Love the videos! Just bought the identical TJ right down to the color. Still waiting to get it from my mechanic. Been agonizing on what to do about the drive train.... just got the build sheet, and 3.73 gear ratio with a dana 44 in the back and Dana 30 in the front. Now I am thinking just truss up the axles, and add slip yoke eliminator and beefier drive shafts, and I should be good to go. Already sitting on 3" lift with new 33's
Jim, depends on your wheeling habits and is it also a daily driver? 3:73 gears do well with 33s and 35s on and offroad. I ran 35's on those gears on my old yj (w/ 8.25 rear axle) and I run the same set up in my SAS liberty along with a d30. No need to truss it unless you're rock crawling all day. Get some chromoly axle shafts for the D30 Or those heavy duty RCVs . When building a off road rig you have to keep in mind.... what percentage of the time will this rig be on the pavement? ... btw, This is all just my 2 cents worth. ;) But your set up now can do these trails with ease.
You are right about lockers my man! Put a lunchbox locker in your front Dana 30 at least, limited slip in the rear Dana 35 if you have the cash. The Dana 35 won't take a full locker to well with your size tires if you beat on it to hard, things will break! Love the Canada wheeling bro, keep them coming!
Part two will be up tomorrow morning but I like long wheelbase more for steep climbs and longer obstacles for sure. Not many places where the two door did much better
Great video dude. Big Bird did good on the trails. And your right the gladiator was cake walking that trail. On a side note, my TJ tripped on me last Saturday. Something gone wrong with my fuel injection. The jeeps acting like it's not get fuel. My dilemma is that my current machanic can't commit the manpower to fix my jeep so I may have to take it to another mechanic. It's just the trouble to find a good mechanic that won't try to rip you off. Need to make a move soon. I miss my jeep.
Thanks man! Sorry to hear that bro hopefully you can get it fixed soon and for a decent price! I know how it can be getting ripped off by mechanics lol I’ve been there
Yet people argue with me the other way all day long. Saying a gladiator will never be as capable as a TJ lol. Good to see there’s people on both sides of the argument
Geez iam from Saskatchewan and have no nice places like this to take my TJ, it has front and back arb lockers , full suspension 35” tires and I use it to drive my daughter to school as well daily driver lol , would love to join you guys one day
Would be great to have you join us one day. I don’t know anyone out there so not sure of any trails but I’m sure you have something just not in the prairies
Nice video of probably the most popular trail in Ontario, and for good reason, it has something for everyone. Just an fyi, and I hate to be that guy, but I recently learned that the bit you guys were doing at the 15min mark is an unsanctioned braid and it is being looked at negatively. I didn't know either. I've been also guilty as it is a fun off-shoot. There is talks to see if we can't post a sign saying such because it is hard to know any different when it looks like everything else. Also, rocking a TJ as well. You did well for not having lockers.
Thanks man! On highway it’s perfectly fine same as before. The lift didn’t make a difference really. If anything it drives slightly better now because I actually have all my body mounts now where as before 3 of em weren’t doing anything.
You probably get a lot of US based comments. A lot of the trails here are not nearly as open as what you usually show. So the gladiators really struggle by comparison. They're also not really good at real truck things. They're cool jeeps though and look sick after you slap some aftermarket on them. Longer wheel bases are always best for climbing.
Ya that makes sense. We do have some tighter trails but a lot of em are pretty wide. And ya I agree it’s not good at truck stuff for sure but I only want one for the bed so it’s easier to haul stuff to the trail or to camp. I don’t see myself towing with it if I pick one up.
Mine will chug along at 400-600 rpm in 1st gear in 4low and keep on going unless there’s a steep obstacle in my way or a large enough rock then I need to apply throttle. I’ve got 3.07 gears so I could definitely use a re gear but I honestly don’t mind it so I’m not looking to re gear anytime soon. I want one ton axles next then I should have proper gearing once I do the upgrade
Let’s be honest about the comparison. 70k dollars gladiator vs 15k dollars TJ. I mean it all depends on the experience you are after. I love my TJ and yes it takes a little more work but there are tons of factors that go into it. Tires, lift, shocks. Etc. I would go up and down with ease no lockers on what your driving in.
Love the new look of the Jeep following the lift and paint job!
Thanks man

That’s sweet! Definitely got a good plan, I think you should be built pretty well after the sye and axle truss

Jeep tj the same as the best
Fun trail, A few of us from NO FUN OFFROAD are running this trail again On SAT. A couple of TJs and liberty's
I think I’m doing rays this weekend

I want to do this trail again since our last trip to highway 118 via Anson trail.
Same here I can’t wait to go back
hi there, so wat was your conclusion on short vs long wheelbase?does it really matter?
Part two will be up tomorrow morning but I like long wheelbase more for steep climbs and longer obstacles for sure. Not many places where the two door did much better
love watching you vids
Hi do you have any lockers in the big bird?wat type of differential if not locking?
No lockers yet. Just a regular Dana 30 front and Dana 35 rear
@@SmokinMonkeyOG i like that"not yet".lol
What psi do you set your tires at?
Around 10-12psi when off road

Wheeling in the fall is awesome, big bird is doing great with the new lift, cheers! Videos do not do the angles justice.
Thanks! They really don’t! lol
The gladiator also has 20 year newer and better everything. I can’t ever think. A TJ will perform like a new Gladiator.
Yet people argue with me the other way all day long. Saying a gladiator will never be as capable as a TJ lol. Good to see there’s people on both sides of the argument

Where is this scotch line trail looks like a gorgeous place
Minden, Ontario. Canada
@@SmokinMonkeyOG thanks man I appreciate it very much
awsome, keep on doing it
sounds like you have some rocker knock in your engine, or you just need an oil change
Ya she sounds like a diesel alright lol 😂
Fall wheeling >>>>>>>>
but also that Mojave JT was about 15x more $$$$$ lol
You get what you pay for. It’s basically a luxury version of a Jeep lol can’t wait to get mine
And with what I’ve put into my TJ in two years it’s literally double the cost and it’s a $70,000 rig

Ya if they don’t want us on that part it really should be labeled. It’s at the junction so it looks like a fair route to take.
Sick video man. How has the highway ride changed with the lift? Can you keep up with the highway traffic?
Thanks man! On highway it’s perfectly fine same as before. The lift didn’t make a difference really. If anything it drives slightly better now because I actually have all my body mounts now where as before 3 of em weren’t doing anything.
Jeep wrangler tj
This doesn't discourage me from wanting a gladiator at all bro. I'm gonna use this as evidence as to why I should haveone 🤣
Me too lmao 🤣 I want one too
Ah e ah ay lets gooooo

@@SmokinMonkeyOG Sounds like it'd be a good buy for you then. 🤙
I feel like your tj is "worse" than the gladiator because the gladiator tires are better
Very possible
Also think the gearing is off on yours, shouldn’t ever stall, just spin
@@davidhoops40 agreed if I leave my tj in gear it hardly ever stalls it just idles through

Shout out to your girlfriend? for all the walking and filming
Yes 100% she’s the one behind the camera this weekend!
