I prefer the studio version, because it has this cool effect of the guitar in the beginning going from one side to the other. "Be with you" is my favorite original high-energy song by The Bangles. It also reminds me of the "iCarly theme".
The Bangles were an LA area group, part of the Paisley Underground scene of the 1980s. Their classic lineup included sisters Vicki and Debbi Peterson (lead guitar and drums, respectively), Susanna Hoffs (rhythm guitar) and Michael Steele (bass). (Incidentally, Michael started HER music career with The Runaways, playing alongside Joan Jett and Lita Ford.) All four are now in their mid- to late sixties. Vicki, Debbi, and Susanna have reunited to tour from time to time, but Michael has hung up her axe for good.
My favorite Bangles...because they all sing the song....music..all of them singing. The "official video" gives you the smoothed out version...but this live version is awesome..again....I think this song focuses the Harmony they could do.
love Bangles-all talented and great looking as well-wish they were still together have some of their cd's like to hear you do some of their songs like walk like an Egyptian....
This is from their “return to bangleonia” dvd from when they reunited in 2000 or 2001 after a decade hiatus. The original Simon & Garfunkel is on their Bookends album.
I've always enjoyed their version of this song. It does a great job of showcasing there harmonies and their playing abilities. I have a four song EP with four different versions including a longer version. Speaking of Eleanor Rigby you should check out Alice Coopers cover of that song.
Hey MR… Bangles are one of my faves. 3 great albums in a row… this entire concert is available, and at least one other (for some reason, Pittsburgh comes to mind) is available. One is much newer, I believe. If I can find the links, I’ll post them. Susanna is active to this day… she and Matthew Sweet released a series of albums of cover songs . They’re a good listen.
Okay. Now I'm subscribed. And I think this version of "Hazy Shade of Winter" is the one where they sing ALL the lyrics instead of cutting out one of the most cool cynical lines in the song. Just because it mentioned vodka. In the original the line that ended with " . . . remember me . . ." was followed by, "at any convenient time".
Nice reaction. I don't know how to suggest songs for you but I would like to see a reaction to Susan Tedeschi. You went to Julliard and she went to Berklee School of Music where she majored in musical composition and performance and sang in the schools choir. We all love R&R but she shows us a trained voice makes R&R even better. Everything from her is better live so Everybody Talking or Angel From Montgomery/Sugaree are two good ones.
Maggie_You are doing a terrific job with your reactions. I would love for you to react to the song “Pieces of Dreams” by Johnny Mathis. The Live version from the Tonight. Show. He was Barbra Streisand ‘s favorite singer when she was younger. She has said of him:”There are good singers; there are a small handful of truly great singers; and then there is Johnny Mathis”. He is the third best-selling artist of the past century behind Frank Sinatra and Elvis Presley. This is a phenomenal performance by Johnny . A Must See !! I am sure you will enjoy it. He received two standing ovations that night. Please react to it. You will be so thrilled you did. This performance is simply outstanding and amazing !!
Thank you for your lovely comment. 🤗💖 Hope to see you on our livestream in less than 1 hour as we are doing Anne Murray reactions and many, many more: ruclips.net/user/live41ZNlGfjjcE
You 'n' me both ... I've been living with S&G's _Bookends_ album version since 1968. The Bangles did a good job of covering, but S&G are embedded SOOOOOOOOOOO deep in my brain!
The irony of The Bangles is that their biggest hits (Walk Like an Egyptian, Eternal Flame) were their worst songs. They’re not bad, but they’re not as strong as their other songs.
Too bad this performance is soooo weak, it's like they weren't really warmed up and practiced! They were usually sharper, tighter, and stronger than this.
This is not their best, it is weak and forgettable compared to the studio version. The studio version transformed the song from pedestrian to kick ass. Best cover version I have ever heard.

Every time I hear The Bangles I travel back to being 24 in 1988 and fall in love with Suzanna all over again.
I was 6 and I remember all these songs. Best times. The 1980's
That whole concert of The Bangles at the House of Blues is excellent. Worth a watch. Thanks Maggie! 💕

Be With You is a nice song, sung by drummer Debbi Peterson
That cool effect on the guitar is courtesy of Rick Rubin.

They are together and performing. The bass player retired
This song was in the movie Less Than Zero

The original Simon & Garfunkel is on their Bookends album.
I love this song! Great reaction Maggie!
because of the Beatles name drop, the offical Music Video from the Bangles "Going down to Liverpool and doing nothing" is worth to watch.
An original song by Simon and Garfunkel. Indeed...
I've always enjoyed their version of this song. It does a great job of showcasing there harmonies and their playing abilities.
I have a four song EP with four different versions including a longer version.
Speaking of Eleanor Rigby you should check out Alice Coopers cover of that song.
And if you don't need vocals, Stanley Jordan's cover of "Eleanor Rigby" is incredible.
@@robotto8858 Thanks. Haven't heard his work in a long time.
Seen them live many times and they are always excellent.
It was good back then and it is still good now! Excellent review Maggie :)

Banger
Paul Simon said he liked their cover.
And all 4 of them are singing! Would that be a next song for u to sing, Maggie? I luv em! Think I have all of their albums in my shelf.
This is from the "Less Than Zero" sound track.
They recorded the song for the less than zero soundtrack, but this performance is much later than that (2000 or 2001).

You have already reacted to Eternal Flame by the lead singer of the Bangles
I don't know if it's the official video that has them harmonizing very softly, and then blasting the music......it is awesome to visit and revisit
Hello 👋 beautiful lady. Love this song 🎶Hope you do to ❤️😊🙏👍

Ah, the very pretty Susanna Hoffs!

Wonderful. I wish the recorded version included all the lyrics as they do here. (Couldn't help singing the brass line for "Salvation Army band".)

👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Try Hero takes a Fall from the same concert. All in their 40's at this time. Still sound great though
👍❤️❤️
Oh, WOW i am still alive, the girls were/are great
You should do a reaction to the divinyls song boys in town
Maggie, any more Dan Vasc coming up? Just that one reaction left me wanting more...
What year was this performance? For those of us who were teens in the 80s and totally crushed on Susanna Hoff, she still looks and sounds amazing
My favorite Bangles song. Always great seeing some b@d@$$ women rocking out and playing live.
Maggie..Heart is another girl band, although only two sisters, Ann and Nancy Wilson you would like.

PAUL SIMON !!!!!!!!!!!
Susanna Houff is Killer
Originally by the Mammas and Pappas, I believe.
no paul simon and art garfunkel who altso wrote it
and the reason for it sounding like a beatles song is, it's from 1966
@@kimshaky Ah yes, sorry, I was getting the song mixed up with California Dreaming, must have been the harmonies.
Just gotta ask, Bangels or GoGo's?
Hard choice, but I gotta come down on the Bangles side, even tho it's disloyal to my hometown gurl Kathy Valentine.
Pliss reaction Alip ba ta NEW from indonesia 🇮🇩

Loved the Bangles in the 80's
This video is a very bad version imo
Doesnt show off their harmonies that they had in the 80's
