I’m 85 years old and I’m trying to keep up with all of the technology of using my iPad and watching your video is great for me you talk slowly and I can follow what you are talking about although I’m Australian. Nearly every time I’m watching someone telling you how to do something they talk 50 miles an hour and click on things so fast I miss it all they don’t realise that it’s us oldies that is trying to learn how to do something new we can’t keep up so the next thing we switch off and don’t learn anything. Cheers Doug.
Thanks for all these great CLASSES for iPad/iPhone. Learning so much after many years of using!! How can I delete youtube segments that I no longer have to refer back to?
Teach how a person actually learns. Hands on, listening, repetition? I like watch one, observe one do one. Instructions are often discouraging for seniors.
I communicate with Gary (Everyday Dad) on Twitter. He's awesome! He's helped me with camera gear and such. Yes, "handoff" is a great feature. I'll put it on the list of upcoming videos. Thanks for watching Steve!
My old friends are afraid adding an app will slow down their devices to much. These people delete all emails daily even the attachments they request. They delete with out viewing. Then ask me to sent again, repeating deleting without opening. Can you help? NOTE: my friend background was computer science.
Hello great video. I don’t know if you can I help me. I have a problem with RUclips on my iPhone he don’t do notification sounds on vibration when notification comes up. I already have on the sound and vibration on the settings app and in on the iPhone notification settings. Can you help me?
Rich I've been watching you for a long time I'm fortunate enough and I bought computers in my lifetime I'm watching you I always learn something I'm 82 years old and I can navigate pretty well around the computer I go up to the senior center and I tell everybody about your videos you do a great job you go slow enough and yet fast enough not to be boring I love your videos great job keep up the good work I always brag about you whenever I go up to the senior center and I'm able to teach them a little again thank you for great videos
Thanks so much. There is quite a bit of effort required to create these videos and it's so encouraging to get a comment like yours. I really do want to help seniors get the most out of their Apple gear. I'm not always sure if I do a good job but I'm getting better at it!
No way to turn off the background music. I get a lot of comments from people liking the background music to folks hating it. I think I need to lose the music for future videos and see if that helps. I'm slowly learning how to make these videos. It's a right fair amount of work and I really want then to be helpful - not annoying! Thanks so much for watching.
Hi John! RUclips has changed a lot since I made this video. Now they have all this Shorts mess that keeps popping up. As soon as I learn something and make a video about it, RUclips changes the layout. But I appreciate you watching!
Is there a way to limit the oldest date on a search? Sometimes videos made a couple of years ago-how to use a particular software program or device-have become outdated. Thanks.
RUclips's search result filtering is pretty rudimentary. When you search for something on the RUclips app, tap on the 3 vertical dots that are right next to the search bar and tap on "Search filters". Go to the "Upload date" section and choose what to filter by. It is pretty limited though.
That's great, John. So glad these videos are helpful. Sometimes there's only one thing you get out of a video, but even so, it's still worth a few minutes to watch.
I've been watching these and using them as a resource for our senior living facility to teach tech classes. I was curious what you use to view your desk to show the screens? I've been screen mirroring but it really doesn't have the same effect. What type of camera/software? I want to do the same for my Zoom sessions.
On this video I used an iPhone as an overhead camera. But my next video I'll be using a Lumix S5 for the overhead shot. The focus is nearly perfect. If you catch the next video you'll see what I mean. Plus I'm shooting in 4k. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching!
These videos are really good and I am learning things. There is one thing I have a problem with on RUclips. I often cannot find my comments. Have you any explanation as to why comments seem to disappear. Sometimes an answer to one of my comments appears on my Lock Screen and I have no idea what it was I said that they are agreeing or disagreeing with
Thank you for your great video, i love my iPad Pro and your advice too. A big hello from Belgium. I leave in Chaumont Gistoux 25km from Brussels. Have a great day :-)
I am only in my 40s, but usually use RUclips on my desktop. In the app I don’t want have to swipe down then click the x to close the video. Shouldn’t there be a way to close it with a single step? I really dislike the little floating window player. I have been using computers since I was 7 and it seems like mobile apps are very unintuitive.
Honestly, you'd think there would be another way. But as far as I can tell, that's the way RUclips set it up. To have to swipe and then get a floating window...what? and then hit the "x". I don't know...I encourage RUclips to rethink that process. Thanks for the comment and thanks for watching.
Enjoying your videos and they are very helpful for this senior! Question: After you subscribe to a Utube channel, the name appears when I hit the subscription button on the bottom of the screen. For example, “Rich Bowlin” now appears on my list. It would be super helpful if I could add a description to remind me when I go to my list. If I could add “iPhone for seniors” or something similar after “Rich Bowlin” it would help me remember what channel I want to go to. Is this possible?
We think alike! It sure would be helpful to add a small note to understand what a RUclips channel is about. But RUclips doesn't allow that. There was a time when you could put subscribed channels into folders and name the folder, but that feature was removed too! Anyway, thanks so much for watching!
Just found you a month ago! Going to buy myself an iPad for my birthday. Watching all your videos so I know what I’m doing! I’ve never messed with explore button on my phone, or changed volume the way you showed. Thanks!!!
I will add something - In case you want to increase the speed or decrease you can do it ! Fast forward and back the video by double tapping on right side and double tapping on the left !
I learned today: 1. how to used the library:history function to find already viewed RUclips video. 2. And, using the control panel to control volume , brightness, etc. They are both handy tools to know. Thanks!
Another tutorial by an expert, but.... does not know how to explain it to the people he advertises the program to. Move your hands faster, scroll around quicker, I was lost in the very beginning with "just go to the app store". It is difficult to teach, you can not do this off the cuff. It becomes very frustrating. I (and I am sure many others) want to learn, but finding a good balanced and planned process is in it self frustrating. This particular clip is really for people that sort of know, but not sure, and kind of, yadda yadda. Hopefully some of your other sessions will be more helpful. So....please slow down, we already know you are an expert, try to think like a beginner.
I'm sorry this wasn't very helpful. I really do try to pace things properly. Every video is scripted and I practice before I film. Sometimes I guess I don't do a very good job. I also try to edit the videos so there's not a lot of jumping around. Hopefully I'll get better as I make more videos. Thanks for watching.
Try watching the video again and again. I'm 76 and I'm not interested in thinking like a beginner again. Someone just coined this phrase not long ago, "I can only explain it to you, I can't understand it for you. I'm watching the video again Eddie.
Thanks Rick! I needed this. My daughter has her RUclips video, and I now know how to find the ones I’ve watched! Sometime you should show us how to add a playlist and how to choose where you want to save the video.
I If you ever update this video, you should cover how to save a video to your library and put it in its own topic or folder. One other helpful step for seniors or anybody that’s trying to learn something is to show them how to find the transcript for the video if there is one, this allows you to go to the section that you want to review. I even make a screen recording of that section, which puts in you photo library. You can learn so much on RUclips, I enjoy your videos.

What do you mean by deleting youtube segments? I'm not sure what you mean by that.
They are not in the list of subscriptions but pop up if you are on all Chanel’s.
Do u have the video for to see description box I don’t see the arrow on RUclips

Do you use google.? My email is from google. Not sure what to do. Should I try safari and make a new acc? Love your style of teaching.
I have a gmail account! You can certainly use your gmail to setup RUclips. Hope this helps!
I watch RUclips often but do not have an account. You say it is beneficial to have a RUclips account. Could you explain why?
You were able to post this comment, so you do you have a RUclips account. Without one, you wouldn't be able to post comments.
Thank you, I learned a lot from your you tube ❤

I communicate with Gary (Everyday Dad) on Twitter. He's awesome! He's helped me with camera gear and such. Yes, "handoff" is a great feature. I'll put it on the list of upcoming videos. Thanks for watching Steve!
you. should start off by saying the app isn't available on your laptop, only on iPad and phone
Excellent video! How can I find out the names of who has subscribed to my channel? Your videos are great, and very informative. 👍🏻🙂

Rich, love, love, love, your videos, but, there’s always a but, I hate, hate, hate the background music. Is there a way I can turn it off?

Unfortunately, the RUclips app does not allow you to use ad blockers. This is a dealbreaker for me.
I hate ads. But it's the way RUclipsrs receive support for these videos. Thanks for watching.
