 2 cm, and the main wing is around 8 cm with tips reaching to 9 cm. Hope it is usefull 🙂
