Bought loads of used ebike's. Most of them older ones with damaged batteries picked them up for a steal, built a new packs then gave them away to family members. My mum loves her little Chinese 350watt hub bike.
@@mozzjones6943 lol, yeah as I say those cheap ones I buy I GIVE them away.. Clearly not going to buy a 4 grand bike for someone who I'm just giving a bike too to see if they like it. But you could spend 4 grand on a new ebike and get a nice one or you could spend 4 grand on a bike someone with more money than sense has bought decided they don't like it and stuck on ebay to shift it.
I found my used emtb online from a private person. It figured out, that he is a professional mountain bike rider and I got a great bike-fitting on top of a great serviced bike! Lucky me!
Frame number also, if it’s been ground off then that’s a massive tell tale, you can also check with the police if that frame number has been reported stolen. The dealer who I’ve just bought my Ebike off emailed me the frame number before the bike was delivered which I though was really good!
When you register a new bike for warranty with manufacturer on website, it will give you what dealer imported the bike and dates with name of original purchaser details (you) , if the seller can't provide a copy of this would mean a 2nd owner or suspect. Which a bike shop of importer brand could double check paperwork.
I like when he went on ebay all the bikes listed in his scroll down was converted bikes with big motors like 1000w and 1500w 😂. EBay is ripe with thrown together kits and you have to watch what your buying as they sometimes try to pair the kit up with too small a battery and you find that after 5 or 10 miles your now pushing a heavy bike back as no way your going to pedal it back. As for the branded bikes I'd go private seller anyway as some shops won't give more than 3 months warranty on a second hand bike.
Soooo, I just bought a used ebike. 2019 Specialized Kenevo Comp, with 2k in upgrades. Sight unseen. He kept it well maintained and verified by the shop. Specialized smacked an extended warranty on that motor, transferable!!! He already replaced the motor, it has Marzocchi bomber out front, hope wheels with cushcore...plus a spare battery with at least 1000 in spare parts like a full wheelset, handlebars, cranks, stems, etc! I think I got a good deal, paying less than a new Kenevo comp, but just barely. Comes in mail Tomorrow, we'll see if I made the right choice. I think I did. He seemed like a good guy, and has RUclips videos so that helps.
Hi guys Love the show .Got myself A second hand three mouth old only 1.4km done Focus jam2 pro plus with di2 for just £3000 .Nine months on absolutely made up no issues far as I’m concerned got me a brand-new bike for half the price.go get yourself a bargain 👍😁
0:47 LOL - unfortunately wrong. There are some small Bike-Shops that have really some employees with very good knowledge. But most of the bigger shops do not offer knowledge/information worth talking about
We would suggest you gauge this on an individual basis. We have definitely seen people with a strong passion and knowledge working at larger shops. It may be due to location or as they want to work at a larger shop with more room for their role to progress. You are right though, it's definitely possible at the larger "supermarket" style shops to end up talking to someone who's passion isn't bikes!
Point on warranty. buying from a dealer, even a private seller, under the Consumer Rights Act there is at least 30 day warranty on all goods. It states "You have a 30 day right to reject goods that are unsatisfactory quality, unfit for purpose or not as described, and get a full refund".
A good friend of mine purchased a stolen bike, without knowing. He learned it was stolen a week after he got it after taking it to a local bike shop to get tuned up. What a mess that caused...police...previous owner... The saving grace is he was able to convince all concerned parties he didn't know it was stolen, and the previous owner already received insurance money so he decided to allow the new owner keep it. The sellers disappeared. Messy.
If selling an ebike on eBay or similar how does it work with transferring the funds? ie most take 2 hours to see the funds so of course you would wait until the funds clear before letting the buyer take the bike? Might be a lot of waiting around!
On these Yamaha batteries there is a way to check the health and number of cycles ! All by pressing the button on the batt itself a certain number of seconds. See here : fccid.io/2ADBKX0P00/User-Manual/Users-Manual-3159392
Hey guys, I own the levo ht, and I noticed a sudden loss in power while riding yesterday, it doesn't seem like the same bike i rode over the weekend. On further inspection this morning, I noticed a little play in the motor side crank arm. Would this be a easy fix, maybe this is why my motor is lacking power, more noticable in turbo mode? and at higher speeds. Thanks in advance for reading.
My mate had his stolen. He found it for sale on ebay minus the battery and control unit as he had taken them off. The police couldnt give a shit and he basically had to just live with the loss. Moral of story if the bike isnt complete its probably stolen abd dont bother with the police borrow a bat and get it back.
Yeah, the guy with the dark glasses and fully hoodie are dead giveaways to run the other way. Especially if he is in a hurry and wants to meet up in a public dark place.

i look out for mass used ebike sellers. They usually sell trash just to make cash.

Purple Turtle cycle republic is part of the Halfords group, along with Tredz and wheelies to name but a few so I guess it’s down to the individual
Always love your videos, this one is a belter, awesome advice, thanks so much.
Awesome to hear! Be sure to share it with any friends looking to purchase a used E-Bike if you aren't able to go with them to advise 👍
I whip it out and do an inspection all the time.

i’d be asking how to change and upgrade the motor
