    good crane op! im a crane op from england and i dont mean this in an insult in any way but if we operated this slow on sites everyone would go mental, over here they want everything 100mph, always enjoy your content keep it up!

      There are times when a crew wants us to go fast. And there are times when they want us to go slow and steady. This was one of those times. I also don't take that as an insult. 🙂. I will generally pick up the pace when I have worked with a crew for a little while. Many thanks for watching! 🏗

      @@ToTheTopCrane The company I work for in Tasmania generally always runs it's own rigger with the crane, especially if it is a crane in the 100t to 300t size, but fortunately almost every customer we work for would rather the job be done steady with no mistakes - no damage and no injuries. I am not sure about England or the U.S. but our WHS laws are pretty tight and the penalties can be huge and can apply to pretty much anyone involved.

    NIce Video!! When the ecrew is welding and the crane is still attached to the tower are you allowed out of the cab of the crane or do you have to stay in the cab. Seems like it would be a long day sitting there waiting on them to weld the seams together.

    On lifting the first peice, with what appeared to be a 4 line config on the block, do I understand correctly that with that set up, each cable would be holding 10k, and your winch would have been pulling 10k, but your boom is lifting/holding the whole 40k.

    Hi Jimmy, thanks for another great video. It amazes me how you manage to do what you bearing in mind the weight / size of the loads you handle and the quality of the hand signals you get from the operators. Sometimes there seem to be several guys giving you signals or the person signalling changes during a lift. I know there are standard signals but do you discuss who is going to give you instructions before the lift? Seems confusing to me; all that and loose dogs on the site as well. Anyway thanks for the entertainment you have provided in 2020 for us all and happy Christmas and New Year to you and your loved ones from Nottingham, U.K.

    Very interesting video. Thanks.
    I've wondered how they put these up. I expected a ladder on the outside, but it appears this one has a ladder inside the pipe. So when they set the ball they were inside guiding it and then welding it up?
    What's the purpose of the little tower on the top?

    • @ToTheTopCrane

      The ladder is indeed on the inside. They were inside the tower, guiding and welding the ball. The last piece I put up is called a "dry well". It went inside the ball. Many thanks for watching! 🏗

    Would color coding the line at given boom configurations be worthwhile when figuring out how close you are to “two blocking” or is it meaningless when taking into account for outside temperature making cable shrink/expand those few inches? (I mean, your anti-nesting camera on your cable reel can show you how many inches are left before two-blocking occurs with color coding seen on the reel through your camera)

    • @frankdevo5715
      @frankdevo5715 3 года назад

      I wouldn’t think it would work given the grease/lubricant on the load line and the tendency of paint not liking to liking to stick to unprepared steel. Also the cable has to roll through sheaves and general wear would probably knock any paint that sticks right off

    Does the drum rotation sensor work in conjunction with the Parts of line, to give an accurate measurement each time it clicks. For example if you have 4 parts of line, to move one foot takes a lot longer then a single line. Great videos By the way!

    • @smedco
      @smedco 3 года назад +1

      The rotation sensor clicks at the same rate of drum rotation regardless of how Jimmy is reeved. However, I am %99 sure his crane is equipped with a hook height display, which is corrected based on parts of line. The hook height display also follows boom movement as well, to keep the displayed height accurate-ish.
